I absolutely agree with Gary. My great grandfather died early Thanksgiving morning. The paramedics came to remove the body and my family continued on with preparing dinner. Yes, we mourned and the tone of the day changed but we still had to eat and that's what he would have wanted us to do.

Death do not have a certain date, time, month, or a year. Thank God that Gary mother was truly strong woman to know that once he took his last breath, there was nothing more anyone could do. It’s sad but when things are not in your control, you turn it over to God because there was nothing else they could do. His father had transitions into Heaven. The End. No Ricky Smiley, you're getting it wrong! When a love one dies, the family & very close friends of that family, *"in mourning their lost love one",* pay their respects to this individual by going on with their life & at the same time celebrating & sharing joyous *"Life"* memories of the now deceased individual, rather their bodies are still in the house are not! 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Maybe Gary's dad didn't mind at all, he probably was waiting for the rest of the family to arrive and God has other plans. So the family celebrate his life and enjoy the food giving thanks. And planned for the funeral service few days later, ..... the dead has no place among the living and wasting or not eating will not bring the daed back to life. There is a time and season for all things.

People grieve differently. So I think some expect others to react the way they would. #2 - Life goes on. The dinner was being prepared, people flying in... everything doesn't stop because of one. People still need to eat... whether they prepare their own, get take out.... or eat a Thanksgiving meal that was already prepared. The latter makes sense.

It really doesn’t make sense for them to stop cooking. When someone loses a loved one, sometimes the first thing we ask them is how can we help them make it through the day. Which is usually by brining them food or helping do tasks they probably can’t do because of the grief. So if the Turkey is already baking why would you take it out? That’s actually a good sign, that ppl are working through their grief in a healthy manner. Ppl losing their appetites is not a good thing. Lol I’m witchu Gary.

Death has no regard for holidays. When it's your appointed time to leave this life, it's what it is. While I'm sure Gary's family was likely sad, they know that even though his father's life had ended, theirs did not. They still had to go on. But, I think something everybody may not have considered is that Rickey probably felt the way he did is because he's still mourning the loss of his son Brandon. That would explain to some extent his sensitivity on the subject. No one was wrong in this discussion. Everyone had a legitimate argument.

Thanksgiving is every day because every day we should be thankful. Maybe people see things differently you can mourn but if you know that the person who passed loved and believed in God it should be a celebration because they went to heaven and you will see them again. That’s how I look at it. My uncle passed two days before thanksgiving we didn’t cook or anything. I bought food to take to my aunts house because no one brought food where we gathered. So some people are different if that makes sense
