The lighting was one of my favorite things about the original Dead Space, so I'm very excited about what these developers are doing with this remake. Absolutely loving everything I'm seeing so far.
this more open approach to development is fantastic! Its great to see how the individual people at the studio who work on these systems, and the progression of development as you work towards the release
Rather than ea dumping out a dead space 4 they got a studio to understand dead space. Now if this succeeds we will have an enthusiastic and passionate team worthy of making dead space 4
It's really interesting how you guys went about lighting in this game, and how much easier it would all be if it was Ray Traced. Can't wait till RT is more normal in the industry
Dead space was the only game ive played that managed to incorporate horror with a shooter that ive gotten jump scare from, i think 3 was the only let down and look forward to seeing how if at all the remake improves over the original
I dont think you guys understand how unrealistic of an ask that is. Do you know how stupidly taxing RT is in its current form? Nobody will be able to play because of some lighting effect that every dev hasnt figured out to shrink its resource usage. We're years away from pratical implementation of it. We have cool little versions of it but dont get bricked up over fairy dust lads.
@@d3luna1 it's not an unrealistic ask as many studios have been successfully implementing it recently. This game is also only available on next gen consoles and uses the Frostbite engine which has great ray tracing capabilities as demonstrated in Battlefield for instance.
I hope you guys will notice my comment, I can't wait to pre-order it on Day 1 on steam. I hope it wins a game of the year 2023. Great job. Even Elon Musk loves Dead Space. You can find it in his Twitter timeline. Thank you so much. Dead Space should continue like the Resident Evil series. We need VR support. Dead Space 2 and 3 including DLC after this then Dead Space 4, also we want Dead Space Extraction, Dead Space Ignition, and mobile one remake for all platforms. Make John Carver's own story game. Make games out of those 5 novel books and comics. You guys have lots of possibilities and potential. Make us Whole. I also want Dead Space animation movies, tv-series, and live-action movies just like Resident Evil. Please make Dead Space great again. Continue the journey. Keep making Dead Space Make our Dream come true.
No Global illumination would look epic (RT). A HUGE miss opportunity, and the fact they using Frost byte engine? Sorry UE5 would been better choice Imo. I fear this maybe buggy mess consider it using frost byte. EA games are often buggy mess. The only one that hasn’t been is Jedi fallen order. And that was because game was done by the time EA swooped in and acquired them. Hopefully this end up decent, but time will tell.
Yea, the dude talking about the fog in the last segment may BE a dev team member, but he actually HAS NO IDEA how fog actually works. This over pervasive use of artificial fog, and TOO MUCH OF IT majorly sucks in games because it shouldn't be present in the environment it is put in, just for the sake of ' atmosphere and mood ". Fog is NOT formed in a canned air biome like what would be on a spaceship or space station.
Mate this is art not real life one, two the game would feel really dull without atmospheric effects like this, second it’s chemicals and dust in the air, this is very much how fog and smoke works irl
The longer you develop this game, the less sales will be. The era of remakes, which started with the remake of Resident evil 2, has already passed like 2 years ago. And your advertising campaign deprives your product of mystery, surprise, wow effect - everything that attracts attention. When your game comes out, players will have the feeling that they have already played it - because not a single innovation, not a single feature will surprise them. I really hope that game won't bea failure in terms of sales
