Agree, we will never see their like again. There may be significant groupings ahead but I don't see then having the history and impact of Martin and The Mills Brothers.
Pure talent! Absolutely love Dean Martin but the Mills brothers are up there with him especially Harry who I believe Dean emulated. I was definitely born in the wrong decade and wish I could have seen these guys playing live! Thank you for uploading this
Wow. The talent this group displays - along with the unbridled fun they are clearly having up there on stage together - puts a huge smile on MY face. What happened to us? Yes I KNOW styles and times change, and there is plenty of good talent out there - but the wonderful combination of talent, showmanship, and class we see up on this clip seems to have all but evaporated from the world today. Well, thankfully we have YT now, and can easily reencounter these magical moments.
My Dad always had Martin & and the Mills Brothers playing in our home. I was born in 1950, but loved them just as much as my Dad did who was born in 1913.
Marvellous! A whole show in three fantastic minutes of entertainment. Dino is brilliant and with his idol Harry Warren he pulls out all the stops. This is show business at its finest so thanks for bringing it back to us Deano:)
+john banks ..john..one of the great things about Dean was he never took himself too seriously, and was always able to make fun of himself..I think after his tough going in the early years, he knew how fortunate he was to have become a superstar for doing something which he loved..I always tell people one of the reasons I like him better than Sinatra, is that with Dean, you could always "hear" the smile in his voice as you listened to him sing, without video....I wish I could have seem just once in night club performance either in the early years with Jerry Lewis, or later as a solo act, because even tho he enjoyed enormous success on TV in the movies, radio etc..he always thought of himself as a "saloon singer"...His longtime Producer, Greg Garrison summed him up best by saying..."Every woman wanted to be with Dean...and every man wanted to BE Dean"...Just a great entertainer...
I totally agree ,,, this will never be again....Dean Martin and the Mills Brothers when they sing brings back a flood of memories and also tears, some people come just once and can never be replaced
Dean love the mills brothers when, he was younger he went too see them performing and he pattern his singing ability after thdm and when he had his show it was history
I'll second the comment someone made earlier: Dean said that people always thought he modeled his style after Bing Crosby, and there is an influence there, but he said his real inspiration was Harry Mills.
Dustin Blythe If you'd seen some early film appearances, it's very clear that Harry's histrionics/mannerisms were adopted by Dean Martin--who obviously adored him.
Steubenville is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. Located along the Ohio River 33 miles from Pittsburgh, it had a population of 18,659 at the 2010 census. The city's name is derived from Fort Steuben, a 1786 fort that sat within the city's current limits and was named for Prussian military officer Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben
Classic Dino and his Schtick!! Actually many people don't know that his favorite drink of choice was "Apple Juice" NOT Whiskey. He had his cigarette 🚬 and hand on a drink, to give him that Playboy and Bad Boy Imagery but he wasn't an alcoholic. It was ALL an act 🎬 🗣💫💥✔️👍👊💯
Rather frequent guests on Martin's show around this time, I do recall watching this episode; as a young child with my mother(who was probably intrigued by these people's common Ohio birthplaces).
Salt & Pepper, Gold & Silver , Oil & Vinegar , Black & White, Coffee & Cream, Sugar & Spice etc.... Things that are meant to be together. Dean Martin & The Mills Brothers
