Fist of The North Star is arguably the prototype for almost all modern shonen series. Dragon Ball (specifically during Z), Jojo (at least in the first 3 arcs) and Berserk were all in some way influenced by North Star. And that influence is multiplied when u take into account how influential THOSE three series became.
@@rainofkhandaq6678 That's what i remembered too. Kenshiro fighting style and attitude was based off of Bruce Lee and partially Mad Max, and his outfit and design was from Mad Max. But his overall hair style and physical appearance was of Sylverster Stallone.
Fist of the North Star is that shonen made during the era where japanese people just wanted to see action movie characters but put into japanese and then late 80s shonen like JoJo and DB took that and made it have more substance in terms of storytelling (although the original Dragon Ball was more about a comedy series than an actual shonen) so yeah, it's kind of like an accidental prototype of modern shonen

Funny thing, when Kenshiro dropped that building on his head and walked through it, some guys were watching this happen and thought, "Yep this invincible god desert hobo is an excellent person to rob, let's attack him." Bad guys in Fist of the North Star are not smart people.

Kenshiro is such a badass even when he's being compassionate. Ryuken made Raoh(Ken's oldest brother) and Ken fight a Tiger and when Ken had his turn he just approached the tiger and raised his hand making the tiger stand down. When it was Raoh's turn, the tiger attacked him but got killed and beheaded by Raoh instantly. Raoh of course belittled Kenshiro by saying that he was so weak that the tiger didn't think of him as a threat and that's why it didn't attack him but Ryuken said that in fact, the tiger was so scared of Kenshiro that it refused to attack because it knew that Kenshiro would spare it's life in exchange. But as for Raoh, the tiger attacked because it panicked and knew it would die if it didn't at least try to fight back. Which is also why Ken got chosen to be the successor over Raoh. Only someone who knows the weight of taking a life can receive the power to take one away so easily.
Jojos is so good for content. The characters so unique. Would love to see some stands explained, or opening reactions maybe some theme reactions. Basically I’d just love to see more jojo content😅
This fight felt a bit unfair only because the version of jotaro they use is this weird amalgam that takes some of the worst parts of jotaro and some of the best parts where kenshiro is just at his best. For example, jotaro in parts 4 and onward would never let star platinum go so far away from him as to allow kenshiro that close because hes matured but part 3 jotaro would be naive enough to do so.
Fun fact: Ken has his heart stopped completely for several days on end and survives. Apparently, it's a secret techinque to RECOVER the body so the whole Jotaro timestop, grasp heart doesn't work on Ken.
fist of the north star is basically the granddaddy of all battle manga inspired most of the other mangas that followed it like dragon ball and jojo and the likes.
Fun fact: Mortal kombat fatalities inspired by Fist of the north star (kenshiros show) but it's also one of the highest grossing franchises in history.
Fist of the Northstar is a classic. Original anime (From which the video footage came) 1984-1988. 156 Episodes in 6 seasons.. (From which the video footage came) About a hero who isn't one, at least not from his point of view and never smiles, but still wants to do good in a world full of villains who all have a reason for what they do, and some can be redeemed even if they don't deserve it. Therein lies the humanity. Kenshiro understands his opponents, like his brother in spirit. "Son Goku" but he is doing this for fun and protect his friends. Kenshiro is smart and he can be heartless if he needs too, but his hate for the world never comsumes him, like his villians did.
The author for hokuto no ken, directly worked with miura(berserks author)in his early career and it’s not very known, but he led miura to go darker in story tones but use lighter art styles to bring more life to the world and characters. He’s also been credited by toryama the author for dragon ball for the inspiration of goku as well as sun wukong aka the monkey god of chinas mythos. But he’s a very interesting guy, and how he made the powers system for hokuto no ken is very cool. He came up with it while at an acupuncturist in china, he saw how pressure points could be assaulted/manipulated and had a deep interest in martial arts, so he made ken and based him off his two favorite people/characters, Bruce lee and mad max.
Normally I really hate when people comment with "oh you should watch this 800 episode show if you liked that 3 minute clip!" But for Fist of the North star, there is an animated movie from 1986 that summarized the whole show and hits all the best beats. It's gory as hell but takes the absurd concept of Bruce Lee using acupuncture kung fu in Mad Max world very seriously, and somehow makes you unironically care. Definitely would recommend it for anyone who wants the experience, just bring a barf bag, it gets gruesome.

I guess my words were bigger than I thought This was one of the most controversial videos Death Battle has made due to some misinformation that they haven't quite gotten these skills exactly yet it's quite complicated than you think, but it is one of my favorites just to have two of the most badass anime characters to ever exist to duke it out, although I am quite biased for Kenshiro, YOU WA SHOCK!
Death Battle seems to get a lot of things incorrect with the anime characters. It was still fun learning more about both of them and now we are more into Fist of the Northstar. At least, more curious about it 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 Please check it out, it's my dad's favorite so is it mine's. It's old but it's gold, and it even shaped the entire modern shonen anime with it's gimmicks and style. Even JOJO was inspired by this anime (atleast the first part) and also don't forget the funny moments it has. It's hard to come across some media of it now but I recommend looking at the game, Fist Of The North Star: Los Paradise, it was made by the same people who made the Yakuza series, so like it you should check out the compilation of secret techniques, I also recommend looking at the Japanese dub of it rather than the english one, but you are free to choose whichever you'd like.

That's only because DeathBattle is brain dead. Kenshiro would godstomp Jotaro. People talk about how Jotaro would stop time and crush Kenshiro's heart, but even if he had the strength to do so, Kenshiro has regenerated from having his heart destroyed before. Kenshiro was definitely FTL by the time he fought Souther,. By the time he fights Kaioh, he's MFTL+. Jotaro wouldn't even be able to react fast enough to stop time. Jagi tanked a nuke 2.5 Billion times more powerful than the one dropped on Hiroshima, and Kenshiro killed him like a mosquito early in the series. Kenshiro can make people explode from hundreds of meters away. People say Kenshiro can't harm Star Platinum, but Kenshiro can destroy spirits. Kenshiro can send people to the shadow realm with Anryu Tenha. Kenshiro can force people into a death match in a realm where the fighting spirit doesn't exist with Soryu Tenra. Kenshiro's aura cripple fighters, even those stronger than him who are completely fearless, with instinctual fear. Kenshiro once exchanged blows with Falco, and the sky cleared from horizon to horizon and the ground split from the shockwave.

Like people said, they got a ton of things wrong about both series, like Kenshiro doesn't need to be in Musou Tensei to use the techniques of others, every grandmaster learns a secret technique that seemingly connects with the spirits of their foes and through one single glance can instantly learn and master any martial arts style they come across, just by his adventures, Kenshiro knows and is a master of more than a 100 fighting styles he can use anytime, he just prefers to stick with Hokuto Shinken. Or the fact that Hokuto Shinken masters can absorb the fighting aura of their foes or even the energy of the world or nature itself, which by Death Battle's logic, means he could have absorbed Star Platinum, though he only used this in his first fight against Raoh, or at least the only time it's said out loud he uses this, as he and Raoh were around a bunch of fighters and absorbing the energy around him allowed Kenshiro to float in the sky and have a blue aura all around him...he basically looked like a blue man supercharged with Touki he was absorbing from around him and his own, a technique so damn useful...he only uses it once in the anime and manga even against foes whose fighting styles are all about using Touki and thus absorbing theirs would have made them become pathetic...guess Kenshiro just wanted to give them a chance to show off.
Useless Funfact: Yep, that was He-Man at the beginning ^^ To be certain the He-Man from the great and only first reboot that should exsists, back in 2002/2003 it has great animation and a whole new storyline to it.
Thanks for the reaction. To be fair, all Jotaro need to do was stop the time and let Star Platinum crush Kenshiro's heart. Durabilty was never a concern because Star Platinum can phase through an object, including human body.

Kenshiro's regeneration isn't that powerful and on a weaker side. It's not a crazy regeneration like, let's say Majin Buu who can regenerate from nothing. And again, durability doesn't mean anything if the opponent can just phase through your body and destroy your internal organs

One of my favorites just cause I’m a jojo fan, although I do think that jotaro should’ve won. One thinking death battle got wrong here is that kenshiro even if he could see star platinum wouldn’t be able to touch him at all. Non stand users can’t touch stands (except for a few specific situations). Also crushing his heart would’ve been a lot better planned

With Jotaro the biggest nerf was speed, but also how automatic Star Platinum is. Speed-wise Star Platinum, while holding back, was able to keep up with Silver Chariot wielding Anubis which would more than double Chariot's attack speed. Chariot itself is FTL, as his he performed a full swing of his sword while Hanged Man was still traveling and was visually barely moving, meaning that Chariot's swing even WITH armor was far faster than Hanged Man's movment. The problem was simply that Polnareff doesn't have the reaction speed that Chariot does and can't share senses as shown with Lovers (which also showed that Heirophant Green can't share senses with Kakyoin, maybe proving the ability is rare) and Ebony Devil. Star Platinum on the other hand can directly share his enhanced senses with Jotaro such as the fight against Sun. So SP is definitely several times faster than light, and Jotaro would definitely have that as his reaction time. He might be faster than Kenshiro, but it is hard to say. But Ken beats him in every other category including hax. So even if SP/Jotaro is faster, it's like a fly fighting against Godzillla.

When it comes to anime in general new or old, just watch one, it doesn't matter which one it is, just watch one episode, especially when it comes to, fist of the North Star, it's one of The inspirations behind, JoJo's bizarre Adventure, but I knew that Kenshiro was going to be the winner, of this contest, I totally forgot, about this death battle..
Jotaro would never freeze time when there were multiple copies of an opponent to check. They forget how much of a genius Jotaro is. He would freeze time and punch out Kenshiro's heart in a heartbeat.

Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventures and Fist of the North Star ... Oh my! Great animation, great fights and some very good twists, but it need a couple of dozend episodes to understand the epicness, and my time is to short lately to get into this. The only thing i don't like it has to many make fighters for my taste (Yeah i like dragonball :P But for childhood reasons) But it is definitely a right worth it.

Ah fist of the north star...one of my top 5 animes of all time. It's definitely one you should check out. It gets very brutal. Like Bethany perfectly mentioned about revenge stories...I love such. Adds the element of anticipation. Jojos bizarre adventure I'll have to get back into watching. Used to read the manga on books. Overall no doubt kenshiro wins this bout. Anyways I highly recommend the original anime movie, however it’s been highly edited because the original version of the film was sooo graphic that it had to be censored before being released to home video, unfortunately current editions of the 86 film have missing scenes or blurred animation frames, and a completely different ending that was made because parents and toei animation did not like the original ending. After that check out Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise it came out in 2018 and used the Yakuza gameplay to tell a condensed version of the main story of the series… There was also a very short lived but hilarious fan dub on here called Dub of the North Star…. This fight was a ridiculous mismatch. Kenshiro's Demon Aura would kill Jotaro the instant he got within a few hundred meters of him. His Demon Aura would smother Star Platinum. Jotaro would be completely paralyzed by the instinctual terror Kenshiro induces with his presence.
I am a die hard Jojo fan (honestly one of the greatest, if not the greatest anime of all time). That said, I can't deny the result. Because of his pressure point kill silliness the argument basically boils down to can Kenshiro get to Jotaro at least once, if so he wins and yes with everything he has it stands to reason throughout the course of a fight he'd certainly be able to tag Jojo at least once.
Yeah. Death Battle made this seem a lot closer than it actually would be, and they couldn't even stay consistent with their own argument. This should have been one of the worst mismatches ever. JoJo scaling and Fist of the North Star scaling just aren't in the same ballpark. It's like a cage match between a gray wolf and a dire wolf; they may look similar in size, but the dire wolf is more heavily built with a greater bite force. It just isn't fair.
@@JustSomeGuywithEpicGrasses they usually do with the battles because after all the battles are supposed to be entertainment and not an authentic depiction of how the fight would play out. They even acknowledge this usually in their wrap ups to a degree when explaining why they picked who won in their estimate. Though I wouldn't call this one a mismatch. Realistically Kenshiro could do nothing about Star Platinum and would lose if he couldn't get to Jotaro directly which given the time stop and platinum speed would certainly make it a challenge. In fact the actually downplayed Star Platinum as we learned in a later battle with new feats to consider Star Platinum is dramatically faster and stronger then their estimates here and would be more than capable of likely killing Kenshiro. Just at the end of the day kenshiro is capable of a lot of bonkers stuff too so you could never really make the argument he'd never be able to hit him ever and he only needs to get that one hit.

Kenshiro can replicate and counter abilities that manipulate space time after they're used on him once, even if the powerwas completely foreign to him and he didn't know anything about it. Kenshiro's aura can completely paralyze others, even if they're srtronger than him and completely fearless, with instinctual fear. Kenshiro has perfected Musou Tensei, which makes its user completely invulnerable to all attack, unless the opponent has Musou Tensei or made their own demonic aura technique designed specifically to counter Musou Tensei. Kemshiro can fights for two weeks straight without any sustenance or rest. Kenshiro can keep fighting while he's asleep. Kenshiro can keep fighting as a spirit avatar when he's medically dead. I was trying to put it politely, but it seems that's not enough. Jotaro gets godstomped.

hokuto shinken is one of the most fuck-busted fighting styles ever! it can make a person tell you the truth, make them inhale until they died, cure sickness, heal blindness, raise the dead and make you fall in love with the first person you see.

Jotaro may be tough and could potentially get some lucky wins against Kenshiro. But the biggest deciding factor is that Kenshiro only needs one touch on Jotaro and its done. That instantly gives him the highest percentage of battles won between the two
