brother u made me play this game just because of those vids where u show me that is possible in an mmo to play 1 build everywhere....i come from Elder scrolls online, and i ve played that game for about 5 years and i can tell u that there if u want pvp u need to have a build if u want raids aka trials how is called there u need to have trials sets and so on...here, having the possibility to play one build in just about every mode, makes new players like myself to try this game. As a new player u know that u can grind for one build once u are max level and focus on that one and u can be competitive...not to spend lots of months grinding for pve sets, after that for pvp sets and so on...really awesome videos bro, really good, keep it up
Great video, I'm looking forward to trying this build out. I also love that you took the time to really explain how it works and why you've picked the traits you picked.
I made a mesmer as my first character because I think they are super unique and fun, but I've never played this type of game before and find the combat pretty challenging when it comes to elite mobs. I have over a decade of experience with MMO's so I thought I could handle mesmer, but I am really struggling to keep up with the rotation and stay alive so I've descided to put it on the backburner until I'm more comfortable with the game. I think this build looks really fun and has some similar aspects to mesmer, so I don't feel like I'm losing to much by letting it go. Thank you so much for the guide, I think I'll be able to feel comfortable learning more about the game by using this!
Thanks for this build! Was a bit weird at first, but I must say, I use this everywhere for my PVE everywhere! A bit hard to master in WVW/PVP, but a REALLY nice build over all when you master it!
iam coming back to play GW after two years..is this build really that good in pve like dungs and fractals ? i like it but lot of people are saying single target builds dont belong in these game modes :D
Ive made firebrand, reaper and deadeye builds with exotic gear instead of better because im new to the game and omg, these builds are just perfect. In pve you deal good dps and dont die and in pvp is the same. Just need practice with the builds but as a new player, also vallun's playstyle is perfect to learn all the mechanics of the game and how to build around every situation
Thanks for all of the informations here, every side was covered and it was really pleasant to watch the video, i really appreciate it as i was thinking to play back my thief in WvW thanks a lot i took my decision ^^ let's train now ! ( plus the focus on traits was really important to me for understand correctly the whole archetype and for give me a bigger point of view for adjustment i can make or not, idk if u do it all the time cause it's my first viedo im watching from you but as i mentioned it it was important for me i guess it can be for others and thanks again it was a great guide :) )
This Zerker power-oriented build can actually be replaced by a condi-oriented Carrion one now, in Open World you have great AoE damage with D/D and single target damage with P/D, DE's Maleficent Seven gives you near infinite initiative 3 Spam, protection, Condi is being used now in dungeons and raids too as a DPS option, and in PvP it's used as a roamer with some tweaks
I would love to use this build with P/P but I don't think it would be as good. Thanks for really breaking everything down, so many of these videos talk over noob heads that it's hard to follow, yours was perfect.
First off love the Chrono Trigger music! when the dagger was announced for Mesmer I figured I should make a legendary and might as well learn thief for the first time. This build is nice and thanks you for the pvp gameplay.
Hi Vallun, I’ve been watching your videos for ever. Yours are my favorites. You are detailed and a hello fun to watch. Here’s a question, do you ring you need more stealth in wvw? Which is all I play btw. Thanks.
@Vallun I'd think full zerker gear with scholar runes would be best given that crit dmg would be around 242.2% and 258.9% while in combat whilst crit chance would be somewhere around 69.80% and 89.8% in combat, furthermore total power would sit at 2,704 again during combat. I am not sure however why you opted vitality since its of no real benefit for thief and given that 8k more health really doesn't go far at all, I do like the traits you've gone with but the zerker gear I mentioned that I already had on hand with runes did a far better job outrightly.
@@Vallun I guess that depends how you play WvW in a zerg or solo, that said I wouldn't take thief into any solo situation involving WvW given better profession options are available. However I assume you say that on the grounds that you feel the extra health helps in regards to survivability to which I'd say if you get your target down fast by focusing dmg over health all the vitality in the world wont matter and it certainly wont do crap for you in a situation against condi spam mark my words.
Nice video, and like others said, good explanations of every choice you made, and how/why you play with this build. Have you ever considered doing in game training for players who need more than a video to improve their game play? I would pay in game gold for training from expert players, as watching videos doesn't seem to stick in my thick brain.
My current build is actually almost the exact same as this build lol. Only difference is I use P/P because I like how that one trait lets you clear out multiple enemies & you can rack up initiative quickly with the #3 skill, a few traits/utility skills differences for survivability, and I use Berserker stats for maximum damage output. I haven't attempted WvW with it but it works well in the other gamemodes especially the PvE side of the content.
@@DemethVLK ye it works, but i changed from Critical Strikes to Deadly Arts 2 1 2 and on deadeye i am using Be Quick of Be killed. It claps most of people really fast sometimes the Death's Judgement is an Overkill skill as the target is mostly dead after 1 regular and 2 Skirmisher Shot as this MFker crits like there is no tomorrow. i mainly use this for regular arena pvp where people might not be so experienced everytime.
Well, the video is maybe out for a while now, but i've updated all my build with yours - even if they were closely the same. Now, just trying to get good haha XD
@@TerribleSimRacer For what it's worth I even tested them against eachother on the golems and using be quick or be killed only does like 20% less damage than maleficent and is useful in more situations, I find. Especially open world, like I said. Doing verdant brink stuff and I have to say nothing beats setting up in the middle of a camp and just having permanent quickness taking out every single enemy in record time.
Did they nerf Vallun's Deadeye buid? Yes, Invigorating Precision was nerfed since this post. I have Assassin's shoulders and chest, Soldier's everything else, and Runes of the Pack. All Exotic pieces. All Berzerker weapons with power and precision sigils. The trinkets are likewise a mix of power, precision, ferocity or power, toughness, and vitality. With ferocity, which is almost always up, I have 80% critical hit chance, and 25 might almost always. There is no healing from the Critical Strikes Trait for me, and the only way I found any sustain was to use venom. Stealing or marking only provides another stealth option part of the time. I hated my Assassin/Thief until I got the Deadeye rifle then I loved it. I tried the idiot stick Daredevil dodge Assassin/Thief and hated it. I have tried your build here, and I have tried Wooden Potatoes Pistolier version. Deadeye Rifle with sword/pistol, and Deadeye Pistolier are both good, but I do not get the sustain that you guys were getting. The only way I can heal is to drop Trickery for Shadow Arts and take the venom trait and full line of venom utilities. 2038 Power, 1331 Armor, 1396 Vitality, 1506 Life, 2429 Toughness, 1987 Precision, 59% Crit as a base, 711 Ferocity at 197.3%, 18.33% boon increase, and none or negligible of conditions power/duration and no extra healing power. The Precision damage healing doesn't work worth a damn. Do I need 20% more crit chance? I've found it hard to chain malice for reliable initiative refills, due to limited stealth options and running out of endurance. If critical healing worked, I'd rather run signets. Some players get mad if you kneel around and hang back as if you weren't doing anything the entire fight, when you were firing constantly while they were mostly only running around. I usually prefer Celestial stats, but then I would waste the boon points, and the condition points. I would like more damage, but I have no sustain without venom.
I prefer the rifle build over the pistol build because rifle is better for kiting and does more damage than pistols even when not kneeling. Sword/Pistol is just for PVE trash, or CC if a bigger guy finally corners you for a minute.
Enjoyed this video a lot! It's just such a shame that the only reasonable means to play Thief in WvW/Pve now is really to try and crit all the time, otherwise you're either get face-rolled or can't do enough output to make any engagement worth the time. It's also unfortunate that in order to max out crit in the first place, you have to give up so much HP on builds that aren't DD or using a Rifle. Hopefully next ESpec will balance this a bit for thief. ) :
Hey, very interesting video Vallun! I'm not a big fan of PVP, would you recommend some changes in this build if it would be designed purely for open world PVE or is this already very optimal for pure PVE (open world, solo)? I really like the rifle build and it feels very unique! Thanks for the video!
Im pretty sure the 10% crit chance trait is counted on the 70% you have. because you are looking at your crit WHILE above 90% hp. (Test it out by looking at it while under 90% hp) Therefore you are missing 10% crit chance to cap
@@orack6355 guess Revenant has it right in his trainlines then? cuz their 25% increased crit chance when full endurance sure shows on the sheet dynamically when you are full vs not
@@MyNemesisIX probaly yes, since rev is more recent class than thief. But it's easy to figure in thief if you've one. Remove the line that give you the crit by another one and you'll see no change ^^
@@Streeknine p/p is better with daredevil imo, the lack of mobility with deadeye + pistol is just meh. Deadeye pistol seems more of a condi burst build. For a power DE build, rifle basically does what p/p is good for anyway but better since you get free stealth, longer range and better stealth burst
@@Banana-cc5rx I just have to practice with the rifle I guess, but I like my bow.. it's hard to give that up :D But since they nerfed the tp arrows, I guess it doesn't matter as much.
what do you think about sigils that increase stats on kill (Sigil of bloodlust for ex.)? it seems almost everyone in wvw runs them currently, and, to be honest, +250 power sounds like a really good deal. Are the two quickness sigils on "secondary" weapon set worth it, compared to being able to put down people much faster with rifle? thx for your opinion.
bloodlust is completely fine, but as I said my purpose was to make it work for all situations. Bloodlust is very specialized and if you want to focus on WvW then yea it can work.
Hey Vallun! recently picked up the Deadeye mainly for solo and fractal, I am wondering how would you change this build since the healing trait got nerfed from 20%-6% Thank you!
Is this build still good ,or should I be looking for another? I only ask given that it is just over 7 months old ,and Anet has released "balance" patches since then. Great work Vallun I have used a few of the other one build for all game modes ,and they are amazing. Keep up the good work.
Alright at around your WvW build am I crazy or did you hit me with some sick nostalgic FFX sountrack? If my memory serves right....mount Gazette or something like that? I have faint memories of snow and Ronsos being involved.
I found right now this build . I just got the deadeye spec and i run full marauder gear ( armor set , trinkets and weapons) i dont have the time to get another trinkets with valk stats.. can i swap those valk trinkets with zerker?
I don't know if someone noticed this already or if it's been addressed, but at around 22:45 You say that you're crit-capped cause you have 90% crit chance and you get an additional 10% from being above 90% HP, making it 100%. That is untrue, you already have it since you're already at 100% HP during the making of the video and that it is passive, you have it up ALL the time, even outside of combat. So, you showing us 90% telling us that it's actually 100% is in reality just 90%. I mean, you can already see it during the video when you don't have Fury up and your Crit is at 70%. It's colored in blue, meaning it already has a modifier. If it didn't, the 70% would be in white coloring.
Then I stand corrected. But now I'm wondering if the talent is working as entended. 🤔 Either it doesn't show on the Character sheet or the talent doesn't work. Can you check you stats when respeccing out of Critical Strikes? If your Crit chance changes, than the 90% hp threshold is bugged and the talent gives you 10% Crit no matter what hp OR the stat change doesn't show on your sheet. I would do it myself, but not at my pc today.
@@Psyqhical its just a weird trait that doesnt show in the character panel whereas other traits that give crit chance either give pure precision or do so while having either fury or some other boon on them, i gues a boon conditional is easier to work with in the hero panel than health percentages
I am coming back to this game after being gone for like 6 years, so effectively a noob. Why is your invigorating precision showing different numbers than mine? 11:35 you are showing 10% and 20%, mine is showing 4% and 6%, are stats boosting that? what stats? I am mostly stacking as much precision on my exotic gear as I can and still can't get to 100% crit with the gear I have.... sad days.
Oh, it's because you are in a WvW, zone, right? Is invigorating precision still worth it at those much lower numbers in pve? I don't have toughness or vitality on my armor so I find I am pretty squishy in big fights, more than I would like to be, so was hoping that would help.
I like the build I play something similar, but tbh I really don't understand why pack rune, I can't see any benefice about it. We've always perma fury and swiftness and for might we've many and if you want more stable 25 might then Force rune will do the job better. Otherwise you can even go with eagle and put more valk to get way more crit dmg. So, yeah, I'm a bit confuse about this part of the build.
How are you using rifle 4 to shadowstep forward without your camera rotating? I tried setting my about-face keybind but it always turns my camera so it's not as smooth... Thanks for all the awesome builds btw!
Any chance this build gets a 2023 update? Been loving playing Deadeye. I only do PvE content, and still doing the main story (finishing LWS3), but down to doing some slightly harder content whenever ;)
@@Nick22159 oh okay, but after i commune with hero point or kill some mobs i dont receive any... i followed guide on yt where to collect hp in crystal oasis etc. It works on my guardian, but for example when i do it with my revenant it doesnt
About face looks so useful, is there any way to make it reliable with high ping? It seems to have a completely random delay and success rate in doing anything from australia.
bro nice guide, but pls can you give detail build for new player in gw2 in open solo gaming ? main weapons is 2xPistol or what ? : ( Deadeye in 80 lvl : (
leveling is meant for learning the game, in general you will enjoy critical strikes more while leveling but try out all the weapons they are easy to swap between
Doesn't really work above gold rank. You have huge damage as long as people don't target you, but without mobility and lack of shortbow it only takes one decent player to shut you down all game. Really unfortunate
Hello, good video, I mean that more shit people go to pvp every day, if you had been in that pvp, be sure that he would keep you safe, although he may not be able to kill you, but that nobody bothers you or that he notices that there is someone massacandro, uff that shows that many people have no fucking idea of how to play pvp as a team, each one does what they want, in fact many do not even know what focus is, greetings
Hey , in the laurel merchant at lion's arch i can't find an ascended amulet or ring with (power ferocity vitality) stats , all i can find is exotic ones at Lion trading , is there's another way to have them ? And I'm far away to craft ascended gear or legendary .
Thanks for the video. I've decided to copy it and make the same build for pve as I was looking for a bursty ranged dps class. I've bought the marauder lvl80 exotic set, weapons and everything you've recommended (only exotic, no legenedary, obviously). It's a bit disheartening to start with (I was playing a reaper before, easy dps), done a few fractals and 3 of the easiest strike missions. Due to my inexperience, I was constantly under the healers in dps, top damage dealer done exactly 3 times more dps than me and I messed up the rotation a lot. What I noticed in your video is that you've done a test on the raid golem and was pulling 14k ish dps. Even if it was with self buffs, is it normal for this class in full legendary gear?
I know its been 8 months but is this build still viable? i just got back into gw2 after like 7 or so years and just was curious what to do with my lvl 80 thief now
Lol ull get clapped a lot. I'd suggest daredevil.. bc it's a good all around build. Dead eye is good for pvp and wvw.. def not pve.. maybe in boss fights.
@@huzdahuz I mean u are literally shooting one thing at a time. But add me silkia cold.. na servers. I tried them all but daredevil thief is the best... Staff and p/p or staff and shortbow ( to tag shii). Trait line... Trickery/critical/ daredevil. Use maurader/ zerk everything including trinkets.... I like being a bit thanks bc I hate dying..use rune of exuberance. Sigils is up to.
