We asked our Facebook followers a while back what drams they'd like us to review and Deanston was one of those suggested. This makes perfect sense for us as it is our most local whisky distillery, its where we both met as well being as a very tasty dram indeed! Its one of those single malts that's not all that well known and a bit of a hidden gem.
We had a bit of a trip down memory lane and reminisced about our time there! Please let us know in the comments if you have any stories about Deanston and what you'd like us to review next!

I got a bottle of Deanston 12 year old today for 68.70 Canadian, Glen Garioch 12 year old for 69.99 and a Macallan Sherry oak, the 43% one for 125 Canadian, am happy ;)

Deanston - Nose - sweet, citrus, orange. Taste - warming, very pleasant, easy to drink, complex flavor. Similar to some other very drinkable whiskies. Hard to do a blind tasting. 8/10.

You both are well informed. And the content is really good. Deanston 12 yr is a quality dram and bottle, priced well in the US at about $53USD. Can you do a comparison between Ardbeg 12 yr and Laphroaig 10 yr?

Definitely, Deanston is a bit of a hidden gem! We have tried many an Arran and visit the distillery regularly! We are fans too! The quarter cask is spectacular.

Hello ladies. Quick question about Deanston 12. Have you tasted any difference whatsoever in this white label you review here and the brown paper bag colored 12 yr old?

That's and interesting question and really hard to say! I think there was probably a long gap between us tasting both bottles so difficult to make a proper comparison. But funny you should mention that just now, we have a video coming up next week trying some new Deanston releases and one of them reminds us of how we remember the 12 year old tasting, back when we worked at the distillery. So there may be a difference or it may be in our heads!? Do you find a difference at all?

@@TheGrailTastings no. Only had the white label one. Also curiously, whenever I spot a store with the brown bottles, they go for $15 less. Could just be the store has old pricing or trying to get them off the shelf to make way for the newer one? Also most of the reviews on it are done with the white label. So the mystery goes on. Thanks for the reply!

@@SaltyCuban We have noticed Deanston getting increasingly better reviews as it didn't used to have the best reputation even 10 years ago. I think the 12 might be quite a bit nicer than it used to be but we'll need to try source some to say for sure, let us know if you end up getting a bottle!

@@TheGrailTastings Ok. It’s tempting. There’s one right now for $40 at a store. I mean why when everywhere else it’s @ $65. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Same goes with the Arran 12. The new beige colored version vs the older white and grey bottle. Both have been getting tons of attention in the last year or two so it would be nice to get that info, since no reviewer has a clue so far.

@@SaltyCuban Yeah for sure I think you're maybe correct with the Deanston with such a big price difference! Ohh cool, we haven't reviewed any Arrans yet so this could be a great comparison if we can source it....tbc!
