Age of Empires 2 is much more "mobile" compared to Stronghold. Turtling in stronghold is easier and a large emphasis is placed on taking down walls, while in aoe2 stay in one place with no map control will be heavily punished and fast units like knights are favored

@@chingamfong Yeah, that's because the main idea of Stronghold is a chess in RTS form. You will focus more in defense instead of offense and everything on map is already visible just like a chess board. Opponent make movement, you make a counter measure. No surprise attack, hide and seek, or whatsoever (Or the least player will do for this is an assassin rush). Not to mention that Stronghold games are technically an RTS game with only one faction due to same units, same buildings, and everything purely depends on player's strategy, which again just like chess.

​@vieri031 until you play one, and it becomes a survival of the fittest. SH Crusader is a game wherein you've to 'really' manage the economy aswell as counter the threats, it's more of a defense strategy game, which is a different approach to the AoE where much emphasis is given to offensive.

Have you ever seen competetive games in Stronghold Crusader? It's pretty toxic and also kinda boring since the strats are always the same.

@@xMacieX yup I actually like to watch other RTS competitive games but even when Crusader is my all time favourite, the competitive scene is absolute shit. I hope a remaster can rectify it.

Hmm this tactic seems like a good way to cheese an AI but a human would be able to spot this and just pull out the catapult & trebuchet before getting close.

Yup it’s a very old and known exploit. Did you know about teleporting stones from the quarry to the oxen? Uses a similar technique.

Another important thing to mention is that worker also uses well as resting area. I don't know if water pot is counted, but by using that trick you can no longer build fire station.

It will because the castle's not enclosed, the AI will go after the breach, which is where the death tower is

AI in Stronghold Crusader is designed to rush to your keep as long as your castle is not enclosed, even if your lord is not on the keep. Otherwise, they will destroy your buildings or attack any nearby unit. This is why you can legitimately make a labyrinth as a one way entrance and exit and expect enemy to just storming in without actually hitting any single wall. AI will prioritize your lord as a target only when the lord is caught in its aggro radius.

If it's the only (or I think, even the closest) unobscured entry point to your keep, the pathfinding AI will _always_ send the entire army through it.

whaaat 200-300 crosbowmen do their job in defending against 50k attackers, you know 7 vs 1, enemy have 20 outpost spawning troops 15 of them spawning slaves, 2 h later you have few hundreds spawning each second, still nothing to worry about

Yes They Make Every Unit Attack 25% More Stronger If You Use Maypoles And Other Good Stuff But Your Workers Like Farmer Will Give You Less Apple But If You Use Bad Things Like Hangers Workers Will Give You More Resources However Your Army Damage Will Be Decreased By 25% ( All The Workers)

no. You don't have enough time to set this up before the attacks, nor enough money to actually make it work considering the amounts of enemies. Making a moat to block off the 'side entrance', and setting up square towers with crossbowmen and ballistas protected by moving shields, combined with a labyrinth, and possibly some firebomb throwers on a tower overlooking it against some bigger attacks is the way to go
