Most people fail to realize that when you're a beautiful person, you'll keep being beautiful no matter what age you are, so Debbie will always be gorgeous to me.
The nasty comments about her age are almost laughable. People, you either live and get older, or you DIE. THAT'S IT!! I'm glad that Debbie is still with us, still making music, and that she wrote this fantastic book.
i can still see many of her beauty features. isn't this cute/hot/fantastic? what a woman, and yes, let me scatter a little poison: what in the earth was C. Stein thinking? rethorical.
I dare one person who is making fun of her age to show us that they don't age. It's a stupid criticism. That's like making fun of people from 200 years ago because they're still not alive.
Beautiful, but at the same time always edgy, smart, insanely talented, and just inherently COOL. An iconic, integral and seminal voice in the last 40+ years of popular music.
I love how Debra Harry had a perfect balance in her creative career. She could be attractive, sexy, creative, unique without being trashy! Many of today's artist don't understand the concept of keeping it classy!
@@bo2720 I believe she's had some things "done" but she never seems to have gone too far. I think if she were to have a WEE amount of filler in her lips---just to return her previous "valentine lips", she'd look more like herself. I'm not talking anything crazy...
Ok, she’s an old woman.can we all just accept that ? Old women aren’t supposed to be “beautiful “..they can be loving, virtuous, kind, wise..but leave beauty to youth.
Beauty takes different forms, and not just physical beauty. In that sense, yes, one can have an inner beauty, etc....but the general definition of beauty , which is generally defined in its physical manifestation, as it is recognised by the majority, generally excludes the old
Lay off the interviewer lol. He’s sitting inches away from legendary rock royalty. Probably his biggest gig to date. Most of us would have kissed her feet and asked for a selfie. She is one of the nicest and most genuine stars .
They're just people. I worked in an indie record store for six years and never got star struck and met PLENTY of my idols from King Diamond to Aerosmith. Most were interesting people who'd have been great to sit round a bar and listen to their stories. Some were pompous asshoels....they're just PEOPLE who happen to have a very public profession. Debbie is down to earth from all I've seen, there's other's I would never what to meet like the vast majority of pompous assholes in pop today. This bloke is too young too remember the Blondie phenomena.
Blondie was great. I would have preferred more questions about their early days starting out and more about which songs she liked to perform and also questions about her band mates and other groups like the Ramones and Clash
Loved this interview. This Lady has always fascinated and inspired me (no I am not a stalker). Let's just say I think this world is a better place with her in it. xxx
I saw a glimpse of her interview on telly when I was recently over in Amsterdam & I thought what she said was the Truth & she is Wonderful & Fair play to her she looks Beautiful for 74. 💜 One love Top-Notch xx
This interview reminds me of conversations I had when I was younger with my cool Grandma, may she Rest In Peace. Looking back though I feel I could have shown her more respect with the personal topics I discussed with her. She took it in stride though, the same way Debbie does. Debbie has an amazing voice. Back in 1979 disco was so huge that new rock acts found it hard to get noticed and old rock acts had to perform disco hits to stay relevant. The group Blondie was able to be considered both a disco group and a punk rock group all at the same time without all the orchestration and production that made it difficult for disco acts to have live performances. It was what the music world needed at the time. I’m not sure what 80s pop music would have been like if Blondie hadn’t paved the way. It was the music I grew up with. I thank Debbie for the 40+ years of being able to enjoy her music. Strange how fast the years go by.
Debbie Harry is a true music and style icon and always struck me as incredibly hip and sophisticated. She always had something very special which is why Blondie became as big as they did. She is a beautiful woman, always was an old soul even when she was young. She has aged incredibly gracefully, I saw Blondie four years ago when she was in her early 70s and Debbie rocked the place to the ground and her voice still sounded great. She's a legend and always will be.
2:15 What a smile she has. Most were so enthralled by her physical prettiness and beauty that people didn't realize how ridiculously talented a singer and songwriter Debbie was. Her live singing style was unique sounding, like when she sang with kermit. Yes i know she's still a great singer , just thinking about her past accomplishments
Other than my wife, Debbie Harry will always be my dream woman. There's a punk/New Wave thing, with a strong sense of compassion and sincerity. Even when she was young she seemed so earnest and sincere, where most of the punk girls I knew had to act tough to hide their vulnerability.
@@ionthetarget Much more elegant than the way I would describe the creep. Awful interview with ANOTHER post millennial who just can't avoid projecting his own tiny , naive worldview onto her life story.
What I love about this interview is how Harry doesn't sound old at all - she obviously has a lot to say and sounds completely contemporary - but you notice her reflections down memory lane embody a completely different mindset pinning her to a different era in regards to things like gender or sexual politics. It's pretty incredible how matter-of-factly she is able to dismiss or roll with something like having Bowie expose himself to her or her story about the photo she was promised would be cropped. She never espouses any #womenpower, victim ideology or feminist posturing through any of the discussion. It's very refreshing, and makes her seem more powerful and progressive than any number of female pop stars who are just an army of yappers (who probably have it 10x better than Harry ever did). Lots of respect for her in her candor and demeanor in this interview.
You're absolutely correct. It was refreshing to listen to Debbie Harry speak without promotion of the feminist nonsense and victimhood narrative most modern female celebrities talk like in their interviews. Debbie Harry represents empowerment and authenticity in my view.
She is just as amazing as the first time She appeared on the music seen , I love how powerful her voice is and her ability to stay in the music stream never failing to deliver quality and beauty at the same time .
Debbie represents herself and Blondie with candid and direct dignity. She is polite and in her words. "Happy to be here". she makes the most of any given situation. It's been a really fun couple of weeks. With the release of Face It and reading articles and watching these interviews. I have the book and have been happily turning pages. Without reading any of it just yet. I want the moment to last. I love you Ms. Harry. Thank you for the music, personality and beauty.
Saw Blondie in 1977 when she was just beginning her career. She came across as bright, youthful and bolder then all the others that had proceeded her. She was like a big round headed cat that could easily slide into a children's pop show. Which she did when she appeared on the Muppet Show. She always has an edge but at the same time has a charmful way about her. 💜🐯🏡🍁🎃🍁
When I saw her on the Muppet Show, I was still a toddler but I begged my mom to get me the record of "Call Me" so I had the American Gigolo soundtrack LP at 4 years old.
i love debbie harry. she used to live (or still lives) in the building where i worked in nyc. she brought johnny weissmuller momentos down one time to the historic pool where he used to swim. i could tell this was an emphatic interest & lined up plans to have these hung & a little 'momento' area created. mgt had no idea what i was talking about & then the pieces 'disappeared.' that consortium no longer runs that building's health club--relationship severed. the artifacts are probably under the stairs in the storage area in the men's bathroom they have the key at the front desk in the health club . . .
@@petrajurkovic1317 omg, yes w 24 the garden corridor!! haha, that's hilarious. that cracks me up anyone knew what i was talking about. i used to work @ LT in the gym & at that famous pool, i am glad this came thru as a 'cool story.' I wonder if debbie read it?? . . .
Debbie is still so beautiful! 74 years old, people....and she is still so classy and gorgeous! Articulate, smart...and still driven to work. Hope she starts making music again!
Just a little tidbit that blew my mind because she never talked about this before but true Blondie fans would know... The part when she talks about receiving a “freak flag” in the mail, she actually wrote about in The Curse of Blondie’s opener “Shakedown”: “Who put this freak flag in the mail? Why you sendin’ me this pigtail You back in jail?”
She's one of my many rock heros! Saw Blondie in Detroit's Masonic Theater, and it was great. They played with Nic Lowe and Elvis Costello. Three bands for twenty-five dollars, you can't see a concert for that price anymore. Blondie was always one of best bands of the Punk Era. Debbie looks amazing as ever and as cool as always was. Debbie and Marilyn in my eyes have to be the best looking and most cool women ever. And what a voice. Very cool.
My God! Her voice still sounds EXACTLY the same as when she was in her 30s!!! So many people when they get into their 70s sound old. (My mother is 72 and it is true of her). But if I close my eyes, I immediately know it's Debbie Harry's voice!
Love you forever Debra! We loved to see you on the beach in Asbury Park, NJ, a couple of years ago. You , and your fine band, gave us a lot of great times. Thank you for the music!
Hi, Debbie! Your words and music gets me higher than all the cocaine in the universe . . . 🔭🌌 ‘Dreaming’ 🌃🌒💕 is my favourite song ― and it is the most joyous and life-affirming song ever! And it is a spot on description of how I met the love of my life! 👱🏼♀️💕 Thank you, Debbie and Chris. Much love 💝 and respect. 🙆 Cheers! 🍾🥂✨
"Little things, like driving a race car, or parachuting from a plane" If I had done them in my twenties they might have been the biggest things that I would (had I done them) dominate my experience of life. By the way, what does she say about thumbs?
well I Went to one of her concert in Toronto I got an autograph drum stick and her band that she threw to us while singing it was awesome.......and yes i still have it you rock debbie .....blondie
