Thanks for the reply Dave. I had to detroy the layout when i moved house nearly two years ago and sold off most of the locos and stock. I do still have my favourite locos just in case i come back to the hobby one day in the future. Watching your videos makes me miss the hobby but i just dont have the time or money for it now. The backscene are a relatively new product from ID backscenes. They caught my eye! I like them too. Cheers. Dave

Hi, cheers, lol. if you make a flimsy structure its going to need replaced sooner. Also I have to factor in, as best as I can the conditions up the loft. Belt and braces where possible, thats my ethos! Dave

Haha.....a bespoke glass roof.....give me a few years on that. I keep learning the more I do, there is a place for card kits, plastic card and resin models. I think a combination works well. The card kits wont last for ever.....but as they have no natural sunlight etc they have not faded. Cheers. Dave

The locos will spend time in the TMD, the fiddle yard is big enough, but i cant fit all of my 170 coaches out of their boxes at once....but I dont need to, lol. We've never enough space for our hobby!! Dave

hi, the substation is a Bachamann 44-0026 is the code. Its widely available. I think if you look at Video 147 I cover all of the substation area.

Hi, its a walthers kit, American HO/OO. Bit of kit bashing on it, reduced the height too. I just google searched it. Its a big kit, I only used 1/3 of the kit here! Cheers. Dave

Hi, an error jump? I have 16 class 47's....growing all the time.

I could not resist the limited edition Virgin NRM 40 livery released by Locomotion. I therefore HAD to get the coaches to go with it. I can run the current rail scene as I have the Virgin HST, Scotrail Class 68 (I won this in a competition) and also an EAST COAST class 91. I like to run modern day stuff from time to time for a bit of fun, I also have some preserved steam locos that can run on railtours alongside the Virgin stuff etc. Yes its out of era with the majority of the fleet, but I cannot resist a stunning livery. lol Dave

Hi, just Dapol stuff, peco is MEGA expensive!! Not worth it for a large layout. Cheers. Dave

funny you should say that......my new ones, not yet (as they are a new type of more durable polypropylene). my other station side and east end are older poly vinyl premium ones. I find they can lift a little, at the top edge, and on the joins. Only last week I had to take the back board out of position (at the east end behind incline) and lay the board flat, CAREFULLY peel back the join and apply a THIN bit of Pritt stick. Smooth the backscenes back down and carefully pressed in place, make sure no glue oozes out of join. It works! I did it with some other issues on station side of layout a couple of years ago and its held. Also, the self adhesive ones do lift around say a bit of dust (in the paint), but a press down with a smooth cloth does the trick for a while. no surface (unless its glass or plastic) is 100% even, even with sanding, priming, painting with roller) so labels, sticky back will always lift around these imperfections. The joys of model railways..... hope that gives you a bit of encouragement, in that it happens to more than you. ;-( I feel your frustrations. Dave

DaveClass47. Hmm! I had the problem on a large scale on the newest scenes I got around March this year - these are the village long series - now available up to pack E and must be fairly new because I didn't see them last year when I bought the suburbs series (late December).. the suburbs series seems to have held on fairly well unlike the village long.. I took the warmest day last week to peel the whole scenes back and re-stick them with the hope that the heat would warm the adhesive so it would stick better.. I am going to feature this issue in my April update along with the village long having a couple of areas of the image being mirrored - something that I never noticed straight away!

Hi, interesting. I did have a couple of lifted 'bubble' areas with the heat, which is unusual. But a smooth down with a soft clean cloth sorted it.....I aint wanting to peel it all off and get a new scene just for that, I am not at that stage yet. Annoying though isnt it? I suppose the paper ones that are wall papered pasted on will have more issues with creases and bubbles!! Dave

DaveClass47 ...Many problems with my backscenes..have my layout in conservatory so the sunlight shines directly onto it..Tried self adhesive ones and all types of glue but bubbles keep appearing as soon as the sun shines.Decided to take them off and just paint the boards.Very annoying

Sunshine and layouts....not a good combo! Fade and bleach everything and the sunlight isn't good for items such as backscenes, card kits. Annoying about your ones. Dave
