This is insane . Biden has a year and a half of polls showing him nowhere near the 4-5% lead he must have in order to have a chance in the electoral college. If you stick with Biden , and go into an election against Trump without that 4-5% lead , Trump will be guaranteed to win the electoral college. And thus win the Presidency. Biden has significant cognitive decline. I have not seen this video yet. Biden must step down and give Democrats a chance to win , by nominating a candidate who does not have dementia. Staying with Biden - even if the debate had never happened - is guaranteeing a second Trump term .

Agreed. I’m Canadian and live in the US. I find it appalling how so many people could just dump him in an instant. He has done a great job over the last three years. I’m also a nurse and could tell he was ill, and he was having a bit of trouble at the beginning, but he rallied. He’s good for America and trump is a clear and present danger. I’m praying there are more sane Americans that realize what is at stake and vote blue up and down the ballot. CNN sucked and never challenged the lies Trump churned out. Disgusting.

His ppl said ahead of the debate, that he had a head cold, had had it for a couple of days. Yet ppl went insane, when he started coughing! He was also under time restraint, which does not exist in the job, and which is bad for a stutterer, and he had some bad endings, when the red light went on, that he was out of time, and he didnt have time to finish. I noticed, Biden stuttered most in the last part of his answers, clearly he was fighting the time constraint. And CNN were atrocious! They never asked Trump the most important questions, the questions, they did ask, were formulated, like they wanted him to just lie, and he was never pressed to give an actual answer to anything. I would recommend watching Lawrence O'Donnell's opening on his Friday night show, he really put it in perspective for politics and media. And Ruth Ben-Ghiat had a lot to say about CNN's total failure to handle an authoritarian and their disastrous decision to not factcheck at all.

Biden had a bad night, but every1 are just ignoring, that he had a bad head cold and was on cold medicine. The media even started tweeting out doom and gloom and spreading panic, when he started coughing. And when u listen again, his performance was nowhere near as bad, as it was made out to be. As the focus group results and the voter interviews also show. And Trump was horrible! Yet almost no1 are talking about that. I recommend watching Lawrence O'Donnell's opening from Friday night, he really puts it into perspective. Much better than the MSNBC post-debate coverage, where Joy Reid, who never liked Biden, went absolutely off her rocker and infected every1 with her own performance.

Replace Biden with just about any other competent, composed, focused, Democrat and Trump would have very little chance; why on earth would you guys gamble the future of your country, you are handing the election to Trump on a plate. I'm a Clinical Psychologist and no expert in Speech, but when it came to his stumbling on millions /billions or this year vs this decade etc., the thing I noticed was that he very quickly was self-correcting. He could hear that he misspoke and realized it and corrected it. He seemed to me to be tracking himself pretty well - - but it comes across as glitchy and like he's in a fog. I'm not so sure. When Trump glitches he either does not correct it, or, he tries but is impotent in his efforts to do so. He keeps making the same mistakes eg "oranges /origins" or calling Biden "Obama" or calling Nikki Haley "Pelosi". There's no recognition of the slip. I'm more worried about that guy...

President Biden's point is that many more women will die having been the victims of incest (which is very common) and forced to bear a child fathered by brother or step father or uncle and not allowed abortion or even medical care. Yup. Biden was listening to Trump's answers way to much, like he was going to pick one or two to debunk. They were nothing new. Trump was not a moving target. Biden just needed to stick to 100 pre-planned zingers for the 40 minutes he had to speak. As an example, Reagan had Alzheimer's by '82, and in '84 reused a line from an '80 debate, nearly to as great effect. ("There he goes again.") Biden could have used that very line Thursday night!

From Gartner I expect a sober clinical analysis of a tragically mentally-ill ex-President. He is saying "As a clinical Psychologist doing differential diagnosis..." Well do it then.

Like Lawrence O'Donnell says, debates were invented by tv, for tv, they have nothing to do with qualifications for the job. In the job u dont have 1 or 2 minutes time slots to get ur position out, u have staff around to discuss and delegate, u have briefings etc. And this "debate" is especially atrocious, coz CNN decided to do no factchecking at all. As Ruth Ben-Ghiat says, authoritarians always win, when there is no live factchecking, that means, they can lie and propagandize with impunity, and any factchecking after the fact (which wasnt much) is worthless, coz very few ppl hear it.

Hence why his stuttering got worse in the last parts of his answers, he was feeling the time pressure and trying to get his point out in time. And bad endings like the Medicare 1 was the red light going on, that he was out of time, so he didnt get a chance to get his point out.

I agree. I also felt like Biden wasn’t feeling 100%. His voice was hoarse and the next day at his SC speech, he was also coughing some. I believe his “glitches” were stuttering related. He tried to communicate what he had accomplished and his vision for the future. He was flabbergasted with Trump’s lies. I’d have difficulty going back at someone so disturbed and I’m in my sixties.

I think CNN did a horrible job on this debate. Not pressing Trump to actually answer the questions he was asked was the biggest failing of the night. The moderators seemed afraid of Trump…not an impressive look. Where was the fact-checking? I will never watch another CNN debate…and the next one is on FOX. Oh great! I won’t be watching that one either.

Very good point. It gets disjointed. These programs could be better. I think Bandy Lee does better in her analysis of Trump.

@@harveycan5820She did a great job, but wasn't going for drama, yuks etc. She was giving a low key, non theatrical, professional analysis. As a teacher in my younger years, I lost my train of thought several times, especially when work piled up, lack of sleep (same with students) and had to say sorry. No idea what I was talking about. And the kids would put me back on track. If it happened to speakers in my class , they could pantomime " curtain down" take a pause, collect, deep breaths, start again with "curtain up." Not about senility. Also remember that Trump is a practiced performer! Ridin with Biden.

I heard he had a rigorous travelling agenda just before this debate. Why his advisors didn't ask to postpone is beyond poor judgment. Biden needs our unity and focus. Those 2 simple things will get us the win in November. We are almost there💙

Joe had a cold. One of his aides gave him some cold medicine that made him drowsy. It started wearing off mid way and was completely worn off by debates end. And,yes,he probably did have some jet lag.

Biden next day was revived and strong. And his polling numbers went UP! By Biden not seriously going up hard against Trump, people watching had a clearer opportunity to notice Trump as he is, without their backs up defending Trump against Biden attacks. The "joker" smirch sure didn't help Trump either. Trump lie-repetition was the more obvious for it.

CNN should've fact check tTump in real life and insist to answer the questions or say he refused to answer. Instead they kept asking Biden that he has another minute to answer when he already answered.

I would actually watch again, if they cover that. Bc after this one, they seem unprofessional and inaccurate. Maybe they can handle the more entertaining things such as that discussion.

Trump said that the Shark attacked a woman because the shark wasn't hungry but just "misunderstood that the woman was swimming" and not a threat. Really?? The shark did all that cognitive mediation and just made a thinking error? No one picked up on that. He was empathizing with the shark's plight! But I love your idea about analyzing the symbolism of Trump's tropes. Sharks, electrocution, faucets, flushing toilets, showerheads, etc etc. Very suggestive. Would make a great show!

Hear, hear! I lost my 11 year old son during the holiday season back in 1991 that was. Nothing to laugh about. It was heartbreaking. That’s why I love Joe. He’s had a lot of tragedies in this life and he has compassion and empathy. Not like trump who would sooner kick you when you’re down.

It’s okay to point out how aging affects Biden too. Doesn’t compare to trump’s decline and doesn’t disqualify him. He has definitely lost a step. But he’s still a good president and I still think he’ll win in November.

Tired and being sick with a head cold. Not optimal. Also a stutterer under severe time constraint, that he doesnt have in real life. And CNN really screwed up, when they decided a few days b4 the debate, that they would do zero factchecking. Just look up Ruth Ben-Ghiat's comments on that. And they didnt even ask Trump the most important questions, like about Jan 6 and his criminal conviction. The questions, they did ask, were badly formulated and invited Trump to lie even more, and they never once pressed him for an answer, which they did with Biden, when Biden was the only 1 actually answering questions. Biden had a bad night. So did Trump. CNN had the worst night of all, they were atrocious.

There should have been at the very least someone skilled in ‘moderating’ a pathological liar/felon on the team. Were they trying to pretend trump a garden variety presidential candidate?!!
