If you haven't heard of sylosis, you should definitely check them out. They're absolutely amazing and not many people have heard of them for some reason.
I'm not even sure if Death is a band you can mosh too - I couldn't anyway. They were just too good at making melodic and beautiful sounding songs. It's a band you watch in awe rather than go crazy to.
+Brandon G I went to the ''Hommage à Death'' with some friends in 2007 in Quebec city! It was AWESOME! Everybody was in awe as you said! With ancient members of Death to Nicholas Barker etc!
I went to see Death to All in 2012. Even Without Chuck actually being there, it was the most spiritual moment of my life. There was a little moshing, but almost everybody was in awe. It is straight up the most moving and emotional experience I've ever had.
Look down at the body You may see no trace of wounds But in the eye The eye of the beholder One cannot assume. Not a drop of blood is drawn But you know how it bleeds Beware of the sharp edged weapon Called human being It is a shield of passion And strong will From this I am the victor Instead of the kill I will not feed your hunger, instead I bite the pain Looking not back, but forward I bite down hard Try to cover up the trail of deceit And daggers spawned from your soul Acid, the tears of remorse Flow in vain, too late for regrets Save it For the next ill fated game.
@@DeathZeroTolerance No it doesn't have a Christian vibe to it when it there is song called to forgive is to suffer, so you are a deluded fool! The album only has handful of christian metaphors to symbolize the passion of his life, then claiming them for him self, and if you go back in time far enough they are clearly not solely christian!
Death is the perfect harmony of melodic, brutal, and Technical. Combine that with introspective lyrics and tie it all together with technical perfection that is still accessible to the novice ear, you get the band Death, the greatest metal band of all time.
This is my favourite album of all time. A lot of Death fans would say that Symbolic is their best album but for me Sound of Perseverance is the greatest
You know, they're very different, for me are complementary in perfection. Symbolic it's very rational, it looks like classical music, The Sound is pure passion transformed into music, when you listen it entirely it becomes nearly obsessive.
This is actually my favorite song of Death, to me it sounds even more awesome than symbolic or pull the plug, so many different varieties blended in perfectly in one song. Honestly I haven't seen any other things as equally impressive
Same. Although all of this album is pure genius, this song in particular is other worldly. The intro, the solos, that little lick that repeats, the bass lines, the riffs, the drums, the lyrics, everything is perfect.
SO TRUE CHUCKS VOICE IS BEYOND EVERYTHING AND AFTER THAT TERES A BIG GAP TO AN ALSO GREAT VOICE TRAVIS RYAN / CATTLE DECAP BUT THE TRUE KING WAS / IS / AND WILL BE CHUCK SHITTY CAPSLOOK THE BEAR HAS RUINED MY KEYBOARD ;((((
Actually chuck followed the heard on multiple occasions. Early death followed possessed, then they followed stuff like suffocation, then atheist, then they started to follow some of the weird late 90s Melo death and prog metal.
DownFall NetWork, that is why Chuck never tried to lay claim on any of these titles, he had great respect for other bands and never made it a secret that was influenced by Queensryche and the likes. Fanboys just being fanboys, Death for Life!
Dude, Shannon's solo is amazing but Chuck sent it off the fucking park on this one... I feel like my existence is being torn apart by the massive hell his solo raises!
"look down at the body, you may see no trace if wound, but in the eye of the beholder one cannot assume" - as if he was reflecting to the cancer growing inside - although he wasn't diagnosed at this point, he might have already felt that something wasn't alright. It brings tears to my eyes like so many other Death songs. Chuck really held onto life with the last of his breath, he loved life to the bits and his untimely death makes me choke with tears.
Death is the perfect band for someone who’ve never listened to death metal. Death is the starting point, slamming brutal death metal, grindcore and other extreme subgenres are in the end of the tunnel.
I recently learned this song. I wanted to learn it because it sounded cool, but then i dive a little deeper as to what i thought the lyrics meant, and i can relate heavily with the message. Death means a lot to me.
Whenever I listen to Symbolic and Sound of Perseverance one after another, it feels as if Chuck intentionally made this album about the dangers awaiting a human throughout their life, both from their inside and outside world, and how to live with them, hence naming the album Sound of Perseverance. Even though the late albums share similar themes, this one has more emphasis on staying strong. Maybe he did it because he cared about his listeners.
This band was on a level of its own. DRUMS FUCKING KILL, GUITARS FUCKING KILL, BASSIST LAYS IT DOWN, VOCALS GET YOU GOING. Incredible musicianship, and even better songwriting. DEATH THANK YOU FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!
Totally agree. 2:39 in this song is my favorite moment on the whole album. This isn't my favorite overall song, but that's the most intense individual moment on the album.
Core and Slam makes breakdowns become so trivial.. It's when bands play dynamically with their tools, that each part is able to stand out. Death and Dying Fetus have such powerful breakdowns, because every song has multiple tempo changes and dosn't go mid-tempo chug-chug for 3-6 minutes (I know people tend to dislike the vocals of John Gallagher though). Also, Chuck's solo has balls! There's the classic, beautiful harmonic minor melodies, and the intense pull off's + vibrato over the breakdown.. it's so well written!
+Dale Reid in a sense that's a fate worse than death a living hell so he may as well be dead, with that being said without deaths sweat release some or maybe all people would be suffering forever
Chucks death is seriously a cliff hanger to what could have been if he was still alive. This to me sounds like the great musicians of long ago like Beethoven but with a guitar and vocals. Imagine the albums he would have made next.
Wow, you can really hear the pain in his voice. He was literally dying from pain from his tumor when he recorded this album. He dies 8 months later. R.I.P. Chuck, godfather of death metal.
***** I agree. Though, I still think Death defines the Death Metal genre with this album. Everyone thinks Death Metal is all about brutality (well not everyone, but you know what I mean) and all these other things; Death Metal is about writing the best extreme music. It's death or nothing. Just my opinion. And I think Chuck felt that way, too. RIP bro.
Love this song, album, and of course, band. It really annoys me when people overhear me listening to Death and they it "emo screamo". Just a little rant lol.
