I absolutely 100% hear Gojira during "Flattening of Emotions." Holy shit. These guys weren't just pioneers, they were totally ahead of their time.

This album really helped me through a hard time in my life. Metal is like medicine sometimes.

Chuck singlehandedly elevated death metal from "passing novelty" to "high art."

I'm 47 years old and this remains one of my favourite records of all time.

Pay attention kids. No pig squeals, no drop-Z tuning. Yet heavy as fuck.

I always loved how Death doesn't have one album which stands, head and shoulders, above the rest. You can pretty much say you love any one of them the best and most of us fans would be like, "cool".

Still kicks 99% of today release asses! Nothing compare when contextualized, and even today nothing come even remotely closed to this album. Chuck was a genius.

I was only 6 years old when I heard this album. Which was about 2003. I was going through my older brother’s CD collection when he wasn’t home and this was the first album I picked up. Put it in the CD player, and I was blown away. I remember it clearly. I was a fan of Death and Metal pretty much my whole life. 23 years old now, and still going strong with my love for Death!! I’m extremely jealous of the people who got to see Death live back in the day. You are all truly lucky and must’ve been kick ass. Sad that I will never get to attend a Death concert. Lack of comprehension, Suicide Machine, Secret Face, Flattening of emotions... What a great album Human is.

I've always been a thrash metal kind of guy. I've recently submerged myself into Death and now I have a whole new appreciation for death metal. I had a pretty bad stereotype in my brain about death metal and Chuck really fixed that! Stay metal dudes.

this band used to stand out of the crowd of the death metal scene. Lyrics are mature about human psychology, music is so marvelous, the brutal voice of Chuck expressed pain, melodies are mind tripping, each one band member was so ridiculously talented.

Reinert was 20 years old when he recorded this monumental colossus. Everything changed right after. Say what you want, but for me, this is the best extreme metal drum-work of all times.

That drum Intro at Flattering of Emotions is one of the greatest drum intros i ve ever heard

This Album started the all technical battle!!! Even Gene Hoglan said it was only after hearing this album he started to incorporate his jazz influences and technics in Metal drumming.... Human is a legendary album Sad that a lot of new very gifted kids dont know this band.

Ok, I think i have a problem with this album, i like it too much!! Since it's release, i abused of at least 2 cassettes and 3 cds, they all died of exhaustion. 30 years later, i still listen to it AT LEAST once a week, it's like i'm possessed by it! I'm sure if i have childrens, their first words will be "Human"!

I'm in a Death discography marathon and so far this is their best album EASILY, this is beyond great

Human was the first death album I heard when I was fourteen. It blew me away! I was barely getting into heavy music then and once I found Death, I never was the same!

Probably my 20th time listening to this album... never noticed how much "See Through Dreams" slams at 23:34 or how bodacious that solo right before it is. That's the real sign of a classic. Every time you spin it there's new appreciation for parts you missed the first couple of dozens of spins through.

Flattening of Emotions? Hah! More like Flattening Your Fucking Skull. What a masterpiece of a song to start this violent rollercoaster into the bowels of metal...and what a legacy Chuck and Death left for us. Blessed to have lived during his time and enjoy a band that evolved into a technical monster that is overshadowed by none other than themselves. Now, please, press your heads against your speakers, start FoE, and let it be the last and only song you ever need to hear...right up until your eardrums rupture. \m/ ôô \m/

I just want to point out that this is probably about the best death metal lead guitar you will ever hear anywhere. The technicality. The phrasing. The feeling. Chuck was a visionary and virtuoso. You don't hear guitar solos like that anymore, if you hear them at all... The rhythm section's brilliance speaks for itself as well here.

My favorite death metal album of all time. I still remember my jaw dropping the first time I heard it. Everything is amazing, the riffs, the arrangements, the bass, etc... but what caught my attention most was the incredible drumming. RIP Chuck and Sean.

Though I've never met Chuck personally, I do miss him so much!... Imo, he was also the most influencial person and human being in extreme metal, redefining and shaping death metal, album after album and creating not just music, but new forms of art. RIP Metal Brother!

Never heard the remastered version before. I've got an original CD pressing and it sounds a lot flatter in comparison. This is one of the rare cases where I think a remastered album sounds better than the original.
