These words..virtually chilled me..! "I am sending you a message from my watch". The due diligence, Swiss watch experts..! Salute to everyone who stood to bring justice to the faithful bank guards..!!
It’s amazing how these agents were able to link these men to the heist. Good old fashioned police work back in 1977, when the tools that were available to them then is far different from today. These men are MONSTERS!!!
i remember this episode since it debuted on the discovery channel way back when. the couriers were unaware the poland brothers were fake cops. michael and patrick poland should've gone off the grid, but they thought they'd get away with it, which made it easy for the fbi to track them down.
Agreed. That was real detective work. Back before major corporations, law enforcement and the Federal government were tracking every citizen, real forensics were all that law enforcement had. It was a real battle of wits; good guys vs bad guys.
In1977, when these crimes happened, I lived in Phoenix; and I read about the crimes in the Arizona Republic. Not long after the crimes, I installed a facsimile machine in an FBI office, oddly enough, located in a motel room. Sometime later the FBI arrested the Poland brothers, not far from the motel room. I have always wondered if the two events had a connection.
sooooo... with all this money and time that they spent on travel, following the van for a year, modifications to a rental car, research, guns, disguises , they probably couldve started a business and worked and make that money without the murder and the death penalty and all
Mr Jim je ne sais pas l'anglais mais je peu vous dire que vous été le meilleurs des police dans le monde avec votre équipes je vous souhaite bcp de réussite et de pas science et de courage c'est les meilleurs documentaires. Encore bravo
It's amazing how the law works...for the criminals. It really seems as if the laws are constructed to aid a law breaker get out of a crime rather than convict.. I think our laws need a complete overhaul
They had always intended to murder the Guards, which is why a garotte had been constructed and was brought along on the day! There had never been any reason to use the electronic stun gun on the defenceless and cooperative hostages, nor had there been any reason to physically beat them. Both were done because the robbers revelled in the absolute power that they had over their defenceless hostages. The custom ordering of the body bags a month before the robbery, establishes beyond doubt that the robbers premeditated the murder of the guards, because if they had never intended to murder them and to dispose of their bodies, why did they custom order their body bags.
Guy used an alias to buy the things they would need, then used his real name at the lake, to rent a boat and to tow the truck, That’s Genius…. 🙄🤦♂️ That’s why they say, Only the smart ones get away… 😂
Have to show an ID to rent. He couldn't use his fake name. He probably thought the tow-truck driver would ask for one, too, and he might have, which would have tipped him off that something was wrong.
If they hadn't got their pick-up stuck in the lake and even then, if Michael Poland had not signed his own name on the tow truck receipt, they would have gotten away with it. Really pleased they didn't.
One of the detectives said that in this situation the first thing you do is look at the drivers and see if maybe they took off with the money. Uhhhh what??? Do human lives mean less to him than money? He wanted to rule them out as perpetrators before he looked at them as victims and that’s pretty gross. Should’ve been the other way around. Wasted time questioning the spouses right away when they could’ve been putting that time into searching for the victims. Clearly they were more worried about the whereabouts of the money than they were in making sure those employees were safe.
only a matter of time till lake mead gets completely bone dry. hundreds of feet of water gone due to the extensive drought, and having 6 inches or less of rain per year doesn't help neither.
If there was any forensic evidence in, on or near the van scene, the original Leo’s contaminated ALL of it when they felt it necessary to play lookie-loo before the forensic technicians even arrived !!!
That was a Loomis armor car robbery. The 2 employee got stopped by a fake police car and got out of the vehicle. After that one of the guards had a heart attacked and died at the scene. They killed the other guard.
Maybe I missed it, but I did not see any evidence linking the brother -- other than new purchases and cash in his house. Glad to see the FBI kept up their quest to pin the murders on the brothers.
Couldn’t help but feel sorry for Patrick at the end. I don’t believe he was the cold killer his brother was. Tragic all way round. May the victims RIP.
I went to the precinct tonight and asked for the 2 officers names who swung by from their precinct to speak to my daughter and I back in 2020 and guess what??? The officer said they have no record of me coming in contact with them nome of 2020 😂 On the NEXT episode of stranger things meaning I'm gonna need a written and notarized letter from her saying cops came to the house bc the 88th sure don't have that on file and they are the ONLY precinct that can serve this zip code lol get ready for KARMA folks 😘
We shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto us: and the light shall shine upon our ways. The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ,
that was a very weak case. thats why they didnt retry the murder case. if i had been on the federal jury, they wouldnt have got that conviction either.
I worked inside a state prison for over 5 years. I promise you, there is absolutely NOTHING worth while the risk of being sent to one of these prisons. Absolutely NOTHING! Even the food sucks...Every day...
I lived inside California state prison’s for 4 years and two months in at 18 out at 22. Was the best thing to happen to me. I guess California is just better than Arizona in the department of corrections.
uhm, the whole point of going to prison is it should feel like a punishment surely??? you're sent there because you've done something wrong. so why should it end up feeling like a holiday?
@@karimmelikian934 Some people were send there when they were young and learn the system, and also learn their lesson so they dont come back. These 2 brothers have been dead a long time ago tho.
Remember this well. I later worked for Wells Fargo Armoured and ran that same route carrying millions of dollars in cash. You and your partner were on your own after Bell Rd and I-17 in what was then the edge of PHX AZ, cell phones were just coming into use , had limited range and only worked when near a city large enough to justify a cell tower. The operational rules were , that 1 man had to be in the driver's compartment at all times, If stopped by law enforcement you nor your partner were to open a door or exit the vehicle. The Police agency making the stop was required to contact their dispatch, that in turn would contact our Vault Manager who radioed the driver , where radio waves weren't blocked by terrain, the driver then verified that they were stopped by law enforcement along with the location and the officer(s) name after the officer showed his law enforcement I.D. Even then No one was to step outside or open a door. The gun ports were large enough to pass a driver's license and paperwork to the officer. If a situation required either the Messenger Guard or driver guard to exit the vehicle it could only be done after the law enforcement agency had a supervisor on site along with a manager from Wells Fargo Armoured. It was done because of this hijacking. The Northern Arizona route was one of the longest runs for Wells Fargo Armoured and no one was concerned until 6 hours after we left our PHX vault. On one trip the cab was filling with fuel vapor to the point we were getting sick. There are No Windows that can be opened, we finally propped open our cab doors until I could reach that same gas station, back then it was remote and had no mechanic at the station. I had been a mechanic before working for Wells Fargo Armoured So I asked the pump jockey if I could use their tools. Against company rules we exited the truck ( after pulling to the rear doors of the station's repair bay) While I repaired the ruptured fuel line my partner stood watch with shotgun in hand. That put us 3 hours behind to our 1st bank in Flagstaff. No one was worried. Even when this hijacking took place you were not supposed to exit the cab unless your partner came into the cab 1st.
When a bundle of money goes missing in Arizona, the FBI is on the trail. To make matters worse, the two guards hired to protect the cash are gone, too. To make matters worse the guards are missing too. Well I feel people missing or dead is more important than $$$ missing. But that's just me
@@seedplanter7173 I watched that. I can’t see how the fbi could fake robberies with murder victims and grieving families. But it wouldn’t surprise me at all to know they set up certain to solve for the cameras.
so the fbi search one brothers house, and then the other brother, allowing the first brother to call the second one lol. heres a thought fellas. raid both houses at once so that this cant happen.
@@bradr2142 achieving what. by the time they get to the second brothers house he might have a fire going and be burning all the evidence. seems crazy to me.
@@_Meng_Lan an eye for an eye...if a man steals with his left hand ,cut off his left hand... these cases where an innocent person has been killed are largely due to another man's will to overlook evidence or to make up evidence in order to railroad an innocent man, therefore it is those men that will have to answer too God on what they have done. As for a real murderer that is has put themselves in the electric chair. Murder is murder, putting a man to death for murder is doing God's work. Why should we house feed and have the burden of a person that had proved themselves not worthy .And has to be supervised 24 hours 365 days ...And so on.if you lived on an island where you had your loved ones and one went around murdering them, would you just catch the murderer and tie him up?
Shut your mouth . Keep your nonsense for yourself ...the bible is corrupted ...you kill somebody, you dont deserve to breath the air of this planet . Good riddance
In 2022 Cameras on the armored vehicle scanning license plates, tracking vehicles, keeping a record of what's happened would help. Maybe an ai solution.
Watched every episode on FBI FILES channel started this year, one of the best I discovered... also glad I found this channel Cuz they upload other documentaries from FBI FILES. LUV IT😍👍.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
