I'm a conservative for Kamala. I gave up on the Republican part after Trump happened. I rather have 4 or more years of Democratic policy than to flippin end the American experiment and make the revolution against Kingship meaningless. We need to get back to arguing about spending, immigration and foreign policy in a sane way while all agreeing to preserve democracy and the rule of law, you know, like adults!

Totally agree, but whether Hillary won those debates is debatable. I think the most viral moment from any of their encounters was “You’d be in jail” in the town hall debate. Absolutely devastating. So though any serious person would agree that Hillary won on the substance, Trump ended up mostly unscathed and even managed to land the biggest blows.

Hey, I hope you'll take the time to understand what Harris is saying. The public needs to know the truth, and I give her props for calling out Trump when he's lying. Pay attention to what's happening in our country right now. Please use your common sense and vote for democracy. Vote for the Democratic candidates down the ballot. It's obvious who's fit to be president, and it's not Trump.

Common sense does not exist, never has. You probably mean "good sense" - which is both rare and subjective. I also disagree with the notion that Democrats are stewards of democracy. At this point, neither party can claim that faithfully. COVID lockdowns anyone? What about suing RFK, Jr to prevent ballot access? MeToo and Cancel Culture were extra-judicial processes to limit free expression to the one true opinion. Weaponizing the justice system (which the Republicans started - ask Bill Clinton). You are welcome to pick your poison, but let's not be naïve about your chosen team. Just one of many (and growing) unaffiliated voters.

what drove me up the wall about the first debate is that trump was also bad, it was just covered up by the fact that biden was awful. trump is not a strong debater because it's easy to get under his skin, especially this cycle. i feel so validated with biden dropping out because every other democrat besides biden would crush trump in a debate

Both candidates need to realize this will be decided by the unaffiliated voters. Continuing to pander to your base isn't going to help your cause. Answering nearly every question with something to do with illegal immigration isn't a good look for Trump. I think you are interpreting the viewership incorrectly. I would posit that the reason there were more R's than D's was because D's have already come home and more R's were looking to see if it was safe to crossover to Harris. Trump didn't even win 90% of his own primaries when he was the only candidate left in the primary race. Those Haley voters were watching in droves. If they were already good voting for a woman of mixed or non-white race, then they came in with no misogynistic or racial issues with Harris. She gave them what they wanted. This nis going to look like 2008.

PS, If it is another 2008, or even 2012, she will win Florida by a small margin. The NPA voters in some of the C FL counties out number R voters and almost equal D voters. They are going largely uncounted, and so many people have automatically written off FL, that no one is doing seriously level polling. Further, we have closed primaries in a state where local politics are dominated by R's, so a good number of R's are only that in order to vote in their local elections.

I agree completely with almost all of your points. Your first argument about viewership is bolstered by the fact that even Fox News' post debate poll showed an uncomfortably(for Rs) not-as-ridiculously/unrealistically-lopsided result, and a strong majority of their live panel of voters they had there in studio thought Harris won. Your second point about FL, I don't know enough to speak much to either for/against, although I am still kinda skeptical that Harris will actually flip FL this cycle. I don't think it's impossible by any means, and I do think it will be closer than 2016 or 2020, but I think Trump still squeaks that one out, unfortunately. And yeah, I do share your belief that Hillary, even despite her weaknesses(not to mention all of the Sanders supporters she & the DNC alienated during the primary in order to try and force "Her Turn" to be a reality), she STILL probably would've narrowly beaten Trump, if not for Comey enjoying the attention he was getting as much as he seemed to be.

Harris does not fully represent either - perhaps a lesser evil at best. Remember she said Biden was articulate still and her party ridiculed anyone that said otherwise - including fellow lefties like Jon Stewart. DNC also fought hard in the courts to keep RFK, Jr off the ballots - not a democratic move. There may be reasonable reasons to vote for Harris - but those aren't it.

Pollsters struggle gauging enthusiasm. Trump did better than polls expected in 2016, & 2020 (crowds are smaller in 2024). But polls also underestimated Democrats in 2018, 2020, & 2022. I think they're underestimating the enthusiasm for Harris. A billion raised, biggest rallies ever, & dominating the debate. But let's not do a 2016 again. Vote, volunteer, & donate.

The difference in Biden’s performance in his debate with Trump and Trump’s debate with Harris is that when Biden gave his disastrous debate performance he was debating Trump. Sure Biden was horrible, but Trump was pretty bad in his own right too. When Trump gave his disastrous debate performance he was debating Harris, and she was amazing. If we were to grade their performances at both debates on a scale of 1 to 10, Biden would have gotten a 1 and Trump would have gotten a 3 or 4. In this debate Trump got a 1 and Harris got a 10. It’s never good when your candidate gives a bad debate performance, but it’s even worse if your opponent gives a great performance.

Because the economy was in a much better place than it is now. People can’t afford groceries and gas. Housing affordability was better. People felt safer with regards to illegal immigration under Trump. Despite his antics, the majority of Americans still trust him on a number of major issues over Harris.

I’ve seen several interviews of “undecided voters.” Not one said they were definitely voting for Harris after the debate. Same online with people saying, “I’m not a fan of either one.” Makes me want to bang my head on the wall. I usually don’t care for fish. But if a server offered me a choice, a halibut fillet with ground glass covered with arsenic sauce, or a soggy peice of ordinary cod with a side of fries, I would not struggle to decide. I will never understand it.

Harris is still losing in Arizona, probably Nevada and Pennsylvania is tied. It's also too close for comfort in places like Michigan and Wisconsin. Georgia might also go back to Trump. Too many people getting too excited about these polls for Harris. National polls don't mean a lot when so many D voters are bunched up in California and New York.
