I was literally in tears before this video was even half way over. These are some saved,sanctified,and undeniably gifted sons and daughetrs of God. Both El and James showed so much humility, vulnerability - it's incredible. I was there from the Motown debut and am thrilled to see God kept them through the thick and thins. Glory to God.

I'm seeing this for the first time in 2023... I have watched this video at least 100 times... the Debarge Family is so talented... I pray that in 2023 forward they are doing well... I ❤️ them.

They should get a really good writer to create a movie about their family. Their upbringings, success, and struggles would really identify with alot of people. Very talented family....all the men in that family were bless with this amazing, beautiful voice. I love Eldra!

I'm damn near in tears. It's so sad that such a talented and gifted family has endured so much. El has a beautiful voice and I can only imagine how far that family would've have gone had it not been for drugs and jail. I sure how hope El makes a comeback.

No one seems to realize that El was clean 2 yrs before he resurfaced everywhere! He was on tours, listening party gigs, TV and magazine interviews, live TV performances, radio interviews non-stop all of 2010! He is now on a new tour with his own band and pacing his own time because it was too much. He's openly admitted, (as of 5/30/11), that he needed time to sit down. I never assumed his 2/14/11 time in re-hab was a relasp. That's where he went for needed strength. Keep praying. It works :)

He still sounds great and sounds better than most male singers out today! He should do another album.

This is a very emotional performance from The DeBarge Family. I'm very happy that they have found God in their lives, and are letting go of their past. From drug abuse, childhood abuse, and the death of Bobby DeBarge, Jr. from AIDS, I ask the Lord to forgive the DeBarge family and become born again. I hope they can reunite and do a reunion album and a tour.

While watching the video, I felt the anointance of Jesus, Those who know what they been through understand why they sing and feel the way they do. Racism, beatings from there own father, drugs, and deaths of their sibblings. The were raised in church and they had a praying mother who stayed in church and never gave up. Their mother married a white man at 17, who abused her, who did not know nothing about being a wife or a mother and she went through hell and paid a price,but she stayed in church

Just watching this video and seeing El play that keyboard piano so well, it just hurts me that he is in pain and suffering. El is one of the best R&B singers of all time, and it's very sad that Motown took away his publishing of the hit songs he wrote with DeBarge. El, I hope that you are okay in prison, and I pray that God will wash away your sins, and continue to make new music. Your talent is a gift from God.

This is a great posting! I have loved Debarge since the 1980's. It is so good to see the family praise God. The Debarges have always had an anointing on them. Their music have always been about love. I believe that their calling is gospel music. I pray that the doors to gospel opens up for them. Good to see Mark playing trumpet! James has the calling of a minister!. I was on their mom's myspace page or bunny's. i was on one their pages and this is not all of the video. El said he was not sentenced to prison but to rehab. The judge said I won't send you to prison. He cried and was blessing God. Pray for them.

They sound great. Even live they just as awesome as they did in the 80's. I'm glad that God has had mercy let them come this far.

@lebonheurful i know exactly what you mean. i really feel God has put it on my heart to pray daily for El and his family. i've very rarely felt that about people i don't really "know". but i feel so strongly that El's "second chance" has been ministering to so many and this family is truly anointed... one day at a time. :) on another note, that trumpet is real pretty!

I pray that God will sustain El to overcome his addiction. We cannot pray "away" everything that is hard. We go "through" things 90% of the time. God will get him through this. He needs to have God's wisdom, discipline and selfcontrol to not fall into temptation again. Surround himself with Charlie Wilson, Etta James, Smokey and others who have beaten addiction and stayed clean for years. He has to cut out certain people in his life that support his old habits.Rehab is the best thing for him.

1unique spirit I really feel you right there. Something about the Debarge family that makes you want to see the best for them, and want to see them excel without the use of drugs. They lived such a rough life in their young life, yet was given a great gift from Gid to get them out of a life of poverty. The only thing about it is, when you take a person to a new place but the inside is abysed, it follows you wherever you go. This family was never healed, that's why we saw all of the abuse. I can think of a lot of singers they should be trading places with. They deserve greatness and the happiness with the big salary to match. I know that's not everything to life but at this point in their lives, it sure wouldn't hurt. It'll help them make some amends like helping their kida to get ahead.

I heard Debarge in Chicago at a church service in 1978. I grew up in the church and saw talent after talent, anointing after anointing squashed by ignorant so called saints who did not understand that God give these gifts to be used in the church. Crystal Taliefero another great gift. she plays now with Billy Joel and other great musicians....Don't put your mouth on what you aint got. These are gifts to the church to win souls to the church, not to drive them out. God Bless Them!

I personally love the Debarges and it is my prayer that despite the pain they've endured and the sins that they've committed.... just like any other sinner.... God can save em' and make them new creatures to be used for his will and his glory. I think one son is dead and about 2 others are in jail. God is so awesome and worthy to be praised.

When I see their family its like I see my family and then I see THE BLOOD of Jesus applied to everyone of their lives and my family and Jesus saved us one by one, when we backslide or got cold , it was Jesus that restored us. The race is not given to the swift , neither is it given to the strong, but he that endures to the end....Renee
