Brockhampton has opened up to fan in an entirely new fashion. This is an authentic expression of both love and lost. the pain is easily transmitted through the screen. I'm able to experience their pain on a level never considered. sorry for the lost of what I perceive as a great friend that they've lost. please help support them that the healing process might begin.

Some more context/theories: Apparently the way the camera is set up with everybody looking towards it is actually supposed to be Ameer's point of view, and the whole music video is an intervention for him. Also, another theory says that this song shows the five stages of grief. In order of appearance: Kevin is denial because he shows no emotion and leaves right after his verse Joba is depression due to the straight up pain he shows Matt Champion is bargaining with how he tries to read the letter/lyrics to Ameer but can't do it all the way Dom is anger for obvious reasons (according to the group, him hitting the camera wasn't planned at all) Merlyn, the really dark dude just sitting on the couch, is acceptance after all the hard stuff that went down. Another fun fact: ameer used to rip up his verses after he recorded them, just like Matt does in this video

So what happened, this dude Ameer and Kevin abstract were best friends since like 14. They all were tight. Then allegations came out that he was sexually assaulting and abusing women and then it came out he set up doms friend to get jumped. That’s why he’s so pissed at the end

There was a deleted tweet from Dom that explained how Ameer set one Dom's friends up to be jumped and robbed when visiting Texas. Thats part of why Dom's verse is makes it seem like he was also betrayed by Ameer.

They had to kick out a member of their group (Ameer) cause of allegations. It hurt them bad cause they were really close. The last guy (Dom) was talking about how he feels betrayed by him cause of some other stuff that happened

The reason the song is called Dearly Departed is because they feel like their friend died after what happened with Ameer which I see has already been explained.

even though this song is about how they feel betrayed because of ameer's acctions, this song is also about death. joba lost his grandma to dementia around the same time that ameer left the group so his verse is about his grandma and ameer. also, matt's verse is about his dead grandparents.
