Terri Myrick most of the time they go to antique malls who are aware of the costs of certain items. Sometimes people reach out to her too. The thrill of it all is finding that one bargain you bought for merely nothing compared to its actual value... I found a 1940s stage light worth $1000 in the goodwill trash. Its exhilarating.

@@jaimiemorue2133 Part of it is people can't afford it, or they don't know where to look or they don't realize the value of having a few high quality pieces vs. the cheaper stuff. I live in DR Congo, and one of the best things about living here is fabric is relatively cheap, and so are tailors, so even as a paid volunteer (I have living expenses paid for plus a small monthly stipend), I can afford to get custom made clothing made that costs a fraction of what I'd pay in Canada. I love it.

I like vintage because you get unique pieces no one else has and you can mix them with modern things for a custom personalized look. Also I found clothes originally from the 50s often fit perfect I think people were more petite then. Sizes have changed so much what used to be a size 12 is now called a size 8 for customers vanity and they don't make enough small sizes anymore imo.
@AnnaLVajda
@AnnaLVajda 4 года назад
That's part of the demand I think since current fashion dictates what is available if your size or favourite colours are not popular for the season you have to look elsewhere to get the styles you want.

@lilyv4524

In the 50's many women were curvy
@pomarorange
@pomarorange 8 лет назад
+DarkwingsDesending Most vintage clothes were for curvy women. There's a difference between curvy and fat.
@DarkwingsDesending
@DarkwingsDesending 8 лет назад
Women were not curvy compared to today's standards. I wear a size eight and it can be very difficult to find clothes my size. I never said it wasn't out there.Also, people's definition of curvy was very different compared to today's definition of curvy. Not to mention that every few years, the sizing scale changes.
@pomarorange
@pomarorange 8 лет назад
DarkwingsDesending If anything, their definition of curvy was more like today's "chubby", so that's a pretty lame excuse. Being fat unfortunately makes it a lot harder to find clothes, so either you deal with it or you decide to get healthy.
@DarkwingsDesending
@DarkwingsDesending 8 лет назад
Oh please. Calling someone fat? Really? How mature. I'm 130 pounds and if that's fat, then you need to check yourself. I'll check it for you. It's not. Also, I find it sad that you bother to call others fat when you don't even have a picture of yourself up. Also, considering I'm close to graduating with a B.A. in history, I can tell you that is only parially true. People were more slight back then and that's a fact. You have no right to tell a person to "deal with it or decide to get healthy" when you don't have a picture for anyone else to judge and you likely don't have a medical degree.
