Loved how even the Death Guard Who where picked out supposed to be “loyal” to Motarian almost half of them stayed loyal to the Imperium and began fighting back against the traitors
Their genes are those of determination and obstinacy. They are the most rebellious group. Yet also some of the most loyal (to the lord the individual chooses)
Yes-yes-yes! I was just about to start painting my Death Guard - and can't wait for my favourite 30K youtuber to give his opinion on them! Thanks! P.S. TOC's first 30K army! D'aaaawh.
Great video Macca, they are really a fun scheme to paint and I agree less is more when it comes to weathering and sponging. For bases I think they look great on darker coloured bases to contrast the off white. And your army selection is definitely still a great start even today
I have been playing Death Guard since 2nd edition, and always loved them., so I'm really interested in doing a Death Guard 30k. I'm very tempted in doing some with the Nurgle forgeworld parts (invasion of Terra timeline).
I'd like to suggest. *Put a power scythe on a Jet Bike leader. Since it hits everything at base contact. *Keep the Sisters of Silence from the BoP box set. You'll need them if you're going to fight Psykers. Since they hated spykers anyway. *And Destroyer Squads. Lots of Str 6/radphage rockets to ruin someone else day.
Hi Macca, bit of an off-topic question, but with the new tweaked rules, how do you feel about Combi-Grenade Launchers and Combi-Volkites, now that those 2 can be fired more than once? The normal 3 combis are still One Use Only.
I hadn't noticed that! I am gonna see if there are some workable combos involving the combi-frag grenades and either Morty or the newer ROW to make them poisonous or S5
Hey Macca, out of curiosity, once you're done with this series will you ever consider thinking about doing a "how to paint" series for whatever you like?
Been looking at Death Guard for a bit now, just about to take the plunge on some FW Resin (my first). Been looking more at the "Mark III Legion Starter Collection" think that is worth it?
Well, it depends on the legion, but combi-flamers, power scythes, grenade harnesses are all useful if you're keeping the Death Guard. Heavy flamers with chem upgrades for example can be brutal, and the combi-flamers make overwatching insanely strong if someone is dumb enough to charge you.
Yep. 40k Land raider, rhino, predator (no lascannon turret), dreadnaught and even the bikes (I think) all existed in 30k. They were just newer marks of the vehicles, and seeing as the forces of horus had more of the new toys it would make sense to use them. I do XD
I previewed them on FB, it's coming in another day and a half, it's already uploaded and you can see it in the playlist for Entering 30k... just it's private haha
In the first screen shot of the three Death Guard marines, their armor is in poor, unkempt shape. This would not be. The men would move heaven and earth to keep their armor in the best shape possible.
the legion was stoic and uncaring for filligree, decoration or aesthetics for the sake of aesthetics alone. marks of filth, burning, scratches and dents were true marks of honor and service, gained and received through the agonizing, attritional warfare that the Death Guard specialized and thrived upon. the only symbol of true note to Mortarion himself was the skull and sun, which represented Death as his constant companion upon Barbarus, and the sun which respresented the freedom he had won for his people and planet by killing Necare, his former charnel overlord and foster-father. Barbarus was their crucible and source of inspiration, much to the chagrin and detriment of the Terran contingent within the 14th.
Hey man, so I just figured out how to direct a 30k Film, an impossible task by any other way as one would be left with a very cheap or very expensive piece of shit. And dont say Paul Verhoeven or District 9 wanker. Think about it: Quentin Tarantino. If a good enough treatment can be hunter-seekered to find Tarantino before 2025 aged Tarantino..then there is a chance.
