Since you are enjoying them...another "one take" video!
As you know I don't overdub or correct this kind of vid.
I simply publish the take straight like it was recorded, with all the imperfections and mistakes.
I decided to record this song without struggling to replicate the record sound.
I opted for my stock preset which replicates an '80s live rig sound, hope you don't mind.
I used my own preset for AmpliTube (soon to be revealed on the complete review and shared if you like).
Guitar used is my Ferrari Red Special.

Unfortunately, the way of playing based on volume and / or also tone control is much more unusual nowadays, for example another typical example of the "old school" in this sense, which I really like (as I was born in 70s) is Carlos Santana especially in the past (Europa, Samba pa ti and many other examples in the past discography).

@Richard Bennett when Brian May started recording with Queen, he had a guitar effect (fuzz-or distortion) mounted into his guitar. Later it was removed-so he added this little piece of black plastic to cover the remaining holes. It has no special meaning, it is just a detail for guitar freaks and brian may afficionados (I am both, too))

@@MarcoGDiMarco huge respects!) will you tape the coin to the headstock than?) by the way-which brand of the replica is this? I am always so frustrated-as 90% of all have this stupid strat-type tremolo, nothing in common with the original

@@individrus Never liked the coin on the headstock really. I prefer the '80s look of the guitar. This replica was made by Ferrari Guitars and it's stunning.

All the fiddling with the volume and the slight touch on the whammy bar: Very very well done! That really nails the May-vibe. Congratulations, good sir! The quick movements to the controls between the picking look exactly like the master himself. Oh....and great playing as well!!

Golly! Holy moly! What else can I say ? This sounds really close to the original. I always wondered how Brian May created the deep low tone for the intro. I thought he tuned lower but it makes sense to use a whammy bar! Your guitar playing is excellent ! 👌

How do you manage to uphold your passion for Brian May, and his guitar? What do you do when you feel like you need a break from all Queen related stuff? Sometimes I get so sick of Queen songs just because I overplay them, and I need a break.

Ormai uso la 5. L'AXE I/O fa una grande differenza come controlli e soprattutto per la qualità del suono, altro livello.

Ciao Marco, by the way...the behavior of the volume circuit on the Red Specials if I understand it is let's say inverse to the standard circuit , in the sense that by lowering the volume, the tone not only cleans up but becomes brighter, the typical glassy tone, as it is said in the review of the Brian May G. Super model. In other guitars usually if you turn down the volume ,with the same tone setting, you get a drop in the high frequencies unless you have added the so-called Treble bleed filter in the circuit.

Not really...no special circuit in the RS. The reason why it's still clear when rolling back the volume pot is because of the Treble Booster. It maintains the high frequencies in the sound, sending a clear but subtle signal to the up-full AC30 on Normal channel, which doesn't saturate anymore and produce a crystal sound.

@@MarcoGDiMarco Il primo disco è in un certo senso peculiare per quanto riguarda il suono di Brian, vero? Può essere che per alcune parti utilizzasse addirittura ancora il fuzz "integrato" nella RS che poi disinstallò? Può essere che abbia letto qualcosa di simile?

@@MarcoGDiMarco in realtà una grossa parte del lavoro gliel'ha apparecchiata Mercury al piano 😀 Deaky ha aggiunto dei particolari, che ovviamente fanno la differenza. L'anno prossimo verrò al meeting Red Special ... se siete disposti ad accogliere un bassista (patito di John Deacon, tra l'altro).
