I was thinking it was an "okay" torque wrench but then you showed the flex head and I was like "that's pretty cool". It just moved up a notch in my book.
Actually, I own these same tools from Mac, Cornwell and snappy. Other than name and color, same same. I'm getting these and comparing....betting same results and they allowed me to screw myself. Much like theirs 13 brands of batteries or shocks, but majority made by 3
mdlee52 I paid $228 for the 1/2” AC Delco. No light gauge but does change color, vibrates, and beeps. Does angles and torque up to 250ft lbs I believe.
I was gonna send some messages out but I didnt wanna miss out but... Sears.com had a full gearwrench 3/8 set with the full 1/4 120xp set 80550 is the PN and it came from mechanics warehouse for $99.99 free shipping.... Thing is you had to go through sears to get it for the price even with other sites selling it from mechanics warehouse for other prices and even the suppliers site has a much higher price. Well I ordered them and got them this last friday... Got to thinking and checked the price through sears and they went up in price a lot more like $50 more.
kobalt has some small blow mold tool boxes that are about that size and they stack ontop of each other, i use them to fill with supplies from the supply box to take to the work area so I have what I need. They were only $8 ea.... These kinda deals are why I love living in a sales tax free state.
That's one hell of a deal right there..fuck the 600$ snap on price tag...for angles just use a sharpie to mark on the side of the socket..keep the content coming
So I bought the 3/8s today, but the instructions kind of suck for advanced features. It's supposed to have user presents but no way to set then... Also there is a bunch of instructions about tracking mode / peak mode, and peak mode does show your actual peak, but what does tracking do? The torque wrench is nice though. Plastic is a little creakily under torque, but still accurate. Have you figure out the user presents?
I've been looking at the kobalt 3/8 digital torque wrench it doesn't have the flew head but it does allow you to do the angles and degrees and there 179 so still a crap ton cheaper than snapon
Nice wonder how acurate it is .....u should take it on a snappy truck or any tool truck that has a torq o matic to measure its accuracy. Thanx for the alert.
I showed the testing certificate at the end of the video. In short, there was only one instance where the deviation in accuracy exceeded 1%. I think it was on one of the lightest settings, operating counterclockwise. That is plenty accurate enough for me! Thanks, Drew!
Great video thanks brother. Like the tool I'm just old school. Put to many buttons on it and I'm lost. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again
I'm in the market for torque wrenches I want something I can TRUST to do it once and correctly no hassle. I'm willing to shell out the $ for snapon. I've seen that carlyle it looks nice would you say this will last me a lifetime? I take extreme care with my torque wrenches.
I can say that it is very well built and that every Carlyle tool I own has impressed me with their level of quality. I think the extra price you would pay for a Snap-On torque wrench would be almost completely for the name on it, rather than the qualityof it. But I understand people going other directions, as well. Hopefully that helps.
mdlee52 I appreciate your honest reply. I may consider getting this product I'm just looking for something that is less likely to fail and do it right the first time. Honestly for the price it looks like one Hell of a deal.
Yeah, you should just keep in mind that this one does not do angles. I think they're version that does angles is on sale, but it isn't this good of a price. I'm not concerned at all about the quality level of this one, I'll put it that way.
CDI is owned now by Snap on so the cdi version you are getting the same quality. The gearwrench that looks like this I have heard a lot of mixed reviews. Thank you for posting this, an excellent deal. Is the torque yield version on sale as well?
How's this been working for you since u got it I've been looking at picking one of these up when it goes on sale next month or going into debt with a tool truck
I posted the link in the description to a comparable model by Precision Instruments. If I'm not mistaken, they are the manufacturer for Snap-on. Needless to say, it is several times the price of this Carlyle torque wrench.
