I think the Thunderdrum would win, given that our premise is that the Thunderdrum actively sought the Deathsong out, and therefore had time to prepare for the fight, maybe even study the deathsong. The Thunderdrum IS smart and we've already established that the deathsong won't notice intruders until he gets attacked or literally stumbles over them

I am bored so I have decided too cover a few more things before writing my many ideas of what could happen. So, in the beginning of the video, it is stated that this is the Thunderdrum from Race to the Edge out for revenge. This is important, as if the Thunderdrum is out for revenge it has a chance of making foolish decisions and might miss battle-winning opportunities. It is also stated that the Thunderdrum would have to come up for air in the water/ocean, where Hello Future Me predicted the Thunderdrum would drive the Deathsong, meaning it can't breathe underwater and an amber blast to the wings, tail and maybe even eyes can be a battle-winning blow. As the wings are quite a large part of all dragons in HTTYD, this puts the Thunderdrum in serious danger. Plus, even if the Thunderdrum got in close enough to unleash a Supersonic Blast, the Deathsong has the edge in close combat and amber blasts that could stop the blast by shooting at the Thunderdrum's mouth before it opened and released the soundwave, which could permanently damage the inside of the Thunderdrum's mouth when it was released, meaning that even if it shook the amber off without suffocating (Seriously, their noses are REALLY close to their mouth and easily could have been covered too.) It would lose its main weapon and would be easily defeated by the Deathsong. On the other side of the table, even small legs can come in handy, and those teeth on the Thunderdrum are REALLY sharp. In close combat, a Thunderdrum could rip the wing of a Deathsong by biting, scratching or ramming. Plus, the suprise advantage is a true weapon as, instead of using its blast and disorienting the Deathsong, it could sneak up and jump, snapping the Deathsong's neck, winning the battle before it even began! In total, I say the Deathsong, besides what it was given in the episode, has worse ground combat, better combat above the ocean and equal firepower to that of the Thunderdrum, who has better ground combat, worse combat ABOVE (don't rage at me I said ABOVE) the ocean and, again, equal firepower to the Deathsong. Now onto the fun part! Note: After each possible Battle, I will award each dragon a 'point'. Whichever dragon with the most points has the highest chance of winning in my opinion and gets my vote along with maybe yours. Battle! The Deathsong is happily feasting on the dragons which it has caught in its lair. The thunderdrum sneaks up on it, 1A: The Thunderdrum shoots a supersonic blast at the Deathsong, underestimating the distance between them, dealing a non-lethal blow, the Deathsong is temporarily immobile, (10 seconds I say?) In that time the thunderdrum flies up, attemting to lure the Deathsong into the open water. Taking the bait, the Deathsong flies up, Shooting Amber Rapidly. 1AA: One blast of amber hits the Thunderdrum's wing. It begins to spiral out of control, crashing to the ground. Furious, the Deathsong shoots it in place with amber, a meal for another day. DS: 1 TD: 0 1AB: Narrowly avoiding the attacks, the Thunderdrum makes it to open water. Where the Deathsong, who has superior speed, shoots an amber blast at the Thunderdrum. 1ABA: The blast solidifies around the Thunderdrum's tail, Unable to control its flight, it crashes into the water. Struggling for air, it is left at the Deathsong's mercy as without its tail, the Thunderdrum is unable to fly. DS: 2 TD: 0 1ABB: Narrowly avoiding the attack, the Thunderdrum charges the thunderdrum. 1ABBA: The Thunderdrum tears the wing Membrane of the Deathsong, 1ABBAA: struggling to grab a hold of the Thunderdrum, the Deathsong plummets into the ocean, unable to swim, and drowns. DS: 2 TD: 1 1ABBAB: the Deathsong wraps its wings around the thunderdrum as it falls, shooting an amber blast into its face, which plugs its nostrils, mouth and eyes. They plummet to the water, both doomed as neither can survive. DS: 2.5 TD: 1.5 1ABBB: Narrowly avoiding the Deadly Strike, (or, stryke? (I am VERY bad at puns)) 1ABBBA: The DeathSong flies up behind the Thunderdrum, where it is able to amber-blast the Thunderdrum's wings. The Thunderdrum spirals into the water where, unable to fly, it drowns. DS 3.5 TD: 1.5 1ABBBB (SO, MANY, Bs!) The Deathsong charges the Thunderdrum, who quickly turns around, releasing a deadly Supersonic wave. The Deathsong Plummets, Holding its breath untill it recoveres. Assuming its foe is dead, the Thunderdrum turns around, flying towards the island to claim its prize, the Deathsong's Lair. The Deathsong jumps out of the water, grabbing the thunderdrum with its wings and shooting a blast in its face, Plugging its nose, eyes and mouth. Throwing the Thunderdrum in the water. The thunderdrum, with only a breath of life left, lunges at the Deathsong from underwater.. 1ABBBBA: Unable to see, the Thunderdrum misses. Suffocating before it hits the water. DS: 4.5 TD: 1.5 1ABBBBB: Grabbing the Deathsong, the Thunderdrum's breath runs out and it holds onto the Deathsong's tail, hoping to take its foe down with it.. 1ABBBBBA: The Thunderdrum's weight drags them both into the water, Drowning them. DS: 5 TD: 2 1ABBBBBB: The Deathsong beats the Thunderdrum with its tail, shaking it off and dropping it into the water. DS: 6 TD: 2 1B: The Thunderdrum snaps the Deathsong's neck, killing it Instantly before the battle even started. (Wonder why this one was last?) FINAL SCORE: DS: 6 TD: 3 In the end, surprise only counts for one extra point. Note: this took me an hour and thirty minutes to write. -Random

5:40 Thu Thunderdrum's blast made a huge cliff collapse from about quite a distance away. Also it doesn't loose as much power as you say, it still is pretty dangerous from hundreds of meters.

Death song for me since speed, long range and close combat have an advantage to the thunderdrum. The best option for the fight in the thunderdrum is to close to the water but speed and amber blast which can disable the opponent with pinpoint occuracy has a good chance to stop the suprise attack mystery card. Also the suprise attk may not come into play since the death song is attracting a meal wouldn't the thunderdrum would need to make noise to counter it. Its brash aggressive nature may give it the win in reactive aggressive attacks and not giving a inch

Hello again, Tim, Another great video! For my argument on which dragon won, I believe the thunderdrum would win the battle. Here's why: It's superior maneuverability and impressive intelligence allow it an edge in battle. The thunderdrum can quickly analyze its opponent and figure out the "do's and don'ts" for the ensuing battle. It will quickly figure out that by maintaining an altitude advantage over the death song, it will also maintain the speed advantage and render the death song's superior straight-line speed useless (simple physics: climb to gain altitude, then convert altitude into speed by diving, then reconvert speed into altitude by zoom climbing, in other words, the dragon with the higher altitude is actually the faster dragon). Because the thunderdrum can launch the battle with a surprise attack coming in from the sun, it can catch the death song completely off guard and give it a bone-shattering roar. If the roar does not break any bones, then the concussive blast will disorient the death song long enough for the thunderdrum to move in for a lethal bite at the death song's long, vulnerable neck. Simply put, if the thunder drum performs a quick strike and is aggressive on the first attack, it can quickly finish the battle. Many dragons may not have the intelligence to do this, but the thunderdrum certainly does have the knowledge and the ability to attack in this manner (though most are reasonably intelligent, more intelligent than Rounghnut & Toughnut usually). Thus, a quick, decisive initial blow could end the battle before the death song even has a chance to react. Therefore, I claim that the thunderdrum is the winner.

The thunderdrum! Because it is way smarter and it would make the death song so enraged that it would forget all reason. This would be a huge advantage if the thunderdrum gets to the water, especially if it can keep its opponent really mad and disoriented. This combined with its wild card advantage would almost defiantly give it the win.

I have a question I'd love you to look into: How was Toothless immune to the Death Song's call? He's the only dragon in the episode that is able to stay focused on Hiccup and the other riders. Is it purely the bond, a night fury's general intelligence, or do you have another theory?

I'd go for the Thunderdrum. If he's sonic blast is so powerful and that age and size, then it stands to reason that it would be powerful enough to knock the Deathsong's amber shot out of the sky. Literally. And if the Thunderdrum can dive to such a depth that the Deathsong couldn't even see its shape in the water then the Tunderdrum could swim a fair distance away, come up for air where the Deathsong couldn't see it, and dive to stealthily resurface behind it. The blast it would unleash would knock the Deathsong out of the sky and into the water. I'm not sure if the Deathsong can swim or not but it makes sense that it isn't the most active dragon out there.

I think that the Thunderdrum would win, but it depends on how agile it is. Both dragons have been seen as extremely agile and able to easily avoid being cornered, the Thunderdrum more so I think, but it's hard to say. I think if the Thunderdrum didn't get hit by the amber blasts, it would win, but if it did...well, let's hope his baby is already ready to live on its own!

On the mohs scale, amber is actually relatively weak, so I would not be surprised if the thunder drum could easily destroy the shots if it can kill men with its sonic bursts. So thunder drum wins

I would say the death song because: 1. It has superior hearing, it would hear the thunderdrum before it attacked. 2. It can see the thunderdrum if it tried to attack from behind. 3. The death song can fit in tight spaces like caves, so it could attack from many different areas if it was in a cave like environment. Also do you think you could do a battle between the screaming death and the red death.

As I said on your other video, Thunderdrums were stated to be one of the most powerful dragons to exist multiple times, there's no way a Death Song could defeat it at any given time. It could defeat that particular one, but maybe another Thunderdrum would defeat the Death Song instead.

Thunderdrum. The lack of capability in combat would be a crippling weakness for the deathsong. Since it's a predator that relies solely on its song rather than its claws and teeth for ambushing prey would be severely limited in a fight. The claws and teeth are more for slicing into the captured dragons and then chewing through their bones.
