I got a model of the sword Heshikiri Hasebe from DeAgostini's Original Sword Collection. I opened it up and compared it to my very nice iaito, the sword I use for iaido practice.

Greetings from Orange County, California. I'm just getting into the whole Japanese sword art thing and so I found your video just perusing the subject matter. Haven't even gotten my sword yet. Still doing research on what iaito to get. Initially trying to go a little cheaper than getting on from Tozando, just to see if I would like the whole thing before spending bigger bucks. Anyway, thanks for the video. It was interesting. Though I probably won't subscribe to that magazine as my Japanese is a little rusty ( "Rusty" = non-existent 😉)

Honestly, if you want an iaito for practice, Tozando’s basic iaito are less than $400. A good practice iaito will cost at least $300 new.

I'm saving up for one. Also saving to finally have a wedding (been married over a year), though, so it's slow. But not very many people over here have shinken. But if you wanna help me out you can always donate for my Ko-fi. lol

It bothers me too when the blade and the Habaki have a houge gap even on really expensive Swords 5000 USD and more ,an absolut no go

Well, I keep a bokuto in an easy to grab place and do a little almost everyday in the house. But proper practice is once or twice a week, averaged out.

Ali chan, do u have a rcommendation for iaito brand?, because next week i’ll probably go to tokyo and kyoto.. and i’m planning on buying 2-3 iaito to bring them back to indonesia🙏🏻

My personal favorite place is Nosyudo ( nosyudo.jp ) in Seki, Gifu. Tozando is another popular shop, though I’ve never ordered from them.

Hi! Great video! Can i ask you what tipe of tsuka shape is the one on your Iaito? Is it Haichi or Rikko? I'm thinking about buying a Iaito for myself and i'd like to have it with the same tsuka.

Hmm... I don't think DeAgostini Japan ships outside of Japan, but I know people use mail forwarding services to buy things that require a Japanese address.
