Would have made for a better character arc if Vanitas said he never got to choose (cuz I seriously doubt Xehanort would have even let him choose to join the guardians of light)
This song doesn’t feel evil. It just feels.... sad. Broken down, like you’re about to give up after a long and difficult fight... 😢 The sorrow definitely sticks.
That is does. It sings of a sad, broken, hollowing tragedy. I can see it being the song to a tragic villian. Someone who's only evil because they never got a chance for anything else. And hides what they really feel in order to achieve what they think they need. Or, a hero who's been pushed past their brink by loss and can't hold the same hope anymore as they turn to the darker side. (Yes. I am a writer. And I eat this shit up.)
Vanitas is a bit of a tragic character. In the manga, he was originally depicted as having the head of a typical Shadow heartless, albeit with red eyes rather than yellow. He was physically incapable of experiencing positive emotion - where others felt joy and contentment, he felt depression and despair. These emotions grew to be strong enough to manifest physically as the Unversed. Vanitas was frightened by them, and struck them down with his keyblade - but every time he did so, he felt a surge of unbearable, body-wide pain. This caused yet more strong negative emotions, creating more Unversed and angering Vanitas, slowly becoming disgusted with his own existence. He cuts them down again and again, waves of agony tearing through his body, until he can take no more; he falls to the ground in tears, wishing for death. Master Xehanort approaches Vanitas in his fragile state and tells him, coldly, that the only release from his tormented existence is to one day re-unite with his other half and forge the X-Blade. He then hears a voice echo from within himself and sees a bright light before a familiar voice calls to him and says 'Let's open the door.' He takes off his mask to find he's been given a new face - that of a certain young man from the Destiny Islands. So, in hindsight - Vanitas' obscene preoccupation with rejoining Ventus and forging the X-Blade isn't because he agrees with Master Xehanort's plan - it's because he hates living, he hates what he is, and he desperately wishes for the pain to end.
As you say, the song is mainly composed by piano and this feeling of melancholy and overall tragedy. But i think that the reason of why this song sound like this is...deep. Cause evil peoples are just heros that never be saved
@@AuthorChanUltimaWeapon Have you met true evil? Faced true evil? They're rarely someone sad and misunderstood - they just think they are. And that the pain they create or imagine for themselves entitles them to hurt others. To take from others. When in reality they live blessed lives in comparison to many who truly know the meaning of struggling on. They enjoy it, either the act of harming others, or the sense of twisted justice and revenge... even though no one specifically sought to hurt them in the first place. They're not heroes who were never saved, they already believe they are the hero. The entitled, the fascist, the narcissist, the psychotic, the manipulator... these are evil.
@@Kayriel just as the capacity for evil exists within all, the capacity for good does. Someone who is true evil never realized that capacity, either through their own choice, being mentally unwell and never helped with their problems, or outside forces. People are born inclined towards evil and must be lead towards good, and many evil people can be redeemed. But actions such as helping the mentally ill are nearly impossible, as the world is ruled by greed and those who point fingers instead of recognizing their faults.
This is so fitting for Vanitas because you can hear the tragedy and pure sorrow that rings out underneath the melody- a constant reminder of the darkness that plagues him, a reminder that he's alone after being torn away from Ventus. Your heart breaks just listening to the constant cry of help.
Anyone who's suffered from a broken heart/isolation/PTSD for 4+ years day-in, day-out can relate; no doubt. I unwittingly cursed myself with a self-fulfilling prophecy I didn't even realize I had manifested for myself until reflecting retrospectively to 5 years ago
Thought is real, physical is the illusion. As ironic as it is, our eyes don't actually show us what is reality. What exists in your head will bleed into your life whether you want it to or not. You cannot hide from yourself, nor can you run from the truth; for what's happened has already happened. The watchers and the anunnaki have been observing us for several solar rotations of their planet, Nibiru, because of its elliptical orbit, that translates to roughly 7,200 years or longer since the calculated and measured length of its rotation around our sun by NASA has been proven to be 3,600 years. Which explains why deities have arisen in certain Greek, Roman, Egyptian or Nordic mythologies over the course of human existence. In the Mesopotamian days of Babylonia and Sumer, there were several different versions of what humans perceived to be there all knowing creator: Yah or Weh, which was later adopted by the judeo Christians as Yahweh. The reason why we have different versions of God as being benevolent or graceful or all loving, and sometimes we perceive him to be a wrathful jealous or vengeful God is because they were different gods living among us in the days of the Sumerians. They wrote down their experiences and their day-to-day lives and how they would hike towards their temples on their mountains to give offerings and worship them in person. We all know about the ancient images of clay tablets depicting astronauts satellites and rocket ships, no one wants to explain why they exist or why they're there because it would completely up and everything we know about human religion and history. Our records are actually off by about 2,000 years according to the book of Exodus when compared to the Sumerians story of creation in the Numa El'ish. It is in this book that you can find one of the first laws ever given to Man by Hammurabi: an eye for an eye. Anyone who thinks these traditions that we've upheld by societal standards for generations such as agriculture, government, militarized armies and medicine were human concepts then you are sadly mistaken. Just like in the assassin's Creed games, there was a race of hyperintelligent highly Advanced people who came to us and descended from the heavens and what we perceived as guilded chariots that levitated because we couldn't comprehend modern science as we know it today. We couldn't comprehend lift, thrust propulsion or hovercraft technology. We couldn't perceive these great notions and ideas that were taught to us because we were simply cave people descended from apes on the plains of Africa. The Annunaki and our creators indentured the Neanderthals as I'm working for us to mine our planet's minerals because it's true that our crust mantle was rich with gold and other rare minerals at one point in ancient times. That's why humans pursued the mythological city of El Dorado for centuries. They spliced our DNA in technologically advanced laboratories and they created the homo sapien by removing an evolutionary Gene that was supposed to grant us tails and because they played God and messed with life, that's why humankind has evolved to have so many defects that make it very difficult for our species to live on this planet because we are mutated from an alien race that we can't even contact now. I know what you are reading you will believe to be insanity or the ramblings of a madman, but these are not conspiracy theories these are proven archaeologic discoveries that have been hidden by our world leaders to prevent chaos and anarchy because aliens do in fact exist, we were manufactured, our only purpose as a species was to be indentured servants or minors or slaves, and we were to be wiped out in a great flooding of the entire planet which you can find evidence of occuring in every recorded religion. Ancient humans bore witness to a mass flooding that wiped out most of our species, but it was only because one of our creators, the snake God and key who has been labeled as a devil by modern religion, was actually the one deity who wanted us to survive because he had actually grown fond of our development and our potential. I'm not asking you to believe me, but what I say is true, why do you think an entire team of people continue to make assassin's Creed games based around these stories? It's not all myth there is a semblance of truth to all religions, but no one on earth has gotten it 100% correct. No one really knows what's going on, we all choose what we want to believe, thus is the beauty of human existence. We all create our own purpose in life. If you have any morality or any conscious, you will watch the movie arrival from 2016, heed its message, and strive to make the world a better place by uniting the nations of the world. Go in peace, one love. Send Good vibes and energy into The ether through meditation. That is the only way to ascend to 5D consciousness. Find your enlightenment.
@@SkitaTeachYou manga is not canon. Vanitas is theorized to be one of the pure, original darknesses. It lines up with his dialogue exchange between him, Ventus, and Sora, saying he IS darkness. Also, Union X showed Ventus was taken over by an original darkness. This song mostly plays on the fact that Vanitas knows all he was, and ever will be, is darkness.
"I can't stop. I have to keep doing my part. Maybe if I travel enough, I'll be able to right some wrongs. Maybe do something to prevent all of the bad I keep seeing."

I- I recommend Tales from the smp, the lost city of Mizu ( towards the very end) if you want any context, it introduced me to this song, it's so good. The emotional impact it has was just such a good way to compliment the scene.
@@xthegodzombie I can't get it and I've tried watching let's plays but it's just not really my cup of tea, idk I just felt like it wasn't going anywhere. It still seems like a great game though!!
@Artic_wolf oof-, I know from having tried and failed to understand it, how confusing it is and I respect everyone in the fandom who knows wtf is going on
Idk who is this Karl Jacobs everyone keep talking about, nor what he did, I just came here because I like KH and it got my attention. Just wanted to say that this is truly appreciated without any reference to someone else's quote
He used this song in a really important scene in his series “Tales From The SMP” on Twitch. This song is so lovely, and I’ve been looking at more Kingdom Hearts stuff because of this, i would love to play it
Its about karl jacobs who does roleplay in minecraft and his role is a time traveler If u want to watch it click this go to the person channel to find more of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-encwYOCPp2M.html and karl uses this after the story part when he goes to the "inbetween" and every time he travels he slowly loses memory but the "inbetween" always has a book that says "dont forget even your closest friends" or sum like that and after the "inbetween" he goes to this cave thing where he writes down the things that happened so he doesnt forget or somthing. The dream smp theres alot of people and alot of storylines. Each individual stories connect to each other and u get all the peices to understand why this happened. The eggpire is very smart coz one of karls story theres also an egg that has techno as sir billiam then in the dsmp the egg said in backwards "you looks familiar" "do i know you?" the egg goes into different story/timelines even out of the smp. Very smart of the script writter.
oh god, that phrase would suit Vanitas very well in a Game or story of his own. a Story where Vanitas is learning about light and friendship, where Vanitas learns to deal with his inner demons and where he is seen as "an Antihero". But... In the end, he must protect the people he loves and makes a difficult decision.
karl is a dsmp streamer, also a mrbeast member. he plays a time traveler who loses his memory everytime he travels. there is one tale left for him to uncover. In tale 5, he went to the lost city of mizu, and when he was finished writing down what happened, he played this song and wrote, "Don't forget who you are." hope this helped :)
Being so used to the normal version, and with the original carrying the idea of “light and happiness, with maybe a touch of melancholy,” turning it into this darker, more bitter kind of arrange... wow it’s super effective. Goes to show how just changing the key can convey something totally different. This hits my heart in a super particular way. edit : Next person to say they agree gets to agree with my nuts. Sora’s in smash bitches!!

I wouldn't say that this is evil. Dearly beloved is bittersweet. This one is just straight up depressing. Sounds like someone is drowning in despair. I love it.
Dude... this made me think of a potential title for such a game. Kingdom Hearts: Darkness It would feature an unlikely alliance between Vanitas and Riku & Terra. The three characters most closely tied to darkness. No idea what the plot would be, but how cool would that be?
@@rainestoehr431 maybe not the vanitas as part of a trio part, but a game about Terra and Riku adventuring together would be awesome. I’d prefer to see Vanitas as the antagonist of that game rather a trio member
@@Pokeplayerdenver1234 I think Vanitas has the potential to be a good character. Maybe not a hero, more of an anti-hero, or maybe even an anti-villain. I just think he needs a little help is all. A friend who accepts him as he is. And I think Ventus hopes the same for him.
True, I found it from being used in a series called "Tales from the smp" and let's just say my heart has been crushed and pain is the only thing I know- Okay, I'm exaggerating but it's still painful-
This is like game over music, While dearly beloved sounds like new beginnings with a building sense of hope, This conveys the opposite very melancholy a slight feeling of despair, loss, and the end of ones journey prematurely.

This song do not really sound evil, (this doesn't mean that this song isn't beatiful, at the contrary, it's fantastic) it sound like sad, dpressing, melancholic or something like that, it make feel does emotion or negative emotion in general
@@mirion3383 There are generally three kinds of evil and the difference is merely the intent behind the actions. There is evil for the sake of another, whether that be killing out of self defense, stealing to feed your kids or getting caught in shady business to help your dying wife. These are all evils done in the name of a good cause, it doesn't make the method right, but it has a good ultimate intent behind them. I would call this kind of evil... a mistake. Then there is evil for a reason that is ignoble. This is the second worst kind of evil. You kill someone not out of self defense because you hate them or they're "in the way". You steal to force someone's business out of business or to cause them strife. You do shady business to exact revenge. These actions are the same as the previous ones, but the intent changes their category. These actions are what I call acts of evil. Then there's the last category, doing evil for the sake and or fun of it. You kill because it's fun or because you don't value life at all. You steal because you can with no need for the items you stole. You get involved in shady business for n reason in particular. These people... they were either born past the moral line of no return, or they crossed it with their actions over time. These actions are PURE evil and the people who commit them are known as MONSTERS... this is what it means to be a monster. Some monsters are born, some are made, none can be cured, they're beyond the point of morality.
My grandpa is about to die. I love him so much, but I know that I have to let him go as his time comes. And this song is exactly what I feel right now deep inside my heart.
I wish we had some DLC for Kingdom Hearts 3 that would let us play Vanitas, as he basically decides (through some exposure to Sora and Ventus as well as his horrible treatment from Xehanort) that he'd rather take the X-Blade for himself. He suffered the most, he deserves it. He'd basically have boss battles against both the Organization 13 and the Warriors of Light, at the end facing Xehanort in what could be called an Evil vs Evil scenario. Maybe it could give Vanitas some characterisation that he always hated Xehanort, that he was abit jealous of Ventus and that Vanitas now cannot be anything but a monster because of what happened to him. Basically telling Xehanort his plans of remaking the world through Darkness are bullshit because he's just as dark, if not moreso than Vanitas, a figure of literal fucking darkness. At the end, Vanitas would hold the X-Blade, standing alone in the wasteland of Scada Et Caelum or the Keyblade Graveyard. No voices, nobody standing with him. Just the hollow wind roaring past his hair. After celebrating abit to himself, Vanitas would realize he has nothing except the X-Blade, giving him potentially untold power. And yet there's only one other thing he has to give himself: a question. "What now?" Roll credits, leaving it ambiguous if he would destroy the world, or if he'd want to live in it. I think it's best that way, giving Vanitas some sense of ambiguity that, if he had character development, would he still choose evil? Or would he get some sort of redemption arc and want to seek happiness? Or maybe some twisted form of both, as Xehanort raised him to be happy doing evil things?
Chirinthy: "Time. It allows us to grow and change and see what consequences our actions take. It allows us to look at what came before, and ponder about what might come after.... I mean we had like eleven plot threads to tie up and none of them got a very pretty resolution besides Sora and Kairi. But we knew that. We were hoping for that. For me the problem came in that I kinda wanted everybody to have a somewhat happy ending. I still kinda want the lingering emotional turmoil that xehanort brought to the BBS trio to get resolved. I really do. but it just won't happen that easily and with out the good writing behind it. I wanted vanitas to get some closer on who he was. we might get that later down the line as we learn what DARKNESS actually is but I was wanting him to come to terms with him and ventus. this makes me think of all the people that have disappeared without a trace. maybe people who are being missed right now, who people are looking for. but even moreso, the people who are invisible-who are dying or are lost and no one even knows, for whom no one even feels their absence. i imagine this song is what it would feel like to know moments before your end that that is your destiny-that no one is going to know what happened to you.

some minecraft man named karl jacobs who also is in the mr beast team did a thing in minecraft where he time traveled and he used this as the music when he writes down everything that happened in that other world so he doesn’t forget cause time traveling takes away his memory. And that is why, I WILL BURN THIS BROKEN WORLD TO THE GROUND”
This is probably one of my favorite musical pieces of all time. It has the hint of a melancholic, but peaceful darkness. Everything about this version of Dearly Beloved hits home for me. And, not in a bad way.
Decided to come back here after a little over half a year of my first dog’s passing. I played this for her before we went to the vet to send her on her way. I lost other pets before but nothing hit as hard as losing the dog I had for 13 years of my life. I still have periods where I just need to sit and feel sad, even though by now I have a new pup in my life who’s extremely loving and well behaved and is just a great dog I still sometimes find myself sad and depressed over losing the dog I raised up from the neighbors litter. I’m glad I was able to have one last moment with her and now this music hits way closer and what I played at one point for relaxing and soothing now just sounds like the epitome of depression and almost numbness. I tear up but I can’t quite cry anymore like there’s a stopper in the damn keeping it from breaking. It isn’t the sharp pain I remember from a while back when we lost her, but now it’s a dull constant, just like how the song has an ever present feeling of washing over you but never directly hitting you, just passing through as it plays on. Rest in peace good girl, knowing I will always love and miss you
Darkest isn't evil, so It would make sense that it sounds deep, sad, and depressing and not chaotic and distressing. Also vanitas just wants to be whole again with ven so he probably feels pain from being incomplete
Hello Tales of the SMP people, welcome to our pride and joy, the Kingdom Hearts series. We may have a little bit of a confusing storyline, but we can appreciate the music all the same. I just want to say that KarlJacobs, you're an absolute goat for choosing Kingdom Hearts as an inspiration. Here's to even more Tales!
I'm a fan of kingdom hearts since I was 6. Now I'm 18 and I'm also a fan of the dream smp. I like Karl's reference but y'all pls get to know kh it's such a beautiful saga it, do not reclaim this song as something related ONLY to dream smp
I know KH's whole thing is "kingdom Hearts is light" but honestly I would love it if they explored more of the darkness. We kinda got that with Fragmentary Passage but was honestly more of a demo than a full game, I would love a game were it really just delved into the darkness. Maybe a Vanitas game or something (He's such a great character and really deserves more attention). Or, probably too late for this now, but I would have killed for a RIku game where its just him battling the darkness in his heart, learning how to control it, and use it for himself.
Well, about that Riku thing you mentioned, that was already explored in his episode on Chain of Memories and his part in Dream Drop Distance, where he already accepted he has darkness in his heart, but still decided to go against it by neglecting Ansem's proposal one last time
I always felt that this version should be called "Till death do us part". Only since the the original is Dearly beloved, sounds a little like wedding vows so to oppose that till death do us part to fit the feeling of it. Really love the way this version sounds

karl’s music choice is INSANE. like that ending got me emotional and gave me chills BECAUSE of this song. He’s an amazing content creator and this song was just the cherry on top :)
No. Evil is born from the will, the will to harm in order to obtain for oneself. Pain and loss are born from evil. These create fear, and fear makes us susceptible to the will to harm in order to obtain for ourselves.
When I was watching Karl's stream I knew the song and just didn't get what song it was. Now I'm here and finally understand why it sounded so familiar.
I enjoy this song due to Kingdom Hearts being basically the only Disney-based thing I can truly enjoy, and because this particular version of the song reminds me of the true reason behind Venitas wanting to forge the X-Blade according to the manga. The deeper, slower tone fits him and his backstory so well and sounds sad with the reverse violin combo.
Most people are here from Tales of the SMP Anyone else here because Kingdom Hearts? Please tell me I’m not the only one here because of Kingdom Hearts. Edit: The replies range from "what is Minecraft" to "what is Kingdom Hearts" to DSMP hate and I think I saw one hating on KH. Lol.

i’ve had this conversation with a friend, while this being about vanitas. we talked about how this could play should you have to play as someone else to kill sora, indefinitely. this song would kind of fit that tragedy because of how much everyone has been through with sora. just imagining it alone would be kind if heartbreaking for this to play during a boss fight against sora and his own heart.

@@grendargaming1746 While I am not someone who devotes the majority of my time to the study of philosophy, I am certainly not ignorant in it. "Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil." John 3: 19 NET "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth by their unrighteousness, because what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them." Romans 1: 18-19 NET The point I am making (symbolically) is that when someone is unable to see anything good or joyous or hopeful, it is not because there is no light to see or because the light is hidden or far away or behind barriers. It is because they have chosen to look upon and chase after the darkness rather than the light. It is a matter of _will_ and _decision_ rather than inability or even difficulty. This is an ancient and thoroughly discussed perspective on the issue. Perhaps if you didn't pick up on that, you're the one weak in philosophical considerations or history.
The more I hear this the more it sounds similar to aqua, a slowly losing battle, while losing what you are fighting for in the proscess. Changing with the rest of what is happening around them
This almost sounds like a “calm before the storm” moment in one of the future KH games. It could be the song playing when you’re walking around one of the new worlds slowing discovering the secrets about the Master of Masters before the final confrontation/boss battle.

This doesn't sound evil. It sounds like if you were the hero trying to save the person you loved only to lose them in front of you. It sounds like the memories of them after their death. It sings sweetly with melancholy tones and painful notes, as if all the light in your life disappeared as you fell deeper into despair with no way out. If Dearly Beloved is a somber joyful tune made with hope and promises that echoed forever, this is the bitter resentment and sorrow of them leaving after they promised to stay with you. This is the reaction to hearing their cruel lie that screams in your soul while you mourn. If you made it this far, I commend you 💠❤️
Dearly Departed: Are we simply the dreams, aspirations, ideas, thoughts that we are. The ability to be so self aware yet oblivious to those around us. Are we simply destined for darkness, and if so, are we content with that path. The path to darkness. Such a traveled road, but I’ve learned to accept that which I once could not.
This song makes me feel how I imagine Vanitas feels all the time. Sad, alone, always reaching for the light only to have it turned away from you. This song is the perfect personification of Vanitas from the moment he was born out of the darkness.
Good theory, but Vanitas never reaches for light. He is one of the 13 original darknesses. He embodies who he is and chooses to be with darkness. This lines up with his dialogue between him, Sora, and Ventus in KH3. He IS darkness. The song mostly embodies the emotion that some never seek light, ever. And Vanitas is one of those beings. One to never see the light nor want to.
