It is a harmless brown water snake (Nerodia taxispilota), they are non-venomous and harmless. That is a young one only a few years old adults can grow to five feet or more. They are quite common in the Southeastern part of the US. Their main diet is fish and amphibians but will also eat earthworms, leeches and crayfish. One of their favorites are catfish! Glad to see it was not harmed and was let go to live it’s life!
@elijahyoung8313
@elijahyoung8313 Год назад
Actually I've been studying snakes for a long time if you look at the pattern you will see that it's a water moccasin or a python but the size is a bit different from the original brown water snake so your answer is unclear because we can't see the belly witch in this case we do not know if it's a water moccasin or python but definitely not a brown water snake
@joshuapalmer265
@joshuapalmer265 Год назад
I’m sorry but it is very clearly a Brown water snake. The morphology, color and pattern are all diagnostic for Nerodia taxispilota. A quick search on any search engine will pull up tons of photos of brown water snakes that match this animal to a T. Cottonmouths are shorter bodied and very chunky, they also lack the blotchy pattern of a water snake. Cottonmouths also swim unlike any water snake; the whole body “floats” on top of the water with the head clearly elevated. Cottonmouths also have a light colored to white color on the sides of the face with a dark stripe running from the tip of the nose through the eye then to the upper jaw. Cottonmouths also have a vertical cat like pupil as well as a heat sensing pit between the eye and the nostril. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Brown_Water_Snake.jpg en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Watersnake_cottonmouth_tennessee.png reptile-database.reptarium.cz/species?genus=Agkistrodon&species=piscivorus

Not sure why my phone subed rat for corn but what was meant was CORN snake the phase is an everglades corn snake aka Okeetee corn snake they are in the Rat snake family and do interbreed I have raised both rat and corn snakes for more then 30 years and I am a Herpetologist and run a rescue for snakes here of all types.

there was a lady in florida who sold Herps the company was Florida Heprs she was known for rare Phase corn snakes not sure what happened to that company but they no longer come up on the net. the glades rat have yellow around the lower head and neck and onto the belly but none that I have seen continue the yellow the full belly length down to the tail. as hatchlings they are completely different looking I've seen them in 2 phases grey under color with black bands and a ruddy looking brownish orange with black bands here in the north they never get to the Orange and yellow phase they stay in that ruddy looking brownish orange with black bands and always start out as Grey and black for the first year or two depending on how well they grow. They are picky eaters as hatchlings here in the north so loss of hatchlings is very high up here unless you force feed them. I have saved more then 100 hatchlings by feeding them ferret food ground to a powder and mixed with water to a slurry you have to feed them with a syringe. at present I have more then 60 snakes 68 to be exact Garters, Hognose, corns, rats, kings, pythons, boa's and 1 Milk snake I had a copperhead for a week that had a tail squashed by a car and was pinned to the road I freed him and made sure the tail docked without issues before releasing him back to the area he came from.

@lizmarpar

Actually it’s a ball python you can tell if you look at the shape of the head. Ball python heads kinda look like squished hearts. They are also great swimmers and can hold their breath easily for 2 hours!
@Dragonblood2018
@Dragonblood2018 Год назад
@@lizmarpar Cool, but it’s not a ball python. Do your research.
