@@coolcoolercoolest212Probably not significant like you said. Considering that wood will almost always undergo plastic deformation when struck by an axe unless it's a very hard wood there won't be any significant recoil in the first place unlike a hammer, which might be used on steel.

But did it actually work or did you just make an overengineered axe for no reason? It's not like axes have a tendency to bounce like hammer do anyway.

This is designed last year and put lots of research into it, id not spoken to Jake till i made this video and a mutual friend tagged him, i hadn’t seen his video i saw an original patent for one from years ago, im not the inventor of a deadblow axe i just designed and made my own variant of one.

This axe makes me wonder if you could make a shotgun axe like the shotgun golf club from the movie Caddyshack 2 that helps hit the ball farther, I think they did that on Mythbusters also :P
@Charlielizard
@Charlielizard 10 месяцев назад
Onur, absolutely loved the axe. Your idea and creation turned out brilliant. Willing to bet that extra lead shot causes the axe to split that wood like crazy. Appreciate all the years you put into filing and sanding 😂. Those are my least favorite things to do in my shop. This was a long time in the making, and I would call it epic. Cheers mate 🍻! Take a break and enjoy the rest of your weekend. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@oikkuoek
@oikkuoek 10 месяцев назад
Okay, but what did it do to the axe? I saw it still turning and it flinged off once, so it seems like every other front heavy axe. Gets stuck. What happens if you fill the chamber almost to the brim? or pack it full? The chop in axe comes from the mass behind the blade pushing it through the wood, where duller blade flings the pieces further away. Does the buckshot actually have enough mass to push that relatively heavy blade into the wood? When the handle doesn't go through the blade, the CoM is not supported by the handle. This rotates the blade and puts extra stress on the sleeve and the handle, while making the axe inaccurate. One would argue that the recoil in an axe is necessary. If the blade hits a wrong spot, the recoil nudges it back for easier release.

I would imagine this would be great for an axe throwing company. I've heard so many stories of people getting hit by ricocheting axes at those places. I would think this would dramatically reduce the risk of ricochet.

Welding the axe head together - 3 years Shaping the handle - 5 years Cleaning and prepping the axe head to join with the handle - 16 years Total time of construction - 24 years Well we know it's quality made :D
@johnsonjae
@johnsonjae 10 месяцев назад
But why? The spring of the axe blade is what helps drive the wood apart. The hardening edge and blade shape are force multipliers, allowing you exert less force with each swing. The dead blow chambers are canceling those forces at the moment of impact.
