The sound design on that ship lifting from the tar is simply chef's kiss. Death Stranding is my favourite game, and I cannot wait for the successor. Visually and audibly stunning. Interesting storytelling that I am sure will not disappoint in DS2.
This takes me back to the times when classic movies got sequels so they had to really question the themes of the original. "Should we have connected?" Cannot wait for another excellent Kojima game!
@@muneshxge This sequel is telling or make us regret about what we've (SAM) done before. Looks like that those all are bllshit. There's something that bridges didn't tell about reconnecting the NY and its posiblities. It's like its in the prophecy or we've just being manipulated
DS' ending very much gave the vibes that connecting didnt do shit as the structures that led to the brink of the next extinction event are still in place and still protected so this is a natural progression. Also of course Sons of Liberty had a similar dynamic with MGS1 to what DS2 may be to DS. Very excited
the fact that this game exists now is prof that kojima is officially done making games for the money, it is completely clear that this is a passion project and I wish more devs would do this. death stranding is a underrated masterclass of game design and i cant wait for the sequel
Difference being that Sony Interactive Entertainment are funding this passion project while other major publishers prefer to avoid taking any financial gambles on new projects instead of the safe franchise route
@@pumpum9937 Did you read his journal entries? Deliver all the pizzas? He had power before he met Amelie, had power before he met Fragile, too. He just didn't understand it and was a bit of a psychopath so he did all the wrong things as soon as he got out of the bunker and saw the outside world for the first time. He's less powerful without her but definitely not lacking power completely.
Just finished Death Stranding, never thought I would play something like this and now I am sad it's over, all the walk, building the story, perfection, thank you Mr Hideo Kojima, eager to see what the sequel brings and can't wait to start walking again in your world ❤
We can clearly see how much of an effort Kojima is putting into DS, trying to build a new game just like Metal Gear that has the same or more impact on audience. The first DS was cold, warm, musical, poetic and so metaphorical. I hope to see more in the upcoming DS.
I just love how Higgs not only twisted the song but many of Sam's words to BB. He's also wearing Amelie's face under the mask. Higgs is so empty he can only take from others and make it theirs.
@@mcweezybeast That is of course if Amelie is still alive and Higgs did not graft Amelie's skin on himself like so anime bad guy. But Kojima wouldn't do anything like that, right?
Holyshit "Man is empty if take from others and make it your own” 😂 Firstly, this statement is doubly funny, since Higgs’s personality is the most vibrant of all the DS characters. And after the trailer for the second part, everyone is talking about him alone. Secondly, whether we like it or not, we all adopt something from someone, because we do not exist in a vacuum, but in a community of our own kind; and thirdly, only a fool would not adopt what he likes from someone because of childish immature considerations that it is “not his” 😂
Man the first game … people said it’s an DHL Simulator.. but the gameplay was actually fun and the lore to it.. it had a reason why we needed those that traveled with heavy packages. I enjoyed to plan my travels and to get better with each travel i made. To know my routes. To see the routes others were taking, to try their way of climbing, to try something new. To work together to get a better infrastructure like the streets. I really liked it. Its something new and yes, sometimes it got boring, traveling the same routes over and over again but that was actually part of the game. In a world like this you’re going to do the same work over and over again. With problems. With help. Without help. Can’t wait to see where this is going.
I was sitting on my computer playing through Death Stranding for the fourth time tonight and caught this live on The Game Awards. I CANNOT believe it. I'm losing my mind right now, lmao!
@@yatheo2969 I thought the same about Fragile. Wonder how they'll explain that. I also notice the weird dude in the mask at the end is wearing Amelie's necklace. 👀
@@brianmdunbar made me think it was her at first but knowing Kojima it could be a complete a misdirection. Really hope we go to the desert that was shown in the trailer too.
@Junior Tech They eat literally any crap they give them and call it a 10/10. The first one was a complete flop, so they go and re release it two more times on PC and PS5. It didn't make it's money back because it's good. It's because you just opened it up to more markets because it was a failure on PS4.
@@Tony-ol9ru I didn't much like deathstranding but I'd say that's a little harsh, wasn't a bad game, it just wasn't everyones game. I personally didn't like god of war 2018 either, but doesn't mean it was a bad game.
To say I am ecstatic is an understatement. From the first frame of the trailer, I knew. The second I heard BB's Theme, I knew. Yet a part of me refused to believe it. And then I saw Fragile... I am so excited.
Theory/analysis of mine: - The first section of the trailer happened before DS1's event. The child Fragile was carrying might be a rescued BB and this might be the starting point of her power. - Drawbridge might be the combination of Fragile Express and Bridges. The 2 have a great possibility to join forces to defeat some threats or something. - Sam is not that old, might be some sort of accelerated aging like Snake in MGS4. As we can see Fragile doesn't look that old in the trailer. - Higgs is back in a cyborg body somehow?
Maybe the one who appears at the end of the trailer with a mask is Higgs in Amelie's body? why? or as? no idea, [insert crazy theories] I contribute mine, I already saw a user say in a comment, and if Higgs took Lou [for the reason of "x"] and they painted him as if he came back and he is the bad guy in the movie but in reality he joined Amelie and actually you just want to save it from another private group as shown?
spoiler: sams age may be due to the fact that amellie temporarily sealed off both the beach and the death stranding. due to not having direct connection with amellie, which was a leading factor in his dooms level, it may have accelerated his age.
@@leonardodestefanis7133 Perhaps it occurs before the events of DS1, but it is rare, the dream catcher that Sam has at the beginning of DS1 is seen hanging, so either he found that object in that abandoned stationor it happens after the 1st and maybe like Amelie did a pause in extinction, He left his connection with the beach stranded so that by "not being immortal" his physical deterioration would accelerate and Fragile would recover his.
I didn’t even realize but Troy baker was singing the whole time? That’s so cool lmao, he must be so happy he’s able to lend his voice to a major production like this 👏.
Dear Mr. Hideo Kojima, thank you for creating this beautiful masterpiece of Death Stranding. I'm becoming a father and had to hold back my tears during the storyline of Death Stranding 1, but chapter 14 finally blew everything out. The Q-PID didn't just connect America into the chiral network, it affected the entire world! Just finished the game after 230 hours and i can say it was a great and unique experience. Exciting to see there will be a part 2, thumbs up!
The moment i heard BBs theme i got emotional 😭❤ looks absolutely stunning! This is indeed PS5 only title.. i am so happy seeing all the characters.. i didn't expect i would miss them but i did 😭❤
This trailer was incredible! Every scene in this has my head spinning; from those people in red carrying that coffin, grey hair Sam, Fragile's ship, to Higgs(?) cosplaying a cyberpunk Amelie. It's all so incredibly exciting and I can not wait!! Keep On Keeping On💙
Like Kojima said, there's so much to think about in this trailer that I don't need to see anymore because I'm already hooked on where it takes the story.
HK built a beautiful world. A perfect juxtaposition to ours where the inky black is the filament of creation on a blank canvas. I am so glad he didn't choose to abandon it for the sake of blind outcries. Keep drawing those bridges over the chasms of mediocrity. I will always connect to the other side.
From the moment I've heard the first note of BB's Theme I just held my breath and didn't blink, so happy to see this amazing trailer of the amazing game!!!
amazing! funny story short. I got this game with a video card I got for my kid. years later I get myself a brand new asus rog 4070 for " office work" and decided to give it a try and download on it now, I am hooked on this game just in time to see the second part coming.. awesome!
More like a submarine. DS2 in-dev name is Project Ocean. This, and the octopus tentacle inside of BB capsule. Everthing sort of connects to a marine theme
I bought a 4k TV and took a week off of work when DS1 came out. It was the first time I used vacation time in my working career. I'm definitely using another week of PTO when DS2 comes out.
This looks absolutely amazing, visual stunning & unique. You know this will push the boundaries of the first and provide something different and special with these great characters and universe. And just the fact that now connecting everything could have been a mistake shows how humanity can be it's own destruction in the end maybe? Hyped, cannot wait for more!
How are the previously oddball weirdo characters great then aye? Are u on drugs or sumink? The WHOLE game was a painful padded choreof mental & physical (arthritic hands)torture! Pray to the Univers that mistake isn't repeated ever again or I'm out. We wanted a game with decent GAMEPLAY not whatever that mess was...
This made my day, my week, my month, my year. Death Stranding was a masterpiece, i was looking foward a sequel so hard. I am soy happy right now. Thank you Kojima for sharing your creativity
Drawbridge (a bridge that can change into a cliff and back into a bridge when needed). The stick and the rope, together. To protect and connect. Things will be really different. Also, a big sign the game will be geared towards more action and combat gameplay.
So from dissecting the trailer so far, there are a few things of note. - The red armored troops carrying the red marked casket at the start has that statue of a woman (potentially Amelie?). The body in the casket is already in necrosis, as black ooze is already leaking out. No idea who could be in the casket(guesses?) -These same red troops are later in the end sequence with the masked man (Higgs? He is wearing Amelie's gold necklace after all) and the emblem of the woman is on his guitar strap. -(EDIT) Upon further inspection, the masked man in red.... seemingly has Amelie's face/head..... The hair and mask seem to indicate it to be hers..... Did Higgs fuse himself to Amelie? Did he make a bridge like mech suit with her head on it to somehow get back from his beach? QUESTIONS.... -(EDIT2) Further inspecting the statue of the woman at the start of the trailer, there is two round objects on her chest. I believe these two bumps represent the earth and the moon. The jagged bits on the top seem to match the floating pillars they are carrying the casket towards as well. -Drawbridge seems to be a new branch of Bridges. The logo is also on the (space?!?!)ship that Fragile is wanting Sam to go with her on. -(EDIT3) The baby is indeed Louise as pointed out by a commenter. -Fragile seemingly figured out how to undo the effects of timefall on her body. Not sure how she managed to accomplish that, but cool. -Louise is seemingly killed (along with Fragile herself) and sent back to the BB tank that was back at her hab (previously inhabited by a fish aquarium). Makes sense as Louise would have dooms like Sam and Fragile, which would mean being able to repatriate (return to your body after death). That is all i really pulled out. Can't wait to see more!
Sam is only able to repatriate because of Bridget using her powers to revive him. Having Dooms doesn’t make you a repatriate but she could still be one
I loved Death Stranding and felt it was a complete circle without the need for a sequel, it was a perfect self-contained experience. I thought, if Kojima was to make a sequel for something like DS, he would hve to change the fundamentals. I definitely think he is going to do it with DS2 and break new boundaries. Now I only need a playable Elle Fanning as Lou. People are going to go back to the "walking simulator", just to understand this game better.
But it seems like Lou dies =:::::::( . Fragile sees her (or another baby?) die on the ground after getting shot. You hear Cliff Unger talking to Sam ("don't worry BB"), trying to comfort him. And then, there's a shot of the BB pod, with a BT coming to life in it. Then, you hear Sam say "Lou?" while looking at it. You never know with Kojima lol We really need to experience and see what true unfolds
@@coatza86 With the Cliff speaking to BB situation, it actually sounds like Troy Baker's voice, quoting exactly what Clifford Unger said to his BB before he died. I think this is Higgs somehow coming back, but he's either under the Influence of Cliff (because he used a Cliff line or Amelie, because he looks like he is wearing an Amelie mask at the end.
@@mauzki- he's talking about at 2:10 or so. Right after Lou stops crying, it cuts to the pod and you see a BT version (including the wings Lou was wearing) form in the pod. Right after the voiceover says something about 'experiencing such loss' and 'not holding onto the sadness' while Sam and Fragile talk (with no Lou in sight). Then at the end, Sam is holding the pod with the tentacle showing up when he says 'Lou?' and you hear a baby. Lou might be both a BT AND some kinda tentacle monster together.
I already knew a sequel was in the works based on a couple of things I saw online, but it was still surreal to see a trailer for it - I really had a hard time believing it was real. I love the first game so much and absolutely cannot wait to see what happens in this one. Also - this rendition of BB's Theme is stunning.
I started Death Stranding in March 2020, working in the mailroom of a very large company. A few weeks later the office closed because of COVID and it was a ghost town, but I was still there. The packages still had to be received, the people I communicated with only through screens still needed items sent out. Many days went by where I didn't see another person, I was an "essential worker" and had to be there. I would return home and sit down with Death Stranding. Playing it gave me hope, I felt understood; it was prophetic and seemed to be speaking directly to me, urging me to rebuild and push forward through the loneliness. I've never experienced such an eerie, direct connection with a video game before or since. Very much looking forward to the sequel, thanks team.
This surprised the hell outta me. Much as I loved the first game, felt like it was surely considered complete, that we'd never get more of that world. Definitely never expected to see the same characters if we did return. Extremely excited to see where this is going...
I'm just sitting, contemplating the absolute nothing, like the time when i finished the first Death Stranding. No words, no sounds, nothing. I think I'm going to cry a bit now. Thanks.
Kojimas vision and art direction is insane.I am glad he can make these type of games with his studio. I am ready for this experience and adventure.🙏 Damn kojimas trailers are so good edited! Goosebumps everytime.😨
I didn’t have a PlayStation when Death Stranding launched. I reallllly enjoyed it when I got to it on ps5. I’m so glad I’ll be able to play this one on day one.
I know that in this age saying no to mega corps is hard but truly thank you for staying independent as much as possible. I love everyone takes part in you company. Thank you.
When I first heard the opening notes to BB’s theme, I thought it was a joke. I couldn’t believe it, or maybe it was a story expansion or DLC. But it turns out it was Death Stranding 2! The rumors are true! The sequel to one of the greatest video games of all time is actually happening! Thank you Sony and Kojima for making this sequel. The first game was one of the most beautiful and emotionally impacting experience of my life, and I can’t wait to play the sequel! ❤😊
@@Zer-db1bp - Yeah, Death Stranding immediately became relevant after Covid lockdowns. That’s when it got really popular on the PS4 and PC during the summer of 2020, when there was nothing else to do.
absolutely devastating that some people let the gameplay get in the way of enjoying death stranding. it was, for me, one of the best cinematic experiences i had in the last decade, & i will absolutely be supporting kojima with this next title. see you all in 7 years for the release!
Death Stranding is one of the best experiences I ever had with a videogame (I will never forget been alone stranded in my house because of the pandemic, getting my food and supplies thanks to deliveries -at the time when we really didn't knew how bad the virus was-) and playing Death Stranding during those days, with basically a very similar situation on the plot (getting supplies and connecting stranded people) was like fourth wall breaking, I felt so connected with the game and helped me a lot through the lonelynes of quarantines. After things returned to "normal", I head out on a journey to seek for the Collector's Editon (had to travel to another city to get my BB) and now she's right there on my living room
With the sarcophagus, it's obvious that it's Higgs, as he already have that whole Egyptian Pharao thing going on, with the Amelie figure, it was a tease to the ending of the trailer.
Lord, Troy's voice makes an amazing song even more magical, sorrowful and beautiful. I cant wait to live in this world again. Call me a Kojima Fanboy, but he always knows how to create such amazing stories and games. So many questions...and no answers whatsoever. This is how you do a trailer. Hollywood, are you paying attention?
Кодзима гений, специально растягивал прохождение первой игры чтобы насладится игрой по максимуму, спасибо за этот анонс, даже если не будет локализации на русский, то всё равно найду способ купить игру❤❤❤
I am having my first child, a girl, in three days time. With this game's story revolving around a baby and the emotional development of the adults around that baby, I am incredibly grateful and happy to see that a game like this is coming into existence at this time in my life. There is a synchronicity between my life and this game, or perhaps the strands have just come together. Either way, I look forward to playing this game for many hours while my little one naps on my lap like Lou. The first lullaby I sang to my little girl was from Death Stranding: "See the sunset, the day is ending... let's those sighs out, there's no pretending..."
My daughter was born about half a year before Death Stranding released initially. It really was a strange and powerful experience holding her in a carrier on my chest while playing. Good luck dude. Parenting is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. My daughter turns four soon, and teaching her about the world is such a wonderful experience. The first year is the hardest. But you’ll adapt and get through it. Those first laughs, rolls, and crawls will shock you. You’ll experience emotions you didn’t realize you could. And yes you will get irrationally angry at a defenseless little infant because it won’t stop screaming. That’s ok too. Be patient with her, but also with yourself. Ugh this trailer has me all emotional and I’m gushing at you. My wife just beat Death Stranding for herself a couple weeks ago and she is excited now too. Anyways, good luck. See you on the bridge link whenever DS2 comes out!
Congratulations and don't be too hard on yourself, if you need any tips there are plenty of us dads out there you can talk to but you got this man! I played the first game with my first born daughter strapped to my chest in a baby sling, it made the whole game that much more intense for me and weirdly enough, having to take care of 2 bb's at the same time (in game and irl lol) prepared me for having 2 kids. I can't wait to play this new chapter in the stranding verse with my bbs to guide me.
