From Deadlock Podcast Episode 98. The Deadlock boys review the momentous debut of Tommy End, or Malakai Black, or Dussel Dorf... CALL HIM WHATEVER YOU WANT!
The thing is: Tommy End was his Indy name. Malachi Black actually uploaded a video with his new name, so Excalibur's commentary wasn't too bad with all things considered. Excalibur is like "Yeah, I know him... Or at least I used to, seeing him now I can tell this isn't the Tommy End I once knew, he truly is this Malachi Black guy that he showed himself to be" So maybe if they had him say that it would've went over better.
I think there was definitely a sensible debut in here somewhere, they just messed a few things up. Like, Excalibur suddenly knowing his name is Malakai was weird to most of us because we hadn’t seen that video. I think Jawnny’s suggestion of only calling him Tommy end (the crowd were even chanting TOMMY TOMMY TOMMY) and then revealing his new name in a promo would’ve been the sweetest way to do it.
@@Jardo Right! I'm definitely like yeah, it's definitely presumptuous for them to assume we've seen it, or if they wanted to keep his lines in, they should've used the videos as vignettes ahead of his debut, it would've still made him mysterious enough, but also the commentary team wouldn't mention the vignettes, it would just randomly pop up and afterwards the show would resume as if it was just a commercial break. Yeah thinking about it now, they could've done better
Watching this back I've come to the conclusion that his ring name should've been "Tommy Malakai, the Black End" and instead of the Netherlands, he should be billed as being from Duesseldorf, Germany.
