That’s a good way to go about getting better at making knives. Letting that guy concentrate on the steel work & you can do all the finishing the details . I can look him up but I’d just want to get maybe 2.
Knice! I know Bobby D used Hog Tooth Knives to oem his Nova1. I'm looking forward to seeing these progress - as for a lanyard tube, I appreciate them exceptionally small ones, and any knife that might be used to chop a bit. The Raptora doesn't seem to be in either of these categories - so for mine I'd say leave it out.
Thats pretty cool you don't see too many knives in 15N20 that aren't part of a Damascus billet. I have 1 custom knife by Dusty at Duckhead Forge in 15N20. Looking forward to seeing how they turn out looking good !! I haven't forgot ya Billy I just haven't been home. All work and no play makes JR a dull boy lol.
Awesome man, can’t wait to see the handles! I know this wasn’t a massive order but if I understood it correctly, 3 weeks to a month lead time from start to delivery is impressive. The much quicker turnaround time is one huge advantage I’ve always felt US OEM’s should take more advantage of in their sales pitch, which I’m sure some do. Obviously the easy and continuous communication is huge too!
@@poncho151 agreed 100% ...I never felt like I was forgotten about, and this oem deals with big companies like kershaw...so that speaks volumes to me. As long as they survive testing I'm sure I'll be a return customer.
I do like the look of these designs. What r u looking at price wise for them. Like an chance u could give me a ball park figure as to what ur selling them for.
@@Shifftymking thank you ! The Raptora is the smaller one and if all goes as planned I'm hoping to keep that price around $169 (g10 or micarta scales, and a kydex sheath) shipped with taxes included. The Amydala I'm hoping to keep around the 250 range with (g10 or Micarta and kydex sheath) They're all going to be a little different. I don't want any of them identical to the next. I had a guy ask about a paracord wrapped handle ...and of course that'll knock the price down by about 20 dollars. I may make a few like that just for the people who'd like to have the paracord benefits.
@@apex_alchemy_knives dang that’s a really competitive price for what ur getting with the scales be removable incase I wanted to try my hand at putting different ones on down the road?
Ok mark me down for a raptoura then. I was thinking it would look super sick with a pair of contoured camo carbon scales on there but I’d like to see it with ur handles first as I honestly think as a user micarta or g10 would be better. Also I’m not big on the lanyards but I can understand other people wanting one.
@@Shifftymking I'm going to make one with the same g10 scales I put in dbads knife...just a heads up. If I get the opportunity, I'll work on that this weekend. If I finish it , I'll release a video showing it and you can choose whether it's for you or not. No pressure bro. ...and I haven't found decent screws yet. The only screws I'm seeing that are the dimensions we need for the raptora size ...have tons of complaints about stripping easily. So it may be constructed with pins.
Will we see hardness testing? Lanyards are handy over water or other situations where a dropped knife is gone, they help for chopping. Otherwise they are mostly in the way. These don't look like they were intended to be choppers or boat knives, though the sheepsfoot could make a decent boat knife. Don't make another frame/liner lock, please do liners and a crossbar or back lock and real, non metallic, grips :).
@@andrewfournier8817 this guy doesn't mess with stainless steel at all. I should've mentioned that but there are people who do. I'm a big fan of high carbon myself so it worked for me. Yeah man , sone hollow ground outdoor 14c28n knives could be really cool. It'll likely be awhile before I try to design a folder. Lots of moving parts. I'd need to take a class to learn the ins and outs. It'd be fun though. 😁
@shoresharp8349 no problem bro. Shane said bear and sons is getting most of their stuff made in China now. I wonder if they're still flying under the USA made umbrella.
