Dean Friederich reviews the Haval H6 GT - a family SUV with attitude! 

A lot of people are wondering about Haval fuel consumption. But reading the current trip average during the trip is not the way to do it. Do a proper home-to-work and back trip in mixed conditions over the course of a month, incorporating both urban and freeway routes, then come back and report it. I have a much-loved Mazda CX-5 2.0 (manual, non-turbo) which I am getting an average of 7.1 l/100km over the past 3 years of driving here at the Reef. The previous owner had it for 1 year from new, and was getting 12.8 l/100 km ! She must have been driving like an absolute hooligan…. This shows how responsive cars are to driving style, and yes, no doubt other factors like traffic conditions, topography, even weather can also change the picture, but the main factor is how is the owner driving ? Shows how 2 different owners can get vastly different readings (on the same vehicle). To come back to my point, if I start a trip, in the first few kilometres, my avg trip consumption is high at around 14 litres / 100 km. But when I’ve reached my destination that total avg trip consumption will have come right down over the full distance. Depending on my destination in the city, traffic, if I take the highway, and if I’m in a hurry, etc, I’ve seen avg trip consumptions from a low of 4.9 (yes, you read that right) all the way to 12.5 litres per 100 km. I would never read the trip consumption at only one part of the trip, only at the end. Please do the same, to give viewers a far more accurate depiction of real consumption.

Great review, love this car, I’m in Australia and this car is selling out everywhere . You are seeing more and more Haval’s on the road every week. I wish we got the green interior but we just get red on the seats but black stitching everywhere . But I notice in China they have matching green seatbelts also A lot of people make the mistake about not knowing how to use the infotainment screen , you only swipe down on screen and all the shortcuts to most items are there for you like the driving mode etc . And u have a favourite button on your steering wheel to access things easier . This is just one thing that irks haval owners when reviewers don’t know how to access things before posting reviews Your fuel usage is way over average and you fuel consumption on screen is based on your recent driving style not the actual fuel economy . Although in Oz we get a lux or ultra version
