Dear Netflix: Your Excuse For Cancelling Sense8 Sucks 

I still can't believe a tv show like 13 reasons why got renewed for a second season. Despite the controversy and the fact that the story was already completed..

I have never seen a series that affected me the way Sense8 has. It was about diversity and inclusion. It never took its viewers for granted instead it gave us a compelling story. AllI ask for is for the stories to be brought to some kind of conclusion.

Keep making those Adam Sandler movies Netflix (that no one watches).

If you cancel it, just give us a proper ending. I just want a decent send off that wraps the story or sets the characters on a path that allows us to feel like the story is completed.

SENSE8 was my favorite show on netflix!!! SO AMAZING AND SO DIVERSE.

I think my biggest issue with this cancellation, when it comes down to it, is that streaming services have created this persona of being better than your average network because they'll save your shows to continue a story if necessary. The fact that they cancelled Sense8, with season 2 being out for only a month, after s2's major cliffhanger feels like a betrayal. Like, they couldn't even offer us a wrap up special? I know when it comes down to it these big companies are only looking at the dollar signs, but it still feels like a disrespect when you end a story in this way. I love these characters and just want to see them all end in a good place. With that said, I like the idea of Sense8 going to book/comic/graphic novel form if that's the only way we have to finish this story.

PS: Kala and Wolfgang were finally together and they are my favorite couple so I need to see how their story ends! Also would like to know if Cafeus wins the presidency, how Lito's movie turns out, justice for Sun... so many good stories!

Netflix is more concerned to promote suicide (13RW) than to give the world a good show and a good message in the coolest way possible. That's the real reason.

Sense8 has created a family in the characters and also us as the audience. We need closure to know the family is going to be okay. Finish the story.

You couldn't have said it any better David! Agreed 100%, downright disappointed! Also, I can't seem to fathom the obsession over a season 2 for 13 reasons why. We only needed 13 tapes (episodes) to understand what Hannah went through, and whatever happens after her suicide is insignificant. I'm pretty sure when season 2 comes out, people will be disappointed it wasn't as good as the first. Sense8 season 3 still had more diverse stories to tell under its sleeves, can't believe we don't get any closure!! I don't know how I'll be able to sleep at night.

I heard some fans didn't even know season 2 was on Netflix until a few days after it actually came out. No communication. Sense8 is such an incredible and groundbreaking show, and it deserved so much better. I hope that it's continued or wrapped up in some format, and is given the closure it deserves.

as far as the cost, the first season was half payed for by another entity, netflix decided to absorb the whole cost of season 2 even when the other entity said they would keep paying for it. so much BS on netflix part.

Netflix is pulling a Firefly. There must be a way to work around the cost, heck Game of Thrones does it.

sense 8 is one of the best series i watch. im sad Netflix ended. it has lot of potential. i understand how expensive the series is and also lack of support. i think Netflix need to promote/advertise it more to gain more fans.

There are so many secondary plot points that needed to be completed, like the Fake drug business, Lito's Hollywood movie, Capheus in politics, Berlin's gang wars and an overall understanding of the other sensates. Even a 6 hour movie can't wrap that all up. After season 2, it seemed like the next season would be even better! Netflix really should've thought this through by reducing locations since we already got a feel of all the places in season 1.

I was so gutted that they cancelled sense 8.Total bullshit😡Here's a tip I contacted Netflix over the phone and voiced my outrage and disappointment at the cancelation of my favorite show.I then asked for my subscription to be canceled due to this and they were very quick to offer payment for the next month.Emailing and signing petitions don't work.Calling is best.So get on board people.The best we can hope is that they do a movie length episode to finish the story line at least.Great video 😊

Sense 8 is literally my favorite show of all time. I've never had a favorite before because I'm not a person that typically deals in favorites of things but this show has so many of the things I like in entertainment all wrapped into one. I don't see how a two hour finale could possibly do it justice. I'm so upset and it's been almost a year.

their excuses for cancelling the show have all been proven to be a lie, cost wasnt a issue coz they already had a finance company ready to finance s3, but netflix said to them no we want to finance our own show, and as soon as that happened they were like oh its too costly.

😭😭😭😭😭😭 I miss "The Get Down" and "Sense8".

I mean I really do think that the budget was the only big issue, and justified, as well. The story was amazing and it was a trailblazer in so many ways, not just for the LGBTQ+ community. Yet there was a reason why Sense8 came out in 2015 and didn't get a 2016 season - it was expensive af. Netflix has many other "diverse" series that, while not as big nor as critically acclaimed, are still produced simply because it's cheaper. The first that comes to mind is "Chewing Gum," a relatively simple and wacky show that produces short 6 episode seasons that each last about half an hour. It's hilarious, not all that expensive, but is a bit less known than shows like Sense8. Netflix had to make a decision about what shows to finance and Sense8 was too much of a cost to produce every other year. Netflix now has "13 Reasons Why" (don't know WHY they're producing a second season but ok" and recently acquired "Black Mirror," a Science fiction show that already has an established fan base. Sense8 was lauded for its diversity and it was touted by Netflix as such. I don't know about the whole "search and find" difficulty because it actually was plastered on my homepage when I went to access it xD but I do see how the budget for the show may have been skewed for marketing. Overall, this show was too big to produce, and the drop in viewership may have been because of the show's weird schedule (new season every other year). As a Hispanic-Asian gay man I am outraged as well, but I don't think the diversity of the show was the real issue. The issue was "13 Reasons Why" and other new shows got big and Netflix needed to make a call, resulting in "The Get Down" and "Sense8" getting shafted to reallocate funds...

Netflix canceling this show had me cancel my netflix subscription. And to this day i never renewed it. And yes I told them why.

Finally I was actually excited and anticipated watching Sense8. For me it was absolutely beautiful! For me it was about the beauty and connection we have with each other.and that we are all the same. This incredible series was about kindness and unity. I don’t know the reason why Netflix cancelled this truly powerful series but for once a different kind of message for a generation of computers and all the tech crap out there, to show real human kindness, trust, love, integrity ....Wow what a powerful message that could have been!

It's been months but I am still mourning. Sense8 doesn't deserve this. A movie finale is coming up sure but I would want something longer. I miss the characters already.

I am shook. Up until this point I had no idea either show got canceled. I just read the petition and Im glad were getting closure but this is so insane! Sense8 has got to be one of the best shows of all time.

The only thing I need from them is a two hour special, a finale to wrap up the story, especially now that the production wouldn't be as expensive. It's a slap on the face, Netflix got too big and now feels like they can do whatever, oh well, I already canceled my subscription and won't renew until they announce that they'd do something for fans of Sense8.

Look on the bright side. Now we're officially getting a conclusion to the series with a 2 hour special in the works set to be released in 2018. Although I do prefer one final season because everyone knows how 2 hours for a show like this goes by in a flash. The show indeed looks expensive to produce, but looks so much fun traveling from location to location. Plus its so original, which is the main reason I'm so in love with it.

Just one more episode, that's all we need. We only need one SINGLE EPISODE to give us closure, after having invested so much time, after having given so much of our love to these fictional characters, after having thrown SO MUCH MONEY at these people-is ONE MORE so much to ask, truly? This isn't even just a first world problem, everybody needs closure. To deny someone closure is the worst kind of cruelty

and also not to forget that season one had two years to get the viewership so high but then the second season got cancelled before alot of those ppl that watched S1 would have known it was even available to watch. I just think they should have given it longer to get people watching. aswell as the thing when people who hadn't watched it want to watch something that they know will have 4-5 seasons that they can get into.

I just discovered Sense8 on Netflix. What a hidden amazing gem! Disappointing no season 3. Very orginal, reviting script, perfect casting. I hope Netflix revisits Season 3.

I read somewhere Netflix had an arrangement with another company in regards to the funding of Sense8, this company paid half the cost of season 2 and was prepared to pay half of season 3. Anyone else hear this? The Wachowski sisters are pretty well known and respected, I wonder if there's any chance they could take their show to hulu or another network? A few hours ago Netflix released an announcement that there is going to be a two hour finale. I wish it wasn't cancelled in the first place though.

Well....weeks after this video was published, a two-hour series finale was greenlit by Netflix with a projected broadcast date for some time in 2018. It was released on June 8, 2018--exactly one year after this video hit RU-vid. FYI, this series always intrigued me, but I didn't have a chance to watch it until after it had been canceled and the finale was released. I bingewatched all episodes over a weekend, and have started watching them again because there's stuff I missed, or didn't get the first time. Now I'm pissed it wasn't renewed--despite the very satisfying ending.

I am saddened by the cancellation of the show also! I feel that the concept of people from all walks of life being connected may go over some heads, however there are others of us who understand and are intrigued by it. I wish they would reconsider their actions and bring it back!

There's also the fact that they released season 2 during exam season for a lot of countries, and a huge part of the demographic would be people around that age, who would have chosen to not binge-watch and wait until exams were over to watch it (that's what both my friend and I did), but then they cancel less than a month after it's released when a lot of people haven't even finished it, maybe because of exams or other reasons, and then blame it on viewership? it's so stupid it's unbelievable. And there's the fact that they didn't promote it like at all, so a lot of people wouldn't have been able to find it if they didn't know what it was. A few of my friends who use Netflix ALOT didn't even know about it until I mentioned it to them, whereas they knew oitnb and house of cards etc because they see the adverts all the time, sometimes even on tv or buildings, even though they don't watch them. It such a shame really, Sense8 deserved so much more recognition and I really hope we can persuade them enough to do SOMETHING.

Man, I'm glad you told me that the show ends on a cliffhanger- that's totally one of my pet peeves. I completely forgot Season 2 came out, and now I know not to watch it until they decide to end the story properly.

This cancellation hurt a lot, and as an avid tv watcher, its to be expected, and Ive had shows I loved cancelled on me before, but never like this and on this scale. In an ideal world, a la Looking, we get a finale movie that wraps everything up nicely, I think us fans would be more than appreciative of that kind of conclusion. Will it happen, well with today's official Netflix response (kinda just saying "oh well")... its seeming unlikely.

The advertising (or lack of) theory definitely has weight. I saw little to no twitter ads compared to other Netflix series that ran the trailers on a loop. I also had to search for Sense 8 as the second season did not appear on the "recently added" option on the main Netflix page. I only knew the second season was out because of tweets from Brian J Smith!

I AGREE! Why are they canceling the shows that deserve closure, but they kept shows that already closed the storyline? RIDICULOUS. Plus, The Get Down and Sense8 filled a gap that had been empty for WAY too long!

Not sure what means but Netflix removed "Finale coming in 2018'' from all the banners, and they delayed the trailer after the reaction on Brasil CCXP. (Valeria said it would be released within days, but it didn't). Maybe they are rethinking everything after all the actions from the fanbase, and it's growth (I mean Sense8 fanbase has grown so fast since it was canceled, with some serious numbers)

What a lame excuse it is to say that you wanna "take risks" and "try something crazy," when the shows that are being pushed are like every other teenage show with cliche character archetypes. Thank you! Great comments. I did enjoy Stranger Things, but it was really just a rehashing of the movies from my childhood. Nothing new. Sense8 was totally new! Groundbreaking in so many ways. When looking back on the sci-fi series of Netflix of the last few years, cultural critics are going to have a lot to say about the ground-breaking nature of Sense8 and not much about Stranger Things. For comparison, everyone still talks about Star Trek as a cultural touchstone. Lost in Space? Not so much.

I think we are leaving one thing out of the picture: WACHOWSKI SISTERS. They could be probably our best partner in this. They are the creator, we should ask them for what's next? Let them know we need to know more of this marvelous show. I also think that a Graphic Novel would be a good way to continue the story we love so much.

An iconic cult classic that is still relevant. I only discovered it during the 2020 lockdown. I’ve resorted to rewatching it multiple times since I’m STILL looking for a show that equals it. I wish we al least had a season 3 (for a less rushed wrap up although I’m at least grateful we got the finale so Wolfgang wasn’t left in limbo).

I was very disappointed to hear about Sense8's cancellation. I need to understand what that finale was and without more episodes, I don't think I ever will. ( I cannot agree with you on Stranger Things, that show was my jam from the opening theme. It gives me LIFE)

Oh, thank you SO MUCH for this video. I was chatting with a friend on Growlr, on Sunday, May 21, 2017, that I had only recently found out (at the time) that Season 2 of "Sense8" was now available on Netflix, so probably two to three days before that. And I have signed the petition, and "mentioned" to Netflix that I want the show to return, at the very least, for Season 3, which, if memory serves, is already complete, yes? As for conspiracy theories, I do not know of any, and I must admit, not really caring about them, right now, because I simply want this show to return. It was racially diverse, as well as ethnically, very LGBT-positive, very sex-positive, so many great sex scenes, and definitely action-packed. And, I must admit, I personally enjoyed that every episode was not the average forty-two minutes long.

I am still, after 21 days, not even able to hear the word Netflix's without thinking what a bunch of senseless and unapperciating induviduals for cancelling a show that was truly groundbreaking and relevant today, through its characters in terms of diversity etc!! Sense8..Netflix, imagine if Amazon bought it!!

The least they could do is give us a two-hour special episode to tie up all the loose ends. Less people are going to watch it in future if they know it doesn't have a proper resolution, so it's a bad investment to not let it have some kind of ending.

I’m so confused, season 2 released a year ago and JUST NOW it’s saying “new episodes” on Netflix like I honestly thought it was just released this weekend.

Another huge issue is that both Sense 8 and The Get Down were fully written. That means everything was already planned out to the very end and it wouldn't have been a show that just kept renewing because of popularity. They would have had satisfying endings.

I would love if you made a video commenting on the show renewal for a finale. I know someone (the writer maybe??) mentioned that the finale doesn't necessarily mean the end, if it does well maybe there will be another season? I would love to see your commentary on this. I personally think it's annoying that we weren't given another season and now they have to attempt to end the show in two hours? I'd also like to see how you feel about how the community came together to make this happen, and what else we could come together to do to further LGBT+ in mainstream media.

The fact that this show was the most expensive ever made in netflix's history and had next to no advertising of the show? Stupid move on their part. You don't pour all of your money into something and barely sell the product. Seriously. The CEO is shite.

I'm devastated it's cancelled, I finished watching season 2 and found out not long after and already couldn't wait for season 3 due to the cliffhanger, and season 3 could have cost a lot less to make(for reasons obvious to people who have seen the full season 2). I liked stranger things and 13 reasons why but I felt like they ended well and didn't need a 2nd season but Netflix are just milking it, whereas Sense8 could go a lot further in terms of story to be told. I really hope they reconsider this or give the rights of Sense8 to another TV company to pick this up and renew it as I just want to know what happens next after season 2.

All of my friends and myself are so upset this show is being cancelled by Netflix and agree wholeheartedly with this young man's video. WE ARE ANGRY!!!
