I loved Debbie Reynolds. Over the years no matter what hit her; that littke woman bounced back from adversity. Until Carrie's death. The unsinkable Molly Brown (Debbie Reynolds role), just couldn't come back from that. I couldn't believe all those costumes. Amazing. She was an amazing woman and mother. Those who grew up with Debbie Reynolds will always appreciate and love the role model she was for the representation that something good could come out of Hollywood. She was a little package of dynamite. When you think of her you have to smile. Thanks for the info. I would have loved to have seen her collection. I didn't know she did that. Smart woman. Too bad the Academy wasn't as smart to display all those treasures. Great job.

Debbie Reynolds made an offer on my grandfather’s farm at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia back in the 1980s. She was going to build her museum there. Sadly, my dad’s siblings wouldn’t sell to her because she wanted my grandfather’s house to live in. My aunts wanted my uncle to live in the home house.

Debbie Reynolds was a very likeable person. When she had her casino in Vegas, she used to hang out at the bar downstairs. She didn't drink, but she would tell wonderful ( Hollyweird) stories and tell jokes, basically party with us at the bar. Then she would say" I have to, I have a show to do" She would go off and do her dinner show, and again talk with anyone and everyone. One time my mother was tired and I couldn't find her, eventually, there she was on a bench with Debbie R. And Debbie R had her arm around her and the 2 of them were laughing about ex- husband's. They were both 2 old gals just yuckin it up. Debbie, was very caring and a hoot !!!

I remember when she owned that casino in Las Vegas. People used to say poor Debbie Reynolds when they talked about her, because they knew she had dreams, but would face a hard time. They must have known her husband was a louse and the mismanagement around her business. She really tried to make a go of it, but she didn't have the support she needed, I think it would have been awesome if her dream of a Hollywood museum of old costumes from iconic movies worked. She was a beautiful lady and of course a legend in Hollywood, and she was a good mother to her children. She should have been luckier in love, but you just never know about those things.

You commented on the street’s classic name of “Rockford”. I’ve lived my entire life here in Rockford IL. When The Rockford Files TV show was being aired I used to think it was pretty cool. @sandranokes7443
@sandranokes7443 6 лет назад
Debbie actually had 4 auctions while she was alive. They still had a lot after that. And I think Todd has had auctions after they died. Debbie was financially wiped out by two different husbands. She had to sell her collection to pay off all the debt. She was broke. Sad to say someone who works their whole lives and gives to everyone and people she trusted take it all. That's happened to a lot of Hollywood stars. I understand that after the 4 auctions, she made around Thirty millions dollars and was able to pay off everyone and had enough to retire on. Carries daughter inherited her Mom, Carries house and her Grandmother, Debbie's house. Todd had built a place at his home in Las Vegas for Debbie and she would stay at both of them. Todd's book is a great book.

You know, no one in Hollywood wanted to help start a museum with her during her lifetime. Ironically, they just announced on the Oscars this year that the Academy was going to begin work on a Museum. She would have gladly supplied her collection, but they didn’t want it. Now, I hope they have to buy her items back from whoever she auctioned them off to.

British TV Lover..I know what you mean. Some things just don’t make sense sometimes. Hollywood gets Debbie Reynolds idea of a museum and run with it getting all the credit of “preserving things” for future generations to enjoy. Good to know the real truth comes out sooner or later. It makes visiting the academy awards museum bittersweet for me now. Hopefully Debbie Reynolds will be acknowledged somehow in a grander way for the museum concept and not just remain just as “one of the bunch of stars in Hollywood that just came out in movies”. Glad these vlogs and comments contribute to the truth coming out on things that matter and let genuine hearted people like Debbie & Carrie shine for what they brought to the industry and to life in general. ❤️🙏🏻🌹🦋

Debbie Reynolds lived in a bunch of homes during her lifetime, this one is the most famous address though as it’s where Carrie Fisher and Todd spent their childhood and where many of the home movies and photoshoots were done of the children. After her separation and divorce by Harry Karl, she was essentially broke and paying off debts for nearly a decade. She lived in a rental for a while somewhere in West LA with her personal assistants/best friends before giving that up and living in her car and various hotels for a few years since she was mainly performing all over the country and Vegas. Eventually she bought a condo in Vegas and managed to buy a modest bungalow in NoHo before ultimately moving on the compound in Coldwater Canyon where Carrie resided with Billie, her daughter. Of course her childhood home can be found near downtown Burbank on one of the old residential streets, walking distance from Warner Bros. It’s been totally modernized but the old pool Debbie designed still exists with the words Aba Dabba Honeymoon on the stairs.

That was the house she shared with her 2nd husband Harry Karl (possibly her third husband Richard Hamlett) before the divorces. The last property she lived at before her passing was in a compound where her and carrie had adjoining properties that could not be seen from the street. The property is shown in the 2016 documentary “bright lights” directed by fisher stevens
