A Tesla service center unintentionally installed the wrong badge on my early production performance Model 3, so come along as I share the debadging process with you. As usual, be very careful if you're going to attempt any aspect of the process described in this video--I am not responsible for any damage you may cause to your vehicle. Proceed at your own risk.

I'm happy to see that you followed up with polish and sealant! A lot of people forget that important step.

What is considered great polish and sealant brand?
@BecauseTesla
@BecauseTesla 3 года назад
@@yeahbuddy92193911 Most modern brands will be fine these days. Research the car detailer channels to see what they recommend. I use off the shelf stuff like Meguires or Mothers...sometimes I'll use Chemical Guys if I can find it locally. For sealant (car wax) it is best to stick with the same type (synthetic/non-synthetic). For example, if you've been using carnauba wax, then don't use a synthetic wax on top of it. Use another natural non-synthetic type of wax. If you want to strip off the wax and start with a different type, then that's ok. These are just rules of thumb...so just take it for what it is from an old guy that's been working on cars for a few decades now.

Good to know its an easy process to remove badges and to seal it when you're done is good info too.

Not far off getting a model 3 performance. I will be removing ALL badging, including the Tesla T front and back. I’ve just always preferred the look of cars debadged.

I’m digging your Covid hairstyle, Alex! My hair was last cut last March.

The 3m adhesive removal wheel is amazing for jobs like this. It's about 35$ but it's shocking how well it works

Alex. FYI. The AV Mall Tesla Supercharger 250 kW is now open from friends that told me.

Yeah, I spotted that in the Antelope Valley Tesla Owners Facebook group 👍 I'll have to give it a go soon.

Thanks for the tips, Alex! Going to replace my broken Tesla Logo on the back of my Model 3 now :)

There’s something about that font that makes it look like the cheap plastic that they all are. I was glad to be rid of it before my paint protection film and ceramic coating.

I sure wish there was a "PERFORMANCE" badge for the model 3
@donaldmoe3286

Since my silver Model 3 DM did not come with the dual motor badge, I asked the Tesla service to put it on during a service visit. I also added a “Model 3” badge from Abstract Ocean, so that it mimics the badging on the S and X and thus looks more complete to my eye. The whole “stealth” aspect is just not my style. To each his/her own... 😉

Did they not install the red underline beneath the dual motor badge because of your official membership in the Stealth Performance Club?
@AlexVenz
@AlexVenz 4 года назад
They didn't install the red underline because they forgot it was a performance model. The service center folks offered to put the red underline on to complete the badge, but I didn't have them do it because I just don't like the badge. I also feel like it's weird to put a trim level badge on a car that didn't include a badge from the factory... these early cars that were delivered without badges are, in a way, a part of the chaotic history of Tesla.

Every car I've debadged I just spray Goo gone let it sit for 1 minute and peel off the badges
@brucehawkinson8901

Getting my model 3 wrapped with xpel, some shops say to not take the badges off, others say they will. What are your thoughts? I just think with a white car, if you wrap around the badges, you have a exposed edges that dirt can collect
@darren4635

why wouldn't you just use turpentine to remove the tape gum ?

This method holds true for a 2021 M3?
@Julie-uo8wg

But WHY do u want to remove it?
@AlexVenz
@AlexVenz 2 года назад
My performance Model 3 is an early car, so it was delivered without trim level badging and I prefer to keep it that way. Also, without asking, the service center put the wrong trim badging on the car when I brought it in for service.

If I remove the and reapply new badge at same spot, do we have to polish and sealant? Thank you!
@AlexVenz
@AlexVenz Год назад
No, you just want the area to be as clean and oil/grime-free as possible so the new badge's adhesive will form a strong bond.
