When my kids were younger, I would send some of their artwork in the mail to grandparents. They enjoyed getting mail from the grandkids, and it gave a natural outlet for reducing the papers.
Great idea to store everything in one location! I have several spots now and too much stuff. Just started shredding unnecessary bank statements that I should have shredding immediately instead of saving. Thanks 😊
You are the best. Seriously. You have given me so much inspiration and motivation. I have decluttered and organized my kitchen and bedroom already and I've been watching your videos for only a week or so. Thank You so much for helping me, I feel I can breath lighter when I enter those organized areas of my house, we had so much more than we needed. Seriously. You are the best. ❤️🙌
I am already a dedicated paper minimalist, but I learned so much from your tips and ideas! The idea to keep all the paper in one area is revolutionary. I have it in one room, but will work on getting it all into one closet as you suggest.
Several years ago I made files so finite that I hardly ever used or filled. I could relate so much to your elaborate file system. Can’t wait to rid myself of all those. Thank you
I love your file box! I have about 8 binders standing on a shelf with papers and it's driving me nuts! I probably can get rid of most of it by now. A box with some folders seems a lot more convenient.
I loved this video! I love to hear you talk about avoiding paper coming into the house. I think that helps a ton. I don't get magazines or catalogs anymore, plus it gets rid of temptation to buy stuff you don't need!
Good tips! I keep important docs like birth certificates in a fire resistant container. If it’s all together it’s easy to grab and run in an emergency as well.
Hi Shannon this was so good - ✅✅✅. I have definitely implemented all of these ideas- I also unsubscribe where possible pay bills automatically online & deal with the mail if there is any immediately. I also have one designated spot & each member of the family has their own file 💖❤️ Makes life so much easier & Stress free 😘 love your videos & channel you are always so bright & positive 💖👍🏼💐
I need to get better at organizing my papers but I’m managed to keep them minimal. I used to struggle with paper clutter years ago so it feels great to have it simplified now. P.s your hair looks pretty ☺️💛
I’m pretty good with paper already but if you could get a 3 drawer file cabinet down to a single small bin, so can I! Thank you for the inspiration. My kids are all grown and I still have an 18 gallon tote, for each kid! I need to go through those today!!
Nikki, if you didn't go through the totes, I'd suggest just giving them to each child and have them keep what they want. That's what I did with my son when he was in his mid-late 20's.
@@bonesbigfoot2654 I went through them. I saved a few things I wanted and put the rest back and in the rafters of our garage. Once they all get settled, away the totes will go to their houses! Thank you for the encouragement. My mom did the same to me. Once I moved out she showed up with 4 totes of my stuff.
Ironically, COVID has helped me with this a lot. Since I need to wipe down everything that comes into the house or put it in our "quarantine room" for three days, i am much more aware of how much junk we get. I have been doing a good job of dealing with it as soon as it comes in the house, but need to start taking us off lists!
Yes to the unsubscribe! I can’t stand all the paper and fuel wasted with weird catalogs that show up at my house, especially around the holidays. I make a pile to go through while I have down time working from home and use that to go online and get off the lists.
@@shannontorrens1 hi Shannon. We had not only unsubscribed but in addition we have also a sticker on our mailbox 📫 with “No flyer and catalogue please”. This works very good here in Switzerland 🇨🇭 and maybe you can try it out? It is a very cheap solution.
Hi, Shannon. I have those pages from the pediatrician each well visit. I kept them thinking I would update his baby book. I am about 12 yrs behind on that one with a 14 yr old. lol Do people even do baby books anymore? Thanks for this video!
Hi Kimberly, I am self employed, but I don't have a ton of receipts. I usually just put them all in an envelope that is marked with the year and put that in my file box. Any digital receipts I save in a folder on my computer.
My dad gets magazines in my name because I have a discount from college and I loathe it. I tell him to get it online to view and they just stack up. I tell him if he cares about his grandchild he would be kinder to the Environment for her and not give a market for paper waste.
I know how you feel about the environment because we are also trying really hard to be less wasteful, but it can be really hard to explain that to people who don't see the problem. I try to do my best and also be an example and hopefully in the future it will get better. =)
I'm happy to unsubscribe email inbox junk but they're persistant and have had to email the company to get them to stop! I like the NZ PAYE tax system but then that's all I've known. BTW your kids' art is really good!
Thank you Jo! I agree is it a lot of work to unsubscribe, I have one mailer that no matter how many times I call they still throw is on my front porch.
