I heard this as a kid and heard it again on a shoe called Supernatural. That show played some of the best music ever! This one reminds me of my Pops!

I heard this as a kid on the radio and had forgotten about it. Watching Avengers Endgame made me look. Great tune. I'm grateful for Marvel using the classic rock genre in their movies.

Indeed! It's a good tune for sure. I JUST learned that this has Steve Winwood in it. Possibly on vocals, but definitely I believe he was keyboards. I mean. I JUST heard about it not 10 minutes ago! Haha!

One more thing for me to thank my late, great uncle J.R. for. God above, did that fantastic man introduce me to a hell of a lot of great music when I was growing up.

It is great, using whatever they can to expose newer generations to great music. I know it is not their main goal, but it is a great side effect. I hate thinking that kids growing up these days will have to deal with hearing annoying crap music these days and thinking it is classic. I know every generation says stuff like that, but honestly this was not my generation's music either but my parents exposed me to it as a kid and I forever appreciate that. I even have all their old vinyl now and play it on an old console stereo from 1968 that I refubished. Sounds so damn good.

This is one of my best songs of all time. Because it does get me out of a mood, it makes me happy, makes me laugh, and by doing that you could breakout in tears.

“Traffic member Jim Capaldi wrote the lyrics. Bandmates Steve Windwood and Chris Wood wrote the music. Lyrically, the song is a simple sketch of a tortured artist who sacrifices his own happiness to make the audience happy. That's how it appears, anyway. Some lines, though, are loaded with subtext. "Do anything, take us out of this gloom" implies that the audience lives in a perpetual, or at least persistent, state of unhappiness. Whether that was an observation of the era, of the permanent human condition, or just a random choice of words, isn't clear. "Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy" suggests some level of maliciousness in the audience's demands on the artist. They're ordering him around like a servant, compounding his apparent misery. It creates the impression that he's a slave to his listeners.” Source - “Songfacts”…

There is definitely a quiet discontented under tone , that you don’t quite pick up on the first few listens . It’s a thinker . It’s s brilliant literary devise ,as it is so very subtle. It comes off like a happy happy song. And it is, because the audience is happy . Perhaps the undertone of discontent is because they are being asked for more than they can give . The audience takes takes takes , and you want to make them happy, but your drained and unhappy ?? Anyway great comment . Thanks.

@@BlackAbe007 LoL.😂 +2 points! Someone wrote a song, back in the '80s about New Jersey, "Deep in the heart of Jersey". All I remember from the lyrics is: "Route 17, the traffic there is mean, deep in the heart of Jersey" I don't miss the traffic, the taxes or the attitudes.

This is psychedelic rock from the 60s, it was made 55 yrs ago in 1967, the the 60s and 70s had the best classic rock songs cause they were creative and the country was in a midst of the Vietnam War, civil rights racial tensions, country was bad in the 60s cause of the war in Vietnam War and civil-rights protesting and when soviet union and US almost went to war with each other and start ww3 and would annihilated the war and make it a wasteland if Hella amount of nuclear weapons were used in the world, atleast the music was great during that time unlike today where the music is 98 percent garbage in all genres and the world is on the brink of ww3 cause of the Russia Ukraine war cause were at Defcon 3 and that's more serious then during the cold war between the soviet union and America during the cold War of the 70s and and 80s.
