I’m so proud of you. I grew up listening to your. Dad and his singing and his movies. You are certainly a child of god’s work. This song will last long after h are gone. Blessings to you and your family
debby looks wonderful... at this time she was 57... she is pure joy for us too.. god bless your family and you debby for lighting up our lives all these years.!
ana fuentes The top hit when my son was born in 1977...and every word was fit to how I felt about having him in my life. He, truly, lit up my life! Thank you Debbie Boone, for this great song, I sang as lullaby to my baby.
Debby must have sung this song at least 2,000 times over the years, but she never seemed to get tired of it and was always gracious and lovely to her fans.
Here's my Debby Boone influence story. I was ten years old in 1977, a 5th grader when "You Light Up My Life" came out. It was so popular, that this girl brought the record to our Music Appreciation class. I recalled that for some reason even though I had no interesting the girl at all, though she did give me this unsettling feeling. We even had to sing this song at a school assembly as a class. Fast forward to a year later....that girl who brought the Debby Boone album used to look at me a lot and now I'm slowly falling for her as a 6th grader until I wake up one morning, totally sick to my stomach, singing "You Light Up My Life," as I had fallen totally in love with her!!! Because I had so many negative issues, including low self esteem, I blew my chances with her and nothing ever happened, but not being able to be involved with her really hurt me since she was the first girl I fell for, and my life has been where I've really not been in love much. Frankly, I really had no really good things to say about "You Light Up My Life." I thought it was a cheesy joke of a song and I used to get really angry whenever I heard it. Well, Debby Boone came on a Sirius radio show this year and had some great selections for music. After that, I was at a free, take it section of a used record and book store, and Debby's 1977 album was there, so I listened to the song and have come to respect the song way more and even like it, and embrace it for its historical role in my young life. Then after finding the album, I was at a garage sale and came on her 1981 autobiography, and I bought it and read it....She really has an incredible story. I don't know why Debby Boone has become en vogue for me after all these years, but "You Light Up My Life" has really been coming into my sphere over 40 years after experiencing my first love. Ironically, the first girl I fell for so hard, well, her name means "shining light." I never got married, considered it just one time but it didn't work out, and am still single as of this writing.
So many nights I'd sit by my window waiting for someone to sing me his song So many dreams I kept deep inside me alone in the dark But now you're come along And you light up my life You give me hope to carry on You light up my days And fill my nights with song Rolling at sea adrift on the waters Could it be finally I'm turning for home Finally a chance to say hey I love you Never again to be all along And you light up my life You give me hope to carry on You light up my days And fill my nights with song It can't be wrong It feels so right Cause you, you light up my life
On this day in 1949 (Nov. 7th} Red Foley recorded "Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy" at the Castle Studios in Nashville, TN... It peaked at #1 {for 12 weeks} on Feb. 4th, 1950 on Billboard's Country chart and become the first million selling country song... Four years later on Nov. 7th, 1953 his daughter, Shirley, married singer Pat Boone... And on this day in 1977 his granddaughter, Debby, was at #1 with "You Light Up My Life", it spent a total of 10 weeks at #1.. May Mr. Foley R.I.P. {1910 - 1968}
It's hard to believe she's 57 years old at this filming. No, no second verse, but she probably sings an abbreviated version these days. We all know the long version anyway. Also, it's better to leave the audience wanting more...
John Bresnik This is how she did it when she did her Christmas show in Meridian MS. She said at the end of the show "You didn't think I was going to leave without singing that song".
I just listened to the Kasey Cisyk version and can see why they had Debby record it. Kaseys voice is breathy and shallow. Not even near the same quality even as Debbys 1977 version of this song.
For you Debbie some words my mum spoke to me as I was leaving one evening: You made me cry I walked home alone in the dark night’s sky, passing some funny shaped tree. The wind spoke gently as I closed my eyes: you made me cry when you said "you’d love me until I die". But that’s cool: quenched like the animals baby was I, by streams of tears from my eyes: strolling under the moonlight listening to the whispering wind singing, you made me cry when you said you’d love me until I die. I was drifting along and alone lost like falling leaves full of water in the dry land that was bare of honey bees. Bats fluttered near and far caressing cactus trees. Lit up by the silver moon light admiring pollinated wild flowers of the United States of America where everyone was singing, you made me cry when you said you’d love me until I die.
Listen to the original version by Kasey Cisyk, the version which appeared in the eponymous movie: it's exceptional. Kasey's name was not mentioned in the movie credits, so she successfully sued the producer for it. But then the producer re-recorded the song with Debbie Boone so everybody thinks that Debbie is the original singer - but she is indeed not. Search Kasey Cisyk on RU-vid and Wikipedia: it's a surprising story of an extremely talented singer who should deserve to reach legend-status.
Nobody cares about the one nobody wants to hear. A song is a package of singer, melody and lyrics. You have little control over what the listener wants to hear again and again.
@@dolorescortesamaral9498 Olá, Boa tarde!!! Infelizmente não sei dizer. Mas acredito que sim... Vale a pena dar uma pesquisada, né?! Tudo de bom pra vc!!!
She looks really but why is she singing it so slowly behind the beat....it gives a draggy style - and she doesn't have to - maybe she thinks cause she's sung it so many times - that she can just change it up to keep it fresh but we only want to hear that she's able to sing the original way...on the beat with big money notes.
