I’ve got to say, that was very fair play for the second one. I know game shows have to be fair, but allowing the guy to choose whether to start again or reshuffle was an outstanding move
Especially when you consider they did *not* give him the option of just going with what was missed. I truly believe if it was a small amount they would have given that as an option. But they knew it would have cost them more than a quarter million in ratings knowing what it was. And their doing what they did plus the priest's words, would have boosted their ratings more than if nothing happened. Plus it continuously gives millions in RU-vid revenue LoL.
I agree that I have a lot of respect for them (the deal or no deal team) for how they handled it. They *easily* could’ve said “£250,000 was in that box, we’re removing the £250,000 and you’ve got to play on” and in terms of the rules I don’t think he could’ve argued against it
I liked this show but it just got to the point where superstition, weird rituals and nonsensical strategy took up so much time and conversation that I couldn't bear watching it any longer. It is a simple game of chance, but Noel and most contestants treated it like something borderline spiritual.
yeah and when someone came on who just opened the boxes in numerical order or whatever because they knew it was just chance, Noel treated it like some amazing unprecedented strategy
Totally agree.. It became ridiculous the amount of nonsense people used to spout.. Also how people used to get so emotional saying it was just like a family and how much they would miss everyone blah blah blah...
This really does show that there was only one adjudicator who fills the boxes every episode, and it is still the same in the rebooted 2023 version. So a lot of pressure on one person.
@@jamesbooker6103 However they have got a different banker - this of course is interesting, as we now near fully know the original banker was Glen Hugill
He doesn't actually see what values are going in each box - so I guess the wayin which he packs them he must actually blind himself somehow? Either an actual blind or he does it only looking at the white backs of the cards? So there must be a little system which occasionally has gone wrong somehow.
@@reedermusic3927 Who in their right mind thinks that the person filling the boxes does so blindfolded LOL The independent adjudicator is the only person who knows where all the money is, it is stated at the start of every game.
I know Noel has had his issues and frankly now, is a bit odd. But I loved watching him present. He was an exceptional live presenter. And while it was sentimental, Noel’s Christmas gifts gave us some exceptional moments.
@@makkapaccaWell I thought someone might say that! But let’s face it, yeah NOW compared to back then and House Party days. Now he really is off his trolley.
Every year on the 29th of April, I've always honored that game by knocking over the nearest box that I see. Last year I pushed over a kid's lunch box which revealed a ham and cheese sandwich, a small blueberry yogurt, and a Capri-Sun.
My Nan used to love Deal or No Deal. So my Mum arranged to take her to the studio near Bristol and watch it live. Unfortunately the warm up guy made a crude joke about my Nan being close enough to “grab Noel’s bollocks”, which made her very upset and she never watched it again.
3:35 if he had said start again they would’ve bring back the sums of moneys that he had chosen from the other boxes earlier in the game back on the screen and then he will have to do that whole thing all over again
Unless I’ve missed something they took all the boxes away but David’s so David then knew at that point the 250k wasn’t his surely that makes his thought process very easy?
I don't understand why they wouldn't just continue the game as is for the second one. Yes the amount was accidentally missing from the box but it doesn't mean they have to reshuffle them all. Should have just continued on as per usual.
Well that was very lucky, because if they would’ve continued, the £250,000 would be out. Even though I’m from the US (New Jersey), I am a huge Gameshow enthusiast.
I think it sets a great example on how gameshows should be made: truthful, fair, and respecting the player's choice. And it's shown on air as well. Just imagine what would happen otherwise. A lot of people would lose faith in luck shows.
To avoid allegations of foul play. Once they found the 250k sticker backstage, at least some members of the production staff (producers, host, technicians, the banker etc) might have known that the 250k was not in his box. So (in theory) their actions after that point might change the final outcome of the game. For example, if the banker knew, their next offer might be lower. This way they minimise the chance of future complaints/legal action etc if the player feels they have been robbed of a fair shot.
I don’t Remember Half Of There’s where The Card has fallen from The Box I certainly don’t recall ever meeting The Woman Who puts the Money in The Boxes
It’s a show where people randomly open boxes and pretend there’s strategy involved. The fact it has lasted as long as it has is nothing short of a miracle.
All these contestants who carry pendants, have 'lucky' numbers, get a 'feeling', ',KNOW they have a big number are deluded. Its a game of chance and luck. They say on every show 'You agree you picked your box at random, and only the independent adjudicator knows what's inside your box.' What they don't tell you is that the 'independent adjudicator' is also the banker..!!
What about his own box he chose though box 3 , 🤔 Did that get shuffled and he got box 3 with a different amount, imagine he had more in his box originally, you would never know now
The boxes are randomly picked by each of the 25 contestants before the show out of a hat. The people around the edge are all future contestants, not paid models like the US version.
To avoid the cash amounts falling from the lids, they could have had the amounts permanently printed on the inside of the lid. The boxes could be sealed, shuffled and then the box numbers would be attached to the boxes in a random order.
They did have the amounts printed in box at the very beginning of the time it was on but all the amounts were in black , but I suppose they wanted it to look more jazzy having it the way you see it in this clip, and it’s more obvious to the audience at home and the players playing to see if it was a blue or red they revealed
One issue you could have with this is what is that that gives an opening for cheating. What if someone could make a mark on the 250k box - a tiny dent, a dot of ink, whatever you like - that would identify it. I mean you wouldn’t even necessarily need someone to make that mark, you might notice some tiny detail about the 250k box that would allow you to identify it.
no i meant they asked the male contestant whether he wanted to start again or have them shuffled and start again. the girl at the end the adjudicator was brought out because the number had just slipped off the top@@itskdog
@@jamesstevenson9340 exactly. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. People need to go home after this show etc. people won’t want to sit around all night. Neither would the producers or the presenter
Hated the fake camaraderie of this show. One big happy family, all in it together. Utter bs. Oh u r such an amazing person, oh I'm going to miss you, on the brink of tears, every single contestant is the same. Just open the goddamn box! Stop dragging the game out! And the contestants on the main chair really pies me off. Suddenly they are centre stage and think they are a comedian, acting aloof and in charge, again dragging the game out with their stupid systems to win the game. It's infuriating.
@@harloogaphone oh god, I can just imagine, then it’ll be weird voodoo chants and bizarre dances wearing lucky scarves and hats, then someone will bring an urn full of their nanas ashes 🤦🏾
Noel can handle a few small hiccups after having killed a participant on a previous TV show. Like a true gent, he did send a bunch of flowers to the grieving widow afterwards.
This is the most American comment, from someone who obviously doesn't understand how highly rated this show was with Noel and now with Stephen. One of the most basic, but best British game shows. That fact it's returned after 6 years with virtualally no change shows (okay maybe a little change as in no swaps and lower grand prize)
With a lot of shows, the UK tends to go for a more modest and homely vibe so it appeals to a broad audience, being too expensive and costly can come off corporate and superficial.
its just fake. they faked it for drama. the fact you make a youtube video out of it shows the point of the fakery. Its a somewhat interesting thing, whereas when things go correctly its totally unremarkable.
Totally useless show. Absolutely random where the big money is and it is there from the beginning. There's no skill or strategy in the show. Utter crap.
They brought the adjudicator out to check everything was above board - the sticker was in the box when it was sealed, it just fell down. It's not like the 250k clip where the box was sealed without putting the sticker in.
