Saludos!!!.

Hi, Jordan the Lion. Your video about Lupe Velez is the first video of yours I've had the pleasure of watching. You did a good job researching your subject and I compliment you on your thoroughness. It always irritates me a bit when people don't have the facts correct on their subject. I'm, personally, addicted to Hollywood history, especially the history during the "early years" of the movie industry. If you don't mind, I'd like to add an interesting fact about Lupe Velez. During Hollywood-Land's silent era (starting around 1910 or so), the so-called 'top brass' of each studio was extremely diligent about maintaining the public images of their actors and actresses, much, much more so than today. This proved to be somewhat difficult to do with Lupe and her own background and, eventually required some creativity. The only reason I even know this is because my great grandmother, Angelita who was born in 1909, and lived in San Luis Potosi in Mexico, the same village as Lupe and they were both around the same age. My great-grandmother, Angelita, told our family that Lupe was born out of wed-lock and that her biological father already had a wife and family when she was conceived. Anyway, my great grandmother, Angelita's, own mother or my great, great grandmother (and who's name I don't remember) was friendly with Lupe's mother and they would sometimes talk. She said that the reason Lupe was sent to Texas to live with the nuns at the age of 13 were for the purely opportunistic reasons of her part time prostitute mother. Lupe's mother, who didn't marry any of her children's fathers, understood all too well that, because of her own life style and the way she occasionally made money to make ends meet and, more importantly, because of Lupe's illegitimate birth, knew that her daughter would never be accepted by the upper crust of Mexican society. Keep in mind these were the years between (approximation) 1919 to 1925, the same year that Lupe turned seventeen. The Mexican Revolution was pretty much over and the country was desperately trying to recover from it socially, politically, financially, etc. During this time, Lupe's mother could see that her eldest daughter had blossomed into a very lovely young girl. Gone was the "child" who'd always helped care for her younger siblings while her mother went out to "work". Her mother realized the financial potential of having such a beautiful daughter. Terrified at the thought of Lupe getting pregnant by some village boy whose family was just as poor as their own, she immediately sent Lupe to the convent. I know a lot of the "lesser known" history about Lupe only because of what my great grandmother, Angelita, had told our family and because of what Angelita's own mother, my great great grandmother, had told her. There were a couple of scandals, too, but I don't want to take up too much of anyone's time. Thank you, Jordan and I look forward to watching more of your videos. Take care.

If she was such a devout Catholic why would she commit suicide⁉️That's a major sin.She would fight with her husband at the time,Johnny Weismuller. He would show up for work on the Tarzan set with deep scratches and bruises all over his body.A mexican spitfire yes,but all this talk about being a devout Catholic was nonsense. The lifestyle she led was not conducive to a pious woman. She had a scandalous reputation and didn't care who knew it.

She is actually buried in Mexico City in panteon civil de Dolores. I saw in another documentary that she her 2nd love after Gary Cooper was Arturo de Cordova. He was married and Arturo's wife wouldnt grant him the divorce to marry Lupe. Rumor has it that the baby was either Gary's or even Arturo's. We will never know. She couldnt be with Gary because he was such a momma's boy. His mother despised Lupe and she ended up leaving him. I dont blame her haha. No way would I compare Sofia Vergara to Lupe Velez.

Lupe Velez was gorgeous and she was very confident and comfortable with her sexuality. Why does she have to be known for sleeping around and it sound bad? Still a double standard that the men that also, slept around with numerous actresses were not branded as loose or scandalized? I, love the 1940 and 1950's era, but I am glad that women have come a long way with out sexuality and independence.

Thank you for not stooping to the level of reporting the false rumor that Lupe drowned in the toilet. It's one of those scandalous stories reported as fact in HOLLYWOOD BABYLON back in the day. I hadn't heard the bipolar story, though. Another great job, guy...

Sad story. She was very beautiful. Amazing that her house still exists, if it´s not destroyed lately of course. I can´t understand why they destroy all the beautiful old houses of the great stars from the real Hollywood. Pickfair, Falcon Lair and Errol Flynns house and much more. The real Hollywood doesn´t exist anylonger.

Another great vlog on a Mexican born legend. Thanks for sharing this Hollywood history that I was unaware of. It’s a sad state of affairs that the unborn child had to pay the price as well with her suicide. It just shows what the price of fame is sometimes if you allow your turbulent past to haunt you or fail to reach out to a real friend or professional help. Thanks Jordan for the touching stories you put together for our own soul searching moments and lessons in life. ❤️🙏🏻✨

Look at that amazing hair !!! You've still got amazing hair! Wow, this is one I didn't know about. How very, very sad. To feel that you have no other options, or friends that cared enough to step in and get her out of there and maybe to another country or something where she could see things differently. Times were so much different then. Suicide is a huge no-no too. I wonder how she thought that would even be ok??? So sad. It's really amazing how much you know about Hollywood and actor's lives. You are a wealth of information! You are like a walking, breathing encyclopedia of Hollywood. I am always amazed. As you can see, I am still happily playing catch up on your videos. I am so happy for you becoming a homeowner ! What an exciting time for you and Jah ! I'm sorry you had to leave California to be able to afford to do that, but it was probably time. You are always right. I have no doubt you miss it. Hopefully you can still do more amazing stories and figure out a way to keep teaching us all you know and learn about our national treasures. I am really rooting for you Jordan and you and Jah have a leaf on our prayer tree! It is a poster of a tree in our house, where we add leaves for all the people we pray for(animals are-ofcourse-included). May God bless you Jordan. You are "GOOD PEOPLE" I saw you were on live chat, but it said it was private and I couldn't get on to say hi and wish you well. Do you have a p.o. box where fans can send housewarming gifts or registries @ any stores anywhere online? I would love to get you something for your new place! Maybe a Home Depot gift card for plants or wtvr you need? Please let us all know. I know I'm not the only one who wants to do that for you. You are such a special being. You are pure light! I feel like you are my younger brother and/or son(as I am 52- you could be one of my kids!) My daughter has been traveling. Going back to Bristol, England in a couple months.ngreat place for an artist(she is) Take good care of yourself and Jah. I know you will. But know we are keeping you in our family prayers and have a leaf on our prayer tree. We love your vligs! I've even got my hubs watching them! :0

This story was a little disturbing to me. she not only took her own life.. she took two. why not do that after the baby is born if she didn't want to live with the shame of having a baby out of wedlock? at least give him or her a chance in life. I felt it was selfish to do what she did. great vlog as always Jordan and Jah xx

Devout Catholic, Loretta Young went to her grave in 2000 with a secret. In 1935, the actress starred in "Call of the Wild" with Clark Gable, then married to his second wife Maria Langham. After the film wrapped, Young discovered she was pregnant and went to great lengths to cover it up. Hidden in a Venice Beach apt. she gave birth to a daughter, breaking the news to Gable in a telegram that read: 'BEAUTIFUL, BLUE-EYED, BLOND BABY GIRL BORN, 8:15 THIS MORNING'. Gable, who was not named on the little girl's birth certificate, ignored the missive and never had any involvement in Judy's life. Young, however, was making plans to bring her daughter into the fold and arranged to 'adopt' the child even giving an interview on the subject to a sympathetic newspaper.

Why would she blame Harold Raymond in her note, if the father was someone else? That logically makes no sense. Even if she was trying to protect another person reputation, she could have just kept quiet in the note. I don’t tend to believe or I should say, I don’t give much validity to secrets. Like that person claims both of the parties said something, that no way to confirm the story. That’s how you get destroyed reputations. It sounds to me that Harold initially asked her to get an abortion and being catholic couldn’t do that. That’s probably why he said he’d marry her to give the baby a name. The way the note was written, that’s how I’d read it. If you have the ability to test the baby’s DNA against Gary Cooper’s ancestors. Then you’d know for sure, but without some legal reason, it’s not possible. Also being catholic, she probably had a strong catholic family and they could have given her a hard time, causing her to spiral out of control and she decided to end it. That happens still today, but not as much as it would have in the 1940s. Lupe Vélez would have to be very vindictive to blame Harold for her demise or just plain cruel person and I don’t think that’s the case.

Kind of weird, she killed herself. She could have had an abortion or go into hiding and give up baby for adoption or adopt her own baby which Loretta Young did. Gary Cooper really did sleep around a lot after he was married. Sad ending for a successful actress.

Hollywood studio's, particularly MGM, had their stars under control. Clark Gable, ran over a pedestrian and killed the person. That was covered up to a point and the family never got compensated for the death of their loved one. Hollywood covered up a lot of murder's among themselves. No bad publicity had to spill out of the MGM studios. As for Lupe, sad that she had all these affairs and killed herself with Gary Cooper's kid. It might have been a boy! Jordan, you did an excellent job and research on Lupe, and so many other's. I've seen more of Hollywood, Ca., then when I was there back in the 70's.

Great vlog...She was very talented and had great sense of humor plus hot looks. Seems to me its the classic Hollywood tragedy, woman sleeping around, maybe hoping to further her career and when she got jammed up she had no one to turn to, good time girl that no one wanted to deal with, maybe her anger issues, booze, drugs, mental problems....tragedy.

She was quite the promiscuous woman. There are stories out there of her servicing 3-4 men at a time. A source close to her at the time said she loved sex and loved it rough. Dirty dirty....no #metoo here!

Great job with this I really love your videos you do what I wish I would’ve done when I lived in LA but we didn’t have cell phones back then ha ha. I don’t know if you’re still doing these but now it’s Scotty Bowers Hollywood there’s a lot more fun stories to tell

Yes the Actor Jorge Negrete was the director of the Sindicate of Actors of Mexico and he arranged a beautiful view for Lupe. So sad. Such great talent.

Lupe was such a cutie pie - she was looking for somebody to actually love and care for her but she was always attracted to narcissistic hounds who were just chasing tail - really sad .

@@DazewithJordantheLion no no. I completely understand. I was just saying I missed these videos. I hopefully didn’t come across as a jerk. My brother lives in Marina del Rey. I live in Virginia. I only visited in him in 2017. Nice places but a ton of homeless. Your videos were like a fantastic walk through LA without showing the trash parts. Just the Hollywood history parts. Especially the Shelly Winters ones. Keep posting your videos. No matter what you post and where you walk us through, it’s great! Love them! Scott’s of deeply too 👍.
