[ Plot ]
You play as Isaac Clarke, a systems engineer sent with a small crew to the USG Ishimura, a massive mining spaceship that has gone silent. The crew's mission is to investigate the communication blackout, but upon arrival, they find the ship overrun by horrifying creatures known as Necromorphs, which are reanimated corpses of the crew, mutated into monstrous forms.
Isaac’s personal motive for joining the mission is to find his girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, who is a medical officer aboard the Ishimura. As Isaac ventures through the ship, he uncovers the tragic events that led to the Necromorph outbreak, linked to the discovery of an alien artifact called the Marker. The Marker, a mysterious and ancient object, emits strange signals that drive people insane and transform the dead into Necromorphs.
As the situation deteriorates, Isaac learns of a conspiracy involving the Unitology cult, which worships the Marker and believes it will lead humanity to a form of ascension. Throughout the game, Isaac is forced to confront increasingly dangerous creatures and unravel the dark truth behind the Marker, the Necromorphs, and the true nature of his mission.
