I think that Magnetars are just as fascinating as black holes. That amount of magnetism is almost supernatural. I wonder what happens if one goes zooming through a galaxy. Hypergravity and hypermagnetism all in one tiny little ball.
It's not that a neutron stars gravity pulls you apart as you fall towards it, but your head falls faster than your feet which the only thing that can happen then is you rip apart. All your body above your feet is increasingly falling much faster, so where is your head gonna go if it falls faster than your shoulders? It goes bye bye. You literally fall apart, not get ripped apart by gravity. Your head falls so much faster than your shoulders that your body isn't strong enough to hold itself together. Even steel would be torn to shreds. Nothing can survive that.
