I like how your reviews go so far as to put the book in it's historical context. I'm such an Agatha geek, so I'm loving this whole series of yours.

Yay for fellow Agatha geeks!! It's so fun to find other people who care about this stuff as much as me :)

I love your makeup so much in this video. I just finished Death in the Clouds. It was a mid-tier Poirot for me. I guessed who did it quickly but didn't know why. I did like Poirot telling Japp he had to suspect everyone including Poirot and that Poirot couldn't get a pass just because of who he was. I am also trying to read the Poirots in order. Such a fun project!

Yeah, I figured it out extremely early, but it was more about figuring out how and what the motive was for me. I thought it had too many working parts and the killer just happened to be extremely lucky because too many things could have gone wrong in their plan.

@banannakis6723 very true. The killer had amazing luck.

@@janenightreadsandwrites223 Too many things worked in their favor. That was just a little too hard to believe and suspend disbelief. The mystery wasn't the strongest in this one. But thankfully I enjoyed other parts of the book. For example, the part where Poirot is giving Norman grief for his pretend blackmailer's choice of facial hair to gather clues. That was entertaining.

I have never read this book. The Suchet adaptation seemed tedious and reused several familiar AC tropes as you pointed out, so there's been no motivation to read it or rewatch the TV episode.

I've enjoyed the book, my favorite part is how she handles the cast of characters and the different points of view of all the characters. However, I do find the murder to be a bit contrived and has too many working parts.

Do you do the David Suchet adaptations or just the books 📚🤔

I find it odd how she kinda re-uses tricks from other books here. I liked her use of multiple narrators too. Also fun to contrast the author in this with her portrayal of mystery authors in other books 14:20 christie re-uses character archetypes so much that it feels like the same characters are popping up sometimes

I thought there was no spoilers but you said who died, I really like your channel and your Agatha videos so not trying to hate but I was thinking of reading this book and I had to stop watching before more was revealed.

Not hate at all! Thank you for the constructive feedback. I'll go ahead & change the tagging on this one -- in my early reviews, I don't think I did a good enough job being really clear by what I was/wasn't going to talk about. As a general gloss, in these you can expect a Project Poirot review to include: a synopsis that goes up around to where they find a body (unless it happens late enough in the book that I would consider revealing the victim to be diminishing the enjoyment of the book), a rundown of the characters + details about them, and thematic discussion. In a book like this one, where the body is found almost immediately, I don't consider the body's identity to be a spoiler, especially since the back of the book often will disclose who the victim is. That said, if you do consider that to be a spoiler, I would say watch this series at your own peril. Hope that helps! And again, thanks for the feedback-- I've tried to go back and watch all of these older reviews, but sometimes I miss things :)

Maybe I have to try this one again but I thought this was one of her weakest books.
