This verse 4:171 is also interesting because while Allah says, “Say not three…”, Allah gives three attributes to Jesus in this very verse! According to this verse, Jesus is: 1. Messenger 2. His Word 3. A Spirit from Him Ta-da! A quranic description of tri-unity! One yet three! What exactly is the trinity? God, His Word, His Spirit. There it is! The Creator is the Lord, His Word, His Spirit. That’s the trinity! Sura 4:171 also unwittingly debunks Muslim arguments that Jesus was nothing more than a messenger. It’s clear Jesus WAS more than a messenger! No other messenger was given the title of Kalimatullah (word of allah) and Ruhullah (spirit of allah). Only Jesus.
