In her 30s and even 40s she could quite credibly have been declared the most beautiful woman in the world. Her face is extraordinary!! I wonder if Chris Stein ever thought, "Jesus christ! My bird is fucking bar none!!!"
I am and was such a massive fan of Blondie and Debbie Harry and I have NEVER seen some of these clips of yours.....I would have loved to have seen this back in '81....when I think of the vitriol thrown Debbies way for going brunette and how awful they claimed she looked and the pics they used to back up that claim it makes me sad...because looking at this interview she was CLEARLY absolutely stunning with or without the main of blonde hair back in 1981. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all.
Cameo ripped the music off The Jam Was Moving with their 80's classic Word Up for sure. Debbie is such an incredible talented artist and always so beautiful.
Debbie with the red hair would of made a stunning Poison Ivy in the DC movies today. Margo Robbie based her characters image Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad on a 1975 image of Debbie.
The disappearing act that happened at this time was one of the strangest things I've ever seen in the world of entertainment. She was literally the most famous woman in America, all over the world. And then suddenly she just vanished. Completely disappeared you didn't see or hear anything. Occasionally resurfacing in very under the radar things like movie soundtracks, where she wasn't even given much clout, considering who she was. There's been multiple stories and explanations of why, but it still was very strange back then in the days of pre-internet. I think the fans were definitely still there and if the internet was around then, that wouldn't have been her fate. Notice they (Blondie) got back together shortly after the internet came about, when fans all over the world proclaimed "Hey Debbie, we love you. Come back and be Blondie again!"
The end of Blondie in 1982 has always been a mystery to me. Of course Chris was very ill but I never understood why The Hunter sort of underperformed almost everywhere in the world except England. Blondie literally swent from being one of the most famous groups in the world to non-hitmakers within a year. I thought it was a very good album but you could feel that something was wrong with the group. Their performances in the Netherlands and France were terrible and Debbie came across as disorientated. Here in Germany they cancelled all their promo work, tv appearances etc. And then - silence. The next time I heard from her was the "Rush Rush"-single which I thought was a bit lame. And by that time a certain singer from Michigan had taken over.
@@jeffersinhenderson2654 Makes sense-she and Marty Cohen were coked up when Debbie hosted Solid Gold in place of Dionne Warwick the same time period. She also appears coked up on the Muppet Show
