I teared up when they had the video montage of all the bts of not just Hugh Jackman but also pretty much every movie of the fox marvel franchise, besides being a team up, Deadpool and Wolverine was truly a final hooray for the Fox marvel universe. Also of course “You were always the wrong guy, until you weren’t” 😢
I had a blast, it was such a beautiful and nostalgic send off to the Fox era heroes. Having Wesley Snipes back was excellent, but having Channing Tatum as Gambit was the cherry on top.
Jennifer Garner looked so good! But I actually heard her on a Ringer podcast recently talk about her trainer, they were discussing Alias training then she said, even to this day she workouts/trains like if someone where to call she has a two week ready rule! So she’s never not working out Incase someone calls needing her to be action ready in 2 weeks.
I like the suit up scene because they were filming it as if it was gonna have a cool marvelized design just for them to reveal it’s the same exact suit from the previous two movies😂
Lots of GREAT nods, jokes and cameos. My favorite has to be at the beginning when Deadpool is taking out the rogue TVA agents he litterally kicks the credits of Ryan and Hughie to make it resemble “Andy” on toy’s feet from Toy’s Story. Awesome!
14:23 when comic accurate Wolverine popped up I was like “holy shit it’s gotta be Daniel Radcliffe” than turned around a cgi short king Hugh Jackman 😂 that just gives me hope that they’re saving Radcliffe for later
honestly i enjoyed Gambit so much, it was so so so shocking and funny all in the best way possible, gosh i laughed everytime he opened his mouth, tatnum was hilarious and so good
Thank you for the honesty Zach, and you are spot on. The first 25 minutes are ROUGH. Pacing of the intro is bad. Bits go on way too long and are pretty flat. The whole scene with Happy isn't very funny. Much left wanting.
Why do people keep getting the facts around "do you know what happens to a toad when its hit by lightning" line wrong. It falls flat because its a running gag thru the movie but all the other references got cut. Throughout the movie, Toad would say things like "Do you know what happens to a Toad when it (insert action), it (insert punchline)." And the joke is storm uses his same corny line. A running gag falls flat when you dont have all the other parts of it.
I’m legitimately confused on how Zach and Brandon couldn’t love this movie. Not because I think they should share my views but this movie was a love letter to fox era of marvel movies. I also teared up when they showed the bts scene of all the fox movies. 10 minutes in I was saying I’m buying this on digital and blu ray. It was so good that I didn’t even care that there wasn’t a set up for the rest of the multiverse saga.
Lots that setup the future of MCU, just implicitly. TVA becoming established in the movies... Will be a staple I think ongoing. Anchor beings becoming established will mean something for 616 and the whole multiverse saga. MCU movies being held in alternate universes solely... Upcoming. But I wish we could've seen a Kang reveal post credit scene
I believe it. You said it yourself: It’s a love letter to other films. It’s nostalgia fuel weaponized to make people have warm. fuzzy feelings. What it isn’t is a competent film with good storytelling, intriguing characters or someone to root for.
@@godfr012 you’re so right I meant a more explicit exposition but you’d detailed it perfectly here thank you. I don’t usually comment on stuff, because we’re in a day and where people think everyone has to agree with their views but I was just shocked that they don’t seem to like it. It seems right up their alley from their previous opinions.
@@levischorpioenthis is my issue as well. I think I just wanted a fun duo comedy, and this felt like it spun out of control trying to pay homage to all of the fox era. Fun mindless movie that doesn’t care too much about the franchise it’s being forced into, but more the movies that came before.
I loved all the fan service stuff and the action fights but there was so much lacking. The story just wasn’t good. I didn’t care once about DEadpool or wolverines worlds ending. Never had an antagonist that mattered. Paradox, Cassandra and even the Deadpool gang being taken out by a Peter. The overall story wasn’t good.
This movie epitomises why I don’t watch trailers and haven’t for a few years now and don’t look at news of upcoming movies. Coming in with no knowledge of any cameos, especially having all these movies in my teenage/adult years was surprising, hilarious and emotional and made me love it so much more.
As soon as Jennifer Garner walked in wearing that Elektra outfit I just kept thinking how badly Ben Affleck botched the whole "Which Jenn Should I Take" conundrum.
22:28 I agree. That first 20 minutes kinda dragged. Felt like they were work shopping SNL skits. They should have removed the Happy Hogan interview scene. I barley laughed, and it confused tf out of me. I thought it was some kind of dream sequence.
For me, there has always been way too much of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the Fox movies and not enough of most of the other X-Men. For that reason, I'm not emotional about never seeing him again, despite how great he has been in the role.
Thank you! 100% with Zach in this review. Especially regarding the drag of the first 25 min 4th wall breaks and the brilliance of Hugh Jackman as an actor and as Wolverine.
2:16 Brandon is so correct, it’s exactly what I said too. The opening scene was so “Deadpool” that every single comic panel of him would have been nodding in acceptance. Taskmaster wouldn’t have been able to predict that fight, exactly as it should be!
MCU and their fans need to wait... finish this saga first, take some losses. There's no way they can properly wrap everything before Secret Wars if they start a Mutant saga now. We still have Shang-Chi 2? Wonderman, Iron Heart, Blade?, Eternals 2? Never heard from Eros or Black Knight, anything to do with G'Iah from Secret Invasion?,Spiderman 4? Hulks kid? Moon Knight? Vision Quest? Armor Wars? Nova? Okoye? Young Avengers/Westcoast Avengers, introducing Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four. Of course Agatha, Daredevil, Something or someone to bring them to Battle World? Next Dr. Strange? Could go on. Adding full on X-Men movies and X-Men vs. Avengers now seems ridiculous tbh and I'm not sure why people are asking for it.
I think the scene with happy was not only to set up Deadpool emotions and’s hero turn point at the end of the movie but also as like a meta commentary of just trying to get Deadpool into marvel over all because fox didn’t want Deadpool movie first than he got his movies but also he knows he could have more potential as a character being with the rest of the mcu and they seeing his value
I saw the anchor being as meta commentary, like so much of the movie was. When people stop caring about a universe, the universe begins to die and fade away. People were invested in the fox universe because of Wolverine more than anyone else. Don't know how that translates to the technical stuff in-universe.
my only criticism would be i wish they included laura more ig their scenes were really heartwarming and subtle, i wish logan and her had more interactions, even if it was not much dialogue in between them but more like just moments or shared looks even
I agree with Zach that the first 25 minutes were a little bit alow on pacing and too many meta Marvel jokes in the first few minutes. Kinda wish things were sprinkled throughout the movie. Once we got into the void pacing was much better.
It is simple. Just like in science when different people are starting to work on something unknown yet, they call what happens by different names. The name that they assigned to that aspect. Same with Nexis being or anchor being etc.
wolverine running on all 4’s & DP/Wolverine jumping out from the back of the bus (the last big fight) was dope asf also im so glad there was no taylor in the movie, shes been over saturated, her music being there was enough
We don't have to have Wolverine in an MCU X-Men franchise since they have X-23 and that actress is amazing. The torch has already been passed. All that bull that you need a man in the role to sell tickets is just that.
"Some mother f**kers still trying to ice skate uphill"!!! Yes Blade, yes they are!! Still my fav line from this movie & I've been thinking bout all of it since Friday night. And Hugh's Wolverine, just complete acting gold!! LFG!!!❤💞❤️
Millennials needed that ending to Deadpool! I wanted to cry for all the years that I've been watching X-Men. It's been a great year! It was like a cherry on top
Sad to say after watching Deadpool and Wolverine that tho it had a pretty good story The Marvels had better fight scenes and Secret Invasion had a better main villain The best line of the movie was X-23 "you was always the wrong guy" "until you weren't" Good luck week 2 after release
1) that Green Day song. I hate it so much because it could be attached to anything and it’d make you cry lol 2) I really wish they would have had PeterPool be “the guy she’s seeing” referring to Vanessa. Then Deadpool ending his BF’s life and Deadpool’s “anchor friend” leading to an incursion would have connected everything so well. Would have been an F U to antman 3 creators for not ending it on a sad note!
Yea I’m glad I didn’t watch any of your theory videos, or rumor videos for the movie. I didn’t even watch your newsy type videos for this movie. Once I realized this was going to be a cameo type movie I turned you guys off until I saw the movie. Also I loved Gambits comic accurate suit in live action. As someone from Louisiana, I loved Gambits thick ass accent. I lived in other cities and people always had to go “huh?” Sometimes when I spoke. So while his accent thick lines were hilarious, I relayed to it a lot lol
I personally wish they would set rules for the Inter-universal/space travel. That way we can completely understand what the rules are and it would challenge the writers to work within those parameters.
That 616 scene really threw me off. For a while I thought the movie was trying to say that the MCU was Deadpool's home universe and that he and Wolverine were now set up there, which is obviously not the case.
My theatre was the same as Gina's it's like the people there didn't know all the history, this was opening showing UK on the 25th I was like a big child laughing and sat on the edge of my seat
If fiege isnt interested in casting a new wolverine yet couldnt they start with som other xmen where they can focus on them more ie storm, and wolverine of 616 universe could still be doing special ops in some dark organization and when they do introduce him he could be a villian. A darker and different portrayal of the characte
I can either see one of two ways we introduce x-men. Either we do nostalgia and x-men vs avengers (616) and 90’s x-men and do it right with Cyclops as leader and focused on him. Do that as an incursion two worlds collide… if not let’s just completely reboot away from the whole legacy and new x-men casts. Beasts cameo in the Marvels might indicate we’re going on the former of bringing the OG 90’s x-men back
i personally also have always loved the x men more than the avengers, so i hope this is the direction marvel moves onto in the future, and i hope hugh jackman as logan is a prt of that future.
I told yall snipes was gonna be in this week's b4 this came out I've known since they filmed his scenes , I was tracking flights for this documentary and I kept seeing that him and Tatum kept ending up at the same places and we already knew Tatum was gonna be gambit
Ok see I THOUGHT the point of the end and what Deadpool asked B-15 was to bring all those old worlds into ONE, into his, in order to set up the AvX by having two main words to clash
I agree with Zach I’m glad I’m not the only one who hated this one. Love the other dead pool movies but Ryan Reynolds/the cameos/and the lack of substance was just too much this film
As fans we need to get over the Jackman obsession. Yes he’s been a cool Wolverine but doesn’t resinate to the comics for me… lack of mask, height etc. We’ve had plenty of other examples of recasting Phoenix and Ledger as Jokers, Pattinson and Affleck as Batman, even Bale as Batman. Jackman has had a great ride but it is time to pass the mantle, fantastic performance in DvW but we need to move on.
It was a fun movie but it was a little too much fluff without a tight storyline with a lot of things that didn’t make sense. One main thing I kept trying to figure out was what was the point of Paradox doing what he was doing? What was his end game. So when you work for TVA it’s pretty much for life , so why did it matter to rush the end of a timeline than to let it end naturally? Ok so even if he is bent on going rouge and building his machine once he starts pruning the timelines against the rules the TVA will no doubt realize this pretty fast and he will be stopped and punished. So instead of being a TVA agent he will spend rest of his life in some kind of TVA jail or probably pruned. So I just don’t get how he thought all this would play out. Obviously he wouldn’t be able to just keep doing what he’s doing.
