So happy I met Chuck before he died. During the "Spiritual Healing" tour, I met him, shook his hand, told him how fucking awesome he was. Got his signature on my "Spiritual Healing" CD. He was an incredibly humble, friendly, nice guy. Thanks, Chuck.
Alex x bg death metal has way more talent then thrash has 😂😂😂 90% of death metal is great, if not greater, thrash is a gateway genre to most long time metalheads anyways 😂😂
LYRICS: Built from blind faith Passed down from self-induced fantasy Turn a page to justify Conjuring power - it opens wide On your seventh day, is that how it's done? Twisting your eyes to perceive all that you want To assume from ignorance Inflicting wounds with your cross-turned dagger [Chorus:] Inside crystal mountain Evil takes its form Inside crystal mountain Commandments are reborn All the traps are set to confine All who get in the way of the divine In sight and in mind of the hypocrite A slave to the curse forever confined Shatter the myth Don't cut yourself On your words against dreams made of steel Stronger than any faith That inflicts pain and fear, is that how it's done? Twisting your eyes to perceive all that you want To assume from ignorance Inflicting wounds with your cross-turned dagger
Will there ever be a band as incredible as the death line up on symbolic...the most iconic lyrical content, drum playing, riff writing, solo playing, bass lines (aside from indvidual thought patterns) in the history of any music ive heard. death was truly a gift to the human race. ive been listening everyday and can play most of their songs and i still get chills EVERYTIME
This is the golden era of Death my friend, similar to the Rust In Peace Lineup of Megadeth. They were untouchable and ascended into LEGENDARY TIER!!! Sometimes you just come together and create something EPIC that can never be matched by anything that comes after hence why Chuck ended this Album with Perennial Quest an unquenchable thirst for perfection!!
Human and Individual Thoughts Patterns dude. Beginning from Human onward, every album was a metal masterpiece. Chuck was absolutely a poet, philosopher and a beautiful human being. December 13th is always a sad day for me.
Right there with you, I loved the big 4 , Testament, Exodus, and Maiden, and for some reason just kinda blew off Death, probably vocals turned me away at the time. Now though, I love it, a total pleasure to get caught up with this legendary band and now definitely one of my favorite.
I love Death with all my metal-heart! They must be one of the best bands that have ever existed! Schuldiner was really one of the best musicians of our time... I can't explain how sad i am to know that we lost such a great songwriter, performer and human being at such a young age. I would have loved to see him playing live... to bad that i was born way to late for that. Life goes on, and their music will be with me until i die! peace out!
I'm new in metal and for a few years i've been listening to new bands and death is just amazing... Now i understand why metalheads say the run in a league of their own... I love arch enemy but this is a masterpiece... Dunno how no one told me about metal when i was a kid... Feels like my childhood was wasted
I think this is one of, if not the first, death metal songs I've heard, and the first I've heard by Death, one of the greatest bands ever! R.I.P Chuck Shuldiner
***** "tourette's", "Very Ape", "Negative Creep", and "Territorial Pissings" were definitely grindcore. But majority of Nirvana songs were death metal.
had a friend show me this song over 15 years ago.. a year later I learned it on drums and guitar, jammed with a band. became a metal head ever since.. thanks Kevin wherever you are
I was always impressed by how well the clean guitars flirted with the distortion through the whole song and how creative the drum patterns they used are. a genius work.
lol Im 37 now and still will come back to Death, what an amazing band RIP chuck, you will always be a god, fucking amazing music, every album.Metal salutes Death no question.
Having such talent for music that transcends the vast VAST majority of musicians and contribution that much to music that you basicly lay most of the foundation for a whole new main genre in metal... damn im my eyes Chuck is immortal.
Man, Chuck was incredible. The first concert I ever went to was Death, maybe 25 years ago, along with a band called Devastation. It was right after Spiritual Healing came out, I was about 15 at the time. We managed to go because my older friend has gotten his driver's license and we drove up to West Palm Beach. I shook Chuck's hand after the show. Can't really say I "met" him, I was just standing in a group of people he greeted and shook hands with. The Spiritual Healing album was life changing for me at the time, as I was just learning the guitar then. I really should go back and listen to Death (and other music that inspired me early on) more often. Everything I've read about him since then proves what I thought at the time, that he was a super cool guy. I wish he was still around.
I love Chuck's voice on TSOP, it's like an angel screaming down from the heavens. That being said, Death predates Fear Factory by about four or five years and just barely edging out Dark Tranquility by a year (that is if you count the Septic Broiler demos).
I agree. It's my favorite Death album (Mind you I love every single one of them.) I'm wearing my Death shirt with this album art on it right now actually!
Im only 14 and i LOVE Metal.im the guy that says! LIFE u dont have background music? I listen to it every time . I know many bands but i cant believe how EPIC DEATH IS ! 95'?! u kiddin me?! thats way better than songs out now.MY REGARDS TO THE BAND
Death is chuck.. Like motorhead.. No lemmy.. Pantera no dime or Vinny... Static X Lol Not into death metal as a whole.. But I love death. A 13yr old teenager of the symbolic album.. Just when I started listening to all types if metal.. My favorite album.. Now 42. The title track makes alot more sense & so much more relatable
Technically, not even Chuck himself considered the band "death metal". In his own words: "I don’t think I should take the credits for this death metal stuff. I'm just a guy from a band, and I think Death is a metal band."
Apple Music used to have a little thing called “Death Metal Radio”. And that’s when I discovered Death and Cannibal Corpse. I was 9. Unfortunately Death Metal Radio isn’t there anymore. I am sad.
@Maria90578 Agreed. That part is a total eargasm. With that being said, the entire song is an eargasm all on it's own. And for that matter, EVERY Death song from Symbolic, Spiritual Healing, Human, and Individual Thought Patterns are AMAZING.
