The best lyrics, the most blood-chilling delivery, the most flamethrowing riffs - this is a metal masterclass in one song - as well as a message the world desperately needs to hear.
This whole album seems weirdly biblical (I put my my faith in Jesus, whatever) and it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. Because I really only listen to black metal but this is so good. "Spirit Crusher" actually saved me from suicide. I literally played it over and over all day. Time to be a man and fight.
@@noahjones9242I wonder of the reason for the biblical resemblance is because of Chuck being diagnosed with his tumor by the time of writing the songs
I must admit, by the time I first got into old school death metal back when I was in my late teens, I was more into Chuck’s lower gutturals, but I must admit his high notes r starting to grow on me. Though I have not successfully recorded myself doing his notes just like him, I have figured out how to reach that pitch, and when practicing death metal vocals I do blend in his highs and lows together. And I mean yeah I do pig squeal, some ppl might make fun of me for being more into modern death metal than I realize, but imo the rest of my vocals does flood ppl with a very pro 80’s death metal vibe anyways. I rlly did find out how to use Chuck’s vocal style as my base for whenever I am doing pig squeals. So I rlly did figure out how to blend old school death metal and modern death metal together. Also Glen Benton did do pig squeals in a way back when his band was still playing old school/90’s death metal. Glen Benton had a habit of compressing his growls back then, which is the general concept behind pig squeal. Nearly every death metal vocalist has the desire to compress growls and screams to make them sound heavier than they already do without the compression, and that’s why pig squeal was invented to begin with.
