My favorite scene on "The Dead Zone"!
Sarah and Walt tell JJ his biological father is Johnny. Beautiful, moving, perfect! I simply LOVE this scene! It made me cry... really...

This is definitely a powerful scene, and it makes me miss the show that much more. Its terrible that it was never given a proper ending.

Moviefan2k4 Yes, you’re right. That last scene of the fourth episode of Season 3 was beautifully done. Did you know that it was directed by Anthony Michael Hall himself? Pretty awesome, huh? A real tear jerker when JJ asks Johny how he’s supposed to call him, Johny telling him: “Just Johny” and the hug.

I think this is the most beautiful scene in all of the Dead Zone. AMH does such a great job right at the end there of expressing how much it must hurt Johnny not to be raising his own son.

It's almost a kind of foreshadowing, when Johnny looks at Sarah when he's hugging JJ, after telling the kid to call him "just Johnny". Some seasons later--In the very last scene of the very last episode--Sarah smiles at Johnny, the rift between them resolved at last...and says, "Go be with your son." Thus, when the series ends, we can infer that at last...JJ can call Johnny "Dad".

He isn't concerned with the title. Even Johnny recognizes that Walt is JJ's real dad as he raised the boy. Johnny just wanted JJ to know so he could finally have a parental relationship with him.

Nicole deBoer has this cute little quirk of bouncing in her seat a bit, like she's saying, "pay attention, folks, this is REALLY important, and I just can't wait to tell you!" It's part of her charm, her enormous William-Shatner energy.

Same but for Johny too, that love triangle they were stuck in was really one of the main components of the show. Making Sarah's son Johny's was a good way to keep that link between them.

They changed filming locations most of the way across Canada. I am guessing they weren't willing to follow or fly out.

You have to wonder if this made some things clear for JJ. I mean, who else has someone not a parent involved in such a parental 3rd wheel type of way? Johnny appeared to be clearly more than just his parent's best friend/ Sarah's ex.

Alicia Borth Yes, that’s exactly what he did, it proves how much he loves his son, he’s willing to put in own life at stake! At the end of the episode, J.J. says: “Thanks, Mr. Smith”, John responds: “It’s Johny.” That episode reminded me of that scene.

Alicia Borth Btw, I’m always delighted to meet some new fans! 😊 I have a fb page if you want to check it out, it’s called “The Dead Zone Fans Club”, I try to post useful content about the show, the cast, the characters, the episodes, etc... I do believe more people should know about this great treasure. I just watched the first five seasons and I just loved it. My favorite episodes: “Independance Day”, “Panic”, “Lotto Fever”, “What It Seems”, “Unreasonable Doubt”, “Coming Home”, “Shadows”, “Misbegotten”, “The Man Who Never Was.” That TV show is purely awesome! I also even thought about reviewing episodes soon in the future, I really believe this show should be acknowledged as one of the greatest American series of all times! Btw, the character of Janus really gives me the creeps.... 😱 I can’t wait to see what the producers have in store for us in the 6th season but based on the last words he exchanged with Johny, it’s gonna be something worth watching!

Does anyone know the name of the music from 2:15 onwards (or I guess it really starts at 1:55)? They used it all the time in the first 4 seasons, then stopped. I love it so much.

Probably b/c after a 2 year leave they returned to do season 6 and the original JJ would have been too old.
