I believe president Nixon loved this country and I loved president Nixon not just for his service but because he needed to be loved by someone. Forever in our hearts Mr President
It was an honor to have met President Nixon many times. It was an honor to be a volunteer at his library. It was an honor to be at his funeral 25 years ago. It was an honor to be at his library today 25 years later. God bless Richard M. Nixon.
My grandfather once told me that he met Richard Nixon, during a campaign and after it was over Mr.Nixon talked with him for a few minutes. He also told me that he was a gem of a person, and if he’d not resigned then he could have done more
In many ways Nixon was the most crucial president of the post WWII era during the Cold War years. His mastery of foreign policy was much needed in a time when the Cold War was very close to becoming hot. Many people credit Reagan with ending the Cold War but it was Nixon paving the way with detente that cooled relations between the US and USSR enough that things wouldn't spiral out of control. I've always said that the perfect 20th century president would have the domestic policy of LBJ and the long range foreign policy acumen of Nixon. Both men were deeply flawed as their personalities and frailties brought down both of their presidencies but without them the United States wouldn't have come out of the mid '70s as well as it did. I also just discovered the Nixon Foundation podcast and am enjoying listening to it and learning more about this remarkable and important man.
Despite living to the age of 81, I will always feel that his demise was untimely. He had so much more to do and accomplish. He was scheduled to appear on 'Larry King Live' the evening of his stroke.
When most teenagers had movie stars, rock stars and sports figures as role models I had President Nixon and still do unto this day. I wished I could have actually met him.
@@andyheller2691 The first time was 1982. I was thrilled. I worked as a docent at his library and he was always thoughtful and considerate . It was devastating when I heard he was gone. 25 years ago and it seems like yesterday.
My platoon Sergeant was a crew chief of the President's, Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan. He stated President Nixon was the best man he ever worked for and President.
I wase born in 1980 so i know veary little of that man. But from everything i rechirch on him he had to have been a great man. Wish that we still had him to straighten this mess of the contry we call home out.Godbless Richard Nixon
Even as a 23 year old Australian (he was before my time, I know), minus Watergate, I regard Richard Milhous Nixon as one of the greatest Presidents to have ever lived. He would be my second favourite worldwide politician of all time behind Senator Barry Goldwater. Still makes me cry every time when Bob Dole cries.
It was very surprising to see Senator Dole break down. He was far more kind hearted than many people realized. You Tube Senator Dole saluting President Bush following the president's passing. A very emotional moment.
I saw that, very emotional and heart breaking. Definitely one of the decent Politicians left in America. A true war hero after being machine gunned in the mountains of Italy left for dead and managed to not only just survive, but become one of the greatest Republicans in history. Great man Bob Dole is. It'll be a sad day in America when he finally passes away and when he does, Congress should put aside politics and agree to let him Lay in State, he deserves it for everything he's done for America, if any US Senator deserves that honour to Lay in State, it is Senator Bob Dole of Kansas.
You are absolutely correct about Senator Dole. He'll be 96 this year. A great, great individual. I had the honor of meeting him in 1986. A memory I will always treasure.
Probably the most compelling & controversial politician in US history. Alger Hiss, Watergate and Frost-Nixon are all iconic milestones in the life of our 37th President.
LOL, Jimmy Carter blows Nixon out of the water as far as being the greatest 'elder statesman' after having been president. Also, humanitarian. Nixon was a mob boss criminal and resided over a crew of criminal underlings.
@@Chebornek Jimmy Carter? The Iran hostage crisis, stagflation, oil crisis? Jimmy Carter may have been a good guy but he was incompetent as President which lead to a landslide victory for Reagan because Americans didn’t like Carter.
It was 30 yrs. ago today, April 27, 1994 (Wed.) that late ex-U.S. Pres. Richard Nixon's state funeral was held in Yorba Linda, Calif. as his remains were laid to rest. He died 5 days prior (April 22, 1994-Fri.) in N.Y. City, N.Y. after s'ffrng massive stroke at his r'sdncy in Park Ridge, N.J. just few days prior in his early-80s
He made mistakes everyone is entitled to a second chance . He can only judged by the lord above . He truly believed in what he did was truly the best for the country. Our country among others in the world is compassionate and forgiving. R.I.P. President Richard Milhous Nixon 😢
Every president made big mistakes while in office. It was Nixon's bad luck that he was the only one who got caught red-handed. Had Alex Butterfield never revealed the WH taping system, it's very likely Nixon would've served out his second term.
@@doncookie3127 Nixon screwed his country, he screwed Mexico, Nicaragua and Colombia to name a few, the war on drugs only brought death, made criminal groups stronger, drugs continue to flood the US and weapons arrive like candy for the mexican cartels. Nixon is nothing but a criminal piece of sh*t.
I think about a year or less then a year, First Lady Pat Nixon passed away in 1993 , Pres Nixon never recovered from Pat Nixon’s death … RIP to one of the greatest US President .. God bless to Pres Nixon and his family 🙏🏼
A fitting tribute to a great man. Through hard work and determination he went the "long way from Yorba Linda to the White House" in order to do great things. God Bless Richard Nixon.
Most of the deep respect the fear of the Lord as a Quaker from his mother, his character was shaped early on so that he can stand firm in every breath unshakeable in ups and downs on a constant horizontal line because he knew who holds the future judgment from his heart so he could leave the highest office without a regret and without the bitter roots but freely and voluntarily in the public eyes. Good gentleman. Praise the Lord! What a talented man of God in our time!
That’s me at 2:41 giving President Richard Nixon a salute in my Boy Scouts of America Crew Troop 46 uniform on February 17, 2009, my last day in the Boy Scouts.
Thank you , President Nixon, for opening mainland China . my grandfather’s generation , my father‘s generation, and my generation are all extremely grateful. also , I learned on the day of the grand opening of the new library from the speech by Tricia, that President Nixon was instrumental with title nine for female student sports. thank you again! and thank you for the temporary exhibition at south coast plaza! and President Nixon , thank you for being not arrogant at all when you visited San Francisco shortly before you left for your eternal realm!
I’m surprised how complimentary everyone is of Nixon in the comments. I suppose Watergate, Vietnam, and the Nixon tapes cannot paint his Presidency as a complete failure.
Tbf he did end Vietnam. Plus the implementation of section 9, assuring desegregation of schools, and expansion of the clean air act, all lend to his supposed legacy. Wonderful statesman; but a controversial, bigoted, and paranoid human being
The man was surrounded by actual conspirators the entire time that conspired to frame him and destroy his reputation with such complete brutality that he had to vacate the Presidency to avoid imprisonment. Democracy sided with Nixon and a certain other, prominent American political family took steps to reverse democracy. He made drug policies that will probably end up killing me before I see them reversed. I can't really say I love the guy, but that's not his fault that no one ever did this argument any real thought or conviction in the time since Watergate.
