This is the Japanese translated version of the song "They're Only Human" made for the 2015 Japanese production. I do not own Death Note the Musical or anything to do with it. Music: Frank Wildhorn Lyrics: Jack Murphy and Ivan Menchell
Thanks for the translations! I wanted to listen to the Japanese version for quite some time and never managed to find translation so I can understand the words. You’re awesome!
I like the Japanese lyrics better (after listening to both versions quite some time). I feel that Rem is pitying the humans and that Ryuk is just bored out of his mind and wants something to do. In the English version I don't really get that. Acting may play a part in that too of course. Just a different way of portraying the roles. Also the ending of this version: how about this? Makes sense, but the English version is saying something like 'let's call'. I don't get that. Both have great lyrics though. Just my opinion. Thanks for the lyrics video, makes it easier to pick up some words in my vocab.
To me, after listening to the English version many times, it sounds like ryuk genuinely doesn’t care about humans at all. He likens them to ants and that’s exactly what humanity is to him. But rem has a curiosity and interest starting especially around humans feeling love but ryuk doesn’t care for such things, he just wants to see chaos. Their opening lines describe them perfectly “look at how they crawl around, across the ground like little ants” “yes but how they fascinate”. This musical just made me love the anime and manga even more!
Right, that could be it! I always found it a bit strange because they aren't really 'calling' like grim reapers. They are just going down to look and in Ryuks case, have some fun.
WHat? I'm aLIVE? Yeah. Sorry. I made this, then decided to wait until my next milestone, then gave up so here we are. More to come??? Not often but I'll start back up. Maybe twice a month.
So happy you've come back! Who would interest in Death Note musical without you?! Thanks for this beautiful song! Rem's and Ryuk's voices are wonderful in this duet and besides... Their lines fit so well the characters, don't you think? There is Rem's fascination for mankind, and maybe also a bit of pity for them, whereas Ryuk is full of scorn and amusement for the futility of men's life. So well done!

If it's not too much trouble I was wondering if you could do Inochi No Kachi. (I think that is what its called) I just love that song and it would mean a lot.
Uff no I prefer the english version of the musical. I mean it was written in English and I do think it shows, the lyrics and music just doesn't fit together well. A shame.
