At our SA, the employees clog the checkout line with full carts of merchandise at closing time. It’s DISGUSTING! They despise resellers…but people in need aren’t going to buy most things we buy.

At our Salvation Army in Jacksonville Florida, the back employees are allowed a 1 item each per week as part of their pay, they actually have vouchers. But only if they are part of the drug rehabilitation program & don’t get paid, they get room & board for their work. That’s how ours S.A. works at least.

Yepppp. I was recently conversing with a fellow reseller at goodwill waiting for new racks to come out.. a tagger walked out from the back, handed him a neatly folded stack of tees and a vintage carhartt jacket. Will never go back!

We had a HUGE scandal at the Goodwill stores in San Jose, California area 10-15 years ago where a district manager, her hubby and relatives ran a backdoor theft ring for decades before they were caught. Skimmed off all the best stuff that came in the door at multiple locations as she would install her relatives in managerial positions. It is a very, very wealthy area and very close proximity to San Francisco and a short flight to LA etc.

I love you guys straight called out the salvation army and then narc them off. I mean we all know there's shady stuff going on in the back rooms at thrift stores. But it not everyday you get to catch them up on it. Then while calling the lady out on it she makes it even worse. Lol. Love your videos.

The policy here is the employees aren't allowed to shop at the store AT ALL, let alone take something before it goes to the floor.

First saturday in may we are having our yard sale and its gonna be a huge one since we buy storage units and this is the first since last year. Gonna have some really great stuff! Come see us lol!

Hubby and I love you guys! We live just south of you in Florida. We do have a question. Instead of supporting Goodwill stores, thoughts on mainly supporting the animal charity shops, habitat for humanity shops, st vinny, etc. In our town alone, we have so many.

At the salvation army and good will..stores in our area employees can purchase once it goes on the floor and they are off work and can come back in store to purchase

The salvation army here (southeast FL) holds things for employees. They put it behind the counter or bring it in a cart to the back. I'm in there enough to know this.

The stores around me - 3 hrs southeast of Buffalo - only 1 or possible 2 people are allowed to price - this is supposed to stop employees from pricing too low for themselves or friends . It works when it is somebody who doesn't work at that particular store - but is also annoying when something is not marked and you can not buy it until it is priced. Once an item has been marked it can be purchased by an employee at their discount. Love watching the redo of the house- it's lovely!

Nice to see you up in Our area of town. By the way, another scenario Is..... Price and tag the jacket and not put it out on the floor, Then when the Final Color Discount price hits, they walk it to the register and buy it of .99 Cents.

I watched the employees at a Catholic Ladies of Charity store arrive in the parking lot on a Monday to open the store. I was driving at a distance so I pulled over and watched all 5 of them go through the large stack of weekend donations outside and load up what they wanted into their vehicles before opening the thrift store. This was several years ago in Bastrop Texas

The rehabilitation center I was in for Salvation Army was awesome besides being laced while I was there and certain staff attempting to give me items then trying to extort me

Enjoyed your trip to New York. I'm a Jersey girl myself, now I'm on the Treasure Coast. I know in the GW's And Sallies by me, the concert tee shirts and good sports stuff is looked up and priced accordingly. At the bins in Lake Worth the concert tee shirts are pulled before the stuff is rolled out. I'm primarily a hard goods reseller, but I learned a lot from watching you and Alli. Great job with the bedroom. Atlanta is a great area for thrifting. I have family there. I think from where you are it's a six hour drive.

Eastern Michigan has some awesome Goodwill's and other thrift stores. They have a lot of antique furniture, that would go great in the house.

Everyone skims when they work at these places. It's just the world we live in. As long as they pay the same as we would, employee discount OK, then OK. Not cool if they price it way low, though.

the room turned out great. i like the color combo. i've seen making chalk paint mixing plaster of paris with latex paint; and i have seen mixing latex paint with fabric softener (for a leather like look). i would be interested to see how using all 3 products would turn out. i've never seen that combo used before. i'll keep watching (this channel and the other one)

In high school we had to volunteer at 3 different charities as part of our service project. Salvation Army was one of the ones I chose. I was working with the community service people. One of the employees came back there and started berating us for being there because she thought I was a community service worker too. Same women then had us load donations into her car that were just dropped off. They were never priced and I never saw her even pay for them. She is truly just as bad as the criminals forced to work there for free. Even worse if you ask me because she was stealing from a charity. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. Many years later I worked for a Goodwill and same crap. Goodwill underpays their hourly employees and the top people make 6-7 figures a year. As a result I only donate my items to two charities in my area because I feel they are the most honest and do the most good.

Honestly I don't agree with you guys concerning employees not having an opportunity to pick some items prior to it going to the floor because they are not paid a lot and some should be able to have at least two or three items a week the salvation army have more than enough items to assist them with their causes one or two items shouldn't make or break their bottom line I feel as resellers we should understand that I we have so many hard working employees at these stores and calling they out like that is not fair especially on camera at least block out their faces.

I live in Michigan and I've caught them pulling merchandise off the floor that has the 50% tag on it for the week. When I asked them why they were doing it they didn't have an answer. SA has become sketchy in the last few years. I appreciate what they do for people, but they are shooting themselves in the foot with their practises and pricing. I hardly ever shop their stores anymore. The stuff they sell is donated, it's not a retail shop. They need to remember that.

Alot of these SA and goodwills have been doing this crap!!! Smh

If your low on space just ship it to your house on a flat rate box. Stuff everything in as tight as possible

Suggestion...if possible I'd love to see you thrift in DC, Baltimore, and Philly while enjoying what those locals have to offer as far as activities. I loved the NY videos...my all-time favorite to-date.

My husband used to work for Value Village and they have to price and put it out . Only get a small discount. Salvation Army in my town requires items to be priced and on the floor for 24hrs before they can purchase. No discount. I would not he surprised at any retailer ,thrift or otherwise, has back door deals.

My goodwill hold for friends who are resellers and it's priced really low.. sold right from the back room.. It doesn't help to bring it up😢

Hi Happy Couple! You’re so close to Canada. If you have your passports with you, or you have an enhanced drivers license, you should cross over into Ontario. I haven’t been in a long time to suggest what towns but there are so many in and around the border and on the way to Toronto. Big plus, the US dollar is worth $1.37 Canadian.

Don’t worry about the pro line cowboys I found the same one last week they had it priced at 29$ I got em to mark it to 19$ I checked comps and still left it comps aren’t strong on the quarter zip pullover one anyway atleast I believe I was comping correctly lol

That blond cashier was NOT HAPPY that you pointed out that employees may be holding items for themselves or relatives, or a reseller who gives them under the table cash, to save items for them to buy. She was telling the manager that it was spoken for already! So I think she may be the one who has "spoken for it"! I've seen people find items hidden in different areas of a Goodwill store, and it makes the resellers I watch always question if a customer or employee his it, for half off day! I get frustrated with a reseller, who complains that prices are too high, yet they charge many times more, for that item, in their reseller store. When it's a charity, that provides help to communities, with the money they make from sales, and a reseller complains about prices being too high, because they want to buy it and make a bigger return, that goes to themselves, I get a little angry. These thrift stores weren't made so resellers could buy things cheap, and turn around and charge so much more. Some resellers forget that. I appreciate how you looked out for the charity, by pointing out that someone may be violating policy.

In my area thrift store's are privately owned, no goodwill, no salvation army. So alot of times, the employees take what they want, and then put out for the shoppers. They don't pay for the items. I believe that's wrong, but what can you do. Some donations are thrown away.

Savers employees are a little smarter about this they overprice the items they wanna keep so no sane person will buy them. Then they wait til it’s color of the week half off, plus employee’s discount and buy the item before that color of the week special opens on that day so the customer never gets a chance to purchase even at half price

I’m surprised Ryan doesn’t have any store connections in Florida. I’m a way smaller vintage seller but I’ve made relationships with all the goodwill managers and thrifts around my area that hold vintage and call me when it comes through, nothing sketchy anyone can make the same relationships they are just upset they can’t resell the jacket themselves. The money is still going to the store and charities it’s not like they get it for free.
