His Holiness the Dalai Lama speaks to students from Denmark on how living a meaningful life leads to no regrets at the time of death during their meeting at his residence in Dharamsala, HP, India on April 2, 2018.
I’m Tibetan and Buddhist, but once as a child at age 6, I snuck to the front of the audience watching Dalai Lama speech past bodyguards on his holiness 80th Birthday and he smiled and laughed and said hi to me. I was also blessed to be kissed on the cheek as a child by the President Lobsang Sangay. God bless all of you.
"Death is something like a change of clothes. Clothes become dirty, old, then time comes to change" I will forever remember this, Thank you Dalai Lama, peace be upon you forever, I love you
As an atheist, it's rare that I find commonality with other views on death. But this is almost entirely how I try to look at it. Thank you sir for spreading such wise words. No dogma about what the correct view is. But instead regardless of your view, put emphasis on living the most compassionate life you can, so that no matter what happens after death, at least you can be at peace before it comes ❤️
Can I be honest with you? Its the greedy rulers who made religion seem like only way to salvation and declared thmselves as Gods. And when priests saw this as effective method to control brains, they followed it too for retaining power. We have an eternal soul inside which is forever existing. It just changes body and takes the next one. And the cost it has to bear for taking the next body is the deeds it did till now. If all the works it did are pious in nature, it will gain piousness. Thats doesn't mean serving in churches or temples. That means real ground work including serving in temples or churches. The thing is serving temple or church was made important in older times because those were a hub for knowledgable people, hungry beggers, the one wants compassion and the disciples. So you can serve them all. But slowly the humans got removed and luxury and statues remained. So to serve the nature is to serve the divinity.
I like the fact he doesn't say there is a God or there is no God. No human mind, no matter how elightened, can possibly know without a shadow of doubt if there is a God or not. I like Buddhism for its honesty in saying " don't know"
@@jankjason NDE still don't prove an existence of God or even afterlife may be cousinousness remain for some time after death but what happened after death no one knows even reincarnation is possible outcome.
@@jankjason their studies are not yet authenticated by wider science community . Serious scientist have not yet found out that counsiscousness is equivalent to soul or even a soul exist most of their claims are assertion and even baised the NDE of different nationalities ,relegion even races are different some see Christian after life ,some Buddhist and even HIndu Anand Islamic after life and many ND survivors also have experienced well nothingness . Even the sample that proof that cousinousness survive after death is very few and contradictions are more. Nevertheless we still have many things to find simply believing that their is a after life based only on an hypothesis yes afterlife is still a hypothesis not a proven fact we may never know what happens after death well at least till we die.
@@jankjason but one thing u will agree dude till our actual demise no one will know what happens after death. Actually I really want afterlife to be true even if that afterlife is hell the thought that I will loose cousinousness entirely was terrifying I think u feel the same way to an extent isn't it.
@@smoky3302 If energy can neither be created nor destroyed and we are made up of energy then we ourselves are recycled into different forms we may lose consciousness but such would only equivalate to a deep sleep
@@aden060 to a certain extent u are true but let me ask one question. If I make an identical clone of you with same memory and then said u should die will u accept it No. People identify themselves with consciousness the fear of death is not the loss of body but losing consciousness. U will not even accept a state of coma where body is still alive but consciousness is not active to a certain extent. I will be very happy if energy had consciousness I am very much ready to live like a soul .
I am from Indian. I have really got peace and my soul has become strong to listen Dalai Lama's words . Most of his words are so much important. I believe in Almighty Creator Allah and have so much love for great prophet Mohammad and than also I love Dalai Lama's words.
Thank you so much for this beautiful and satisfying speech on death. It's the truest reality that we all are our own creators there is no one who creates us
One of the truly impressive things about His Holiness is that he has the ability to read his audience and then communicate important ideas in a way that they can understand. When he speaks to Western/non-Buddhist people, he doesn't quote from the Heart Sutra or go into more esoteric concepts they might not be familiar with. He keeps it as simple and easy to understand as possible. That is what makes a great teacher.
Holiness, when I die as we all do,I only pray there is a guarantee as with your vow to remain among those who needs you the most.not power not money not anger not delusion but with your wisdom and compassion to liberate all sentient beings including the Chinese from suffering and Samsara
I love that His Holiness affords EVERYONE their own beliefs, without judgement, without obligating anyone to state of Hell. Like a lot of other religions do - they say, "if you don't believe this certain way, then you're not going anywhere nice!" I LOVE that the Dalai Lama, DOESN'T DO THIS! Thank you. ❤❤❤❤✌✌✌✌
We are all one being separated by what we humans call death. Transformation, growth, decay. When he said that it affects the next life to live a meaningful life he did not mean as a reward or anything like that that would require a judge. He is explaining that improving the quality of life for the next generation is meaningful and you will directly benefit from doing so because you will live those lives. As they say. A good deed is it's own reward. Or as Isaac Newton said. Every action has an equal but opposite reaction.
Very educative. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you.

prima di aiutare gli altri devi essere in chiaro con te stesso, altrimenti aiuti gli altri solo perché lo ha detto qualcun altro che tutti ritengono sia una persona importante ...
I think I learnt new because I heard it from very small age because I follow sanatana life so I able to follow some popular teachings of Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism and baudhism.
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones”- Marcus Aurelius As a Buddhist I have found equally eloquent arguments from the Stoics!
Our body experiences different phases from childhood, youth and old age before moving on to the next , it then gets attached to the world and fears death but what is wrapped in our flesh is the atma (soul) which is immortal.
Hello to you I love you and respect you greatly stayed with us as long as possible your face shines with humility of love and humorous thank you for existing sorry for my English it's not very good but love is universal
When we are standing in front of the mirror and one wants to put a garland , Jewellery in his mirror image , how it is possible . So , it is simply possible if someone put garland and jewellery in his own body . Similarly , our life is the reflection or the mirror reflection of our upcoming life . If we wants that we will get happiness , good life and money fame etc. In upcoming life . So one should needed to spread happiness among the other living beings . We have to daaan ( charity ) to get money and anything that we want in our life .
Gandalf The Grey 🧐🧐What Are you taking ?Tibet is China Now,they took them over and killt all Monks in the 50this!And the Dalai Lama immigrated to India!Thats way so many Jung Tibetian go to India!
The fear of death, actually, is the ratio of good and bad you have done with nature.....!! When you can't calculate what it will effect in your absence, you get fear..........!!!
